EBC Brakes Sponsored Harley-Davidson XR1200 at NEC bike show

The EBC Brakes sponsored Harley XR1200 will be displayed on the Custom Xtreme stand in HALL 3 at the Motorcycle Live show NEC Birmingham from Saturday 19th November to Sunday 27th November 2011
The Harley-Davidson XR1200 Trophy series has now finished with me ending up 7th in the championship. I can’t help wondering how it might have been had spilt oil not caused me to crash whilst laying third in the championship, this little mishap made me to miss two races and carry an injury for the rest of the season.
The Cheltenham Harley-Davidson/EBC Brakes sponsored machine was race prepared and worked on by my race techs Gavin Cupit and Elliott Andrews both Harley-Davidson master technicians. They ensured the bike was in tip top order and with the awesome EBC GPFA race pads kept me competitive, the GPFA race pads launched in 2011 as a direct response to top racers asking for more bite on bikes equipped with slick tyres and latest calipers.
A big thank you to all at EBC Brakes for your fantastic support during 2011 and for helping me to raise much needed funds for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital who saved my sons life.
I am delighted to say next season I will again be sponsored by EBC Brakes.
Finally thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read my blog.
Happy Christmas everyone.

Brakes Discs for Motorcycles from EBC Brakes work great for fast street and even Race use according to Maria Costello MBE
Last modified on 2011-11-16 11:58:08 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Maria is proud to announce that the EBC Brakes sponsored Supertwin Kawasaki ER650 she built & raced this season will be on show at the forthcoming Motorcycle Live show at the Birmingham NEC.
The hand built bike includes EBC ProLite XC contour rotors are the toughest and yet the lightest sport and race brake rotors you can put on your bikes for many reasons and here is why these are best.

1. Contoured profile reduces weight by 7.5% without reducing actual “cooling mass” of disc.
2. New German mill rolled heat treated stainless steel rotor blade.
3. Vertical scraper slot system removes dirt, dust and debris quickly from braking area.
4. Unique fully overlapping vent hole pattern reduces weight, cleans disc blade and helps deglaze pads.
5. New Patented Stainless Steel SD (square drive) button drive system, prevent warping and vibration totally system – click here for full tech info.
6. Ultra lightweight ductile alloy centre hub.
7. Use of SD system allows less drive buttons, in the case of EBC we are down to six buttons
8. Full stainless components, no rusty parts and that’s guaranteed.
The bike that Maria will race at the Isle of Man TT in 2012 will be on display on the NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd stand from 19th – 27th November 2011, Hall 2, stand B110.

Skegness Beach Race won by EBC Brakes Rider Nathan Parker
Last modified on 2011-11-16 08:48:34 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
With the race taking place on the beach this was perfect for Parker racing with MX-S sintered pads and DRCF clutch kit from EBC Brakes, as MX-S pads have excellent durability in sand and the DRCF kits are 15% tougher than stock clutch kits.
The race got underway at 12 noon and Parker and Jordan Rose hit the front early, but
halfway round the first lap they had a coming together and both hit the deck, handing the lead to young sand specialist Nathan Watson.
Another crash later on the first lap saw Parker drop back to 6th but he soon settled into a comfortable rhythm and moved back through to third place by the end of the second lap and by lap 11 was up to second behind the flying Watson, however Watson ran out of fuel and had to push his bike back to the pits for a quick fill up. Luckily for him he had only just past the entrance to the pits so didn’t lose too much time. Parker was now in the lead and as everyone around him suffered from either running out of fuel or crashes, Parker just kept on going for lap after lap, building up a substantial lead.
After stopping to re-fuel on lap 21 he was still in the lead and was beginning to show his strength and fitness, setting the fastest lap of the race two laps later, one and a half hours into the race. He continued to increase his lead and was a clear two laps in front of second place by the time they went through the two hour mark. He was brought in for a precautionary top up of fuel as the race entered the last 30 minutes and after rejoining the race he was able to cruise home for a well deserved win, ahead of Watson, Moffat and Bradshaw.
A happy Parker commented “the conditions were really tough and I can’t say I enjoyed the experience, but I definitely enjoyed the win. I was knackered by the end. I think I’ll have to practice a bit more next time”

With a 56% share of the aftermarket, EBC Brakes out-voted all other aftermarket brake suppliers combined in the recent survey of 2000 Racer-X motocross enthusiasts, expanding its market share in the survey by 20%+ compared to previous surveys.
“EBC Brakes won this reader’s choice award by a country mile” stated Scott Wallenberg, Racer-X publisher, and continues its dominance of the motocross market for brake pads and rotors, especially in the USA.
EBC Brakes produces the largest range of motorcycle brakes in the world from three manufacturing locations in Bristol, UK, Northampton, UK and Ohio, USA and make the popular ranges of motocross brakes and clutches such as the MX-S sintered pads plus the OS series oversize brake rotor kits and the new super tough DRCF clutch kits.
EBC Brakes stocks and distributes its products in the USA from a huge new Los Angeles facility and distributes its products to 28 of the world’s largest distributors in the USA and Canada. EBC Brakes also has world dominance with distributors in almost every westernised market with an estimated world market share of 60-70% of the free aftermarket.

Best clutches and brakes for motocross guide American Honda/ GEICO JG Off Road riders Jimmy Jarrett and Scott Watkins to podium finishes

JG Off Road Ends 2011 OMA Season on the Podium
Morrison, Illinois (October 31, 2011)
Podium finishes fell into place for American Honda/ GEICO JG Off Road riders Jimmy Jarrett and Scott Watkins at the final round of the 2011 Parts Unlimited OMA series, the Moose Racing Moose Run. The Illinois race is a long-standing event on the circuit, and the two racing on EBC MX-S offroad pads and new DRCF Clutch Kit were able to use the slick conditions to their advantage.
Jarrett was able to catch Defending Champion Paul Whibley on the first lap and settled in to battle on the 38-mile track. While the weather stayed clear for the first of two laps, rain set in for the second, creating the perfect conditions for the mud-loving team safe in the knowledge the sintered copper alloy MX-S pads also have excellent durability in sand, wet and mud riding.
Jarrett was able to move ahead of Whibley on the second lap but crashed soon after, getting hung up on a log. Whibley jumped ahead and pulled away to take the win, with Jarrett in second.
It took me awhile to catch Whibs, but once I did it was a good race,
he said.
After I got hung up on that log, Whibley got around me and I didn’t see him again. But I ended up second and all in all it was a good day.
Watkins started his day in the back of the pack but like Jarrett, was able to recover the deficit by the end of the first lap by out breaking the rest of the pack with his MX-S offroad pads combined with his DRCF Clutch Kit. Watkins went wheel to wheel with Kawasaki- mounted Adam Bonneur for fourth, and after a splash of gas, he was able to move ahead into third for the finish.
I didn’t have a great start,
Watkins said.
I had to reel all of those guys in, but it was a new trail and we were all trying to figure it out. After I stopped for gas I just pinned it until I got hung up on a log, but I was able to pin it and finish third. It was a good day for the team.
We’re really excited to have both Jimmy and Scott on the podium,
said Gretchen Bennett, team co-owner.
Both of them have been working really hard and it showed today. We’re hoping to carry this momentum into this weekend’s double header at Loretta’s.
Jarrett and Watkins would like to thank team sponsors EBC Brakes.
The JG Off Road team will head to Hurricane Mills, Tennessee on November 4th and 6th to compete in the final two rounds of the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series.

Using EBC MXS Sintered pads Paul Whibley wins his 9th OMA in a row

Parts Unlimited OMA National Series – Final Round – “Moose Run”
Riders:
Paul Whibley (1st Place)
Every year riders flock to Illinois in hopes of finishing one of the most challenging races in the country. OMA founder, Bill Gusse prides himself of building a course that is so grueling, even the most talented riders struggle to complete it.
If you look up the word “Dedication” in the dictionary, I believe that you will find a picture of AmPro Yamaha’s Paul Whibley. Regardless of the fact that Paul sealed up the 2012 OMA Championship two races ago, he still chose to make the 15 hour drive to the small town of Fenton, Illinois.
Now, October usually brings a mixture of weather to the area and this year was no exception. The brisk 45 degree air took its toll on the riders, as they sat shivering and eagerly awaiting the drop of the green flag. When that flag finally came down, EBC Brakes sponsored Whibley fired off the line, leading the first pack of riders into the woods.
Note: Being the lead rider in a Bill Gusse built race course is not necessarily a good thing, the barely cut course is littered with logs, rocks, creek crossings, and a maze of arrows that kindly guide you in the right direction… or what you hope to be the right direction.
Whibley using EBC MXS Sintered pads and EBC Oversize rotor Kits stayed focused throughout the first hour, battling for the lead with friend and former teammate Jimmy Jarrett. The two riders would continually gap the rest of the field swapping positions several times as one would get stuck and the other would move forward. Around the 1-hour mark the riders finally made the turn into their second lap. The clouds opened up and the rain began to fall, making the second lap even worse than the first. After another hour of back and forth racing, it would be AmPro’s Paul Whibley that would finish the race in 1st place, making this his 9th OMA win in a row!
“The Moose Run is always a challenging race,” says Whibley. “The first lap was brutal because there really weren’t any clear lines to follow… Gusse loves to make a mess of the course; I can’t even count the number of logs we went over! Overall, I had a great time and I’m glad we got to finish up the OMA series on the top of the box. Big thanks to AmPro Yamaha and all of my sponsors. This has been a great year racing and I couldn’t do it without all their support.”

Ironman GNCC – Round 13 – Crawfordsville, IN
These riders all use EBC MXS Sintered pads and EBC Oversize rotor Kits
Thad Duval (2nd Place –XC1 Class)
Paul Whibley (3rd Place – XC1 Class)
Steward Baylor Jr. (1st Place – XC2 Class)
Jordan Ashburn (2nd Place – XC2 Class)
The Ironman GNCC in Crawfordsville, Indiana is normally a dry and dusty battle, which tests even the best riders all the way to the finish. However, conditions couldn’t have been better, as rain from earlier in the week left the course in pristine shape!
XC1 Class
AmPro Yamaha riders Thad Duval and Paul Whibley sat on starting line, eagerly awaiting the drop of the green flag. Once it was down, the riders were off, charging into the first corner. Whibley would be slightly edged out by Jedediah Haines, who kamikazed his bike past the other riders in a short lived lead.
From there, the riders would spend the first four laps battling it out and eventually settling into their positions. Going into the fifth lap, Paul had put his Factory Yamaha YZ450F into the 2nd place position with Duvall right behind him in 3rd. The riders would continue on, finishing out the race in this order. Unfortunately, a technical penalty would cause Whibley to lose a position, allowing Duval to seal a 2nd place finish with Whibley holding onto 3rd.
Outbraking the field with his powerful EBC MXS Pads and EBC Oversize MX rotors Whibley went on to say….
This was a good race,
says Whibley.
The course couldn’t have been more perfect and the bike worked extremely well especially the EBC MXS Brake pads. I’m pretty disappointed in receiving the technical penalty but I’m happy finishing up on the box. I’d like to thank my wife Kathryn, my mechanic Scotty, and the AmPro Team for all their support.
Man, the conditions today were perfect,
says Duval.
The bike ran awesome and team did a great job getting me in and out of the pits. After about the third lap I rode a pretty lonely race… which is tough because it’s hard to find that perfect pace. Overall I’m stoked about finishing on the podium, it’s unfortunate what happened with Paul but I’ll take a second place any way I can get it!
XC2 Class
Obermeyer / AmPro’s Jordan Ashburn had one of his best starts of the year, firing into the first corner just barely missing out on the holeshot. Jordan led most of the race but a couple small mistakes would allow KTM’s Steward Baylor to sneak by. From there, the two riders would battle back and forth the remainder of the day, with Steward finishing 1st and Jordan finishing only seconds behind him in 2nd.
Cycle News says:
Steward Baylor Jr. made a late-race pass on Jordan Ashburn and then held the Am Pro Yamaha rider at bay to take the win in the XC2 class, his sixth such finish of the year. Baylor is closing in on the XC2 title and the KTM rider now holds a commanding 52-point lead over Ashburn in the class standings.
I had a lot of fun today,
says Ashburn.
Unfortunately, a couple mistakes made the difference between first and second. It was a lot of fun to battle with Stew, he’s a great racer and he was pushing hard. I’d like to thank my parents along with Keith Obermeyer and Randy Hawkins for all the support the bike worked awesome all day!

Best motocross racing brakes from EBC Brakes give first podium finish of the season for JD Beach

Well it’s Monday morning and I’m at home sitting at the bar in the kitchen watching it rain. It was a great weekend for me in Little Rock, Arkansas. Steve Nace was having one of his All Star races. I was really looking forward to the race, last year the track was awesome and it was some good racing. This year the race was later on the calendar because the first one was rained out. There where some fast guys that showed up Chris Carr, Brad Baker, Jethro Halbert, and the Scherd Brothers.
The trip started out Friday afternoon. We left from Owensboro when Luke Baird got out of school. We drove two vans down. In mine it was Jon, Kerri, and me, and in Terry Payne’s van it was him, Luke, and Frankie Lee. They run amateurs at the races as well as well as the pro class so FLG was dusting off his hot shoe again. We had a lot of fun on the way down and the way back. When we have time we like to take our time and see different things and try different foods. On the way down we stopped at Tyler Porter’s house to pick up my bike so we went and got some food. After filling our belly’s up we where on our way. It was to long of a drive, about 5 hours. We got to our hotel around mid night. We didn’t have to be up early so we had plenty of time to get some rest.
Saturday morning we got up and had some food then headed to the track. It started raining a little bit but not bad I wasn’t to worried. We where one of the first ones to the track. I like to get there early, so we started getting unloaded and watched everyone else come in and see who all was going to be there. A few hours went by then it was time to start practice, after the first lap I knew the track was going to be a lot different from last year. James Hart couldn’t make it so I was on my own setting the bike up, after the first practice I dropped a tooth and called it good. In the heat race it was kinda crazy, nobody really knew where the line was so everyone was going wild. It took a few laps to get the line, I was going from 1st to 4th in a turn just sliding around, then I figured out I needed to stay down low. I got into first place then Brad followed right behind me, then we pulled away from everyone.
The top 2 from each expert heat race and the top 2 from the pro heat race went to the dash for cash. They had 500 bucks already for the dash then went in the stands to get more. Before the race we didn’t know how much was on the line, I just knew I was starting pole and I needed to get the hole shot and stay right on the bottom. Last year the collected about 800 bucks I think so I knew it was going to be good. It was only 4laps. I got that hole shot and stayed right on the bottom and counted each lap down, I knew Brad and Chris wanted that money just as bad as I did. I ran 4 good laps and won it, I came back around for the podium and we found out how much it was $1202 but then they said plus the $500 they already had. After the race Paul the man putting the race on asked me if I would keep the $1202 and split the $500 between 2nd and 3rd. I decided to say yes hoping it would be good karma for the 15lap main that paid good money too.
Before the main there wasn’t much to do to the bike to get it ready. Just check the gas and air pressure, everything was good to go and I think I was. I knew I was starting from pole and I just had to do the same as the dash just for 15 laps. I got the hole shot and lead every lap. Brad was right on me the whole time. 15 laps is a long time to lead a race, in the middle I started slowing down and Brad got right on me then the last 5 laps I turned it up and came home with a win.
This race meant a lot to me, I got my first win of the year. It was an All Star race but there was still some really fast guys in it. It really made me feel good. I’ve had a pretty tough year, and it was nice to finally get that victory lap. After doing so good last year to not even getting a top 5 all year (until Knoxville) getting this win was big for me. I was really happy.
Next weekend it’s off to Brainerd, MN for the next GNC race then leaving right from there to head out to Calistoga, CA. It should be a really fun trip, hopefully we can do work on the twin.

Enduro Brakes by EBC Brakes make the difference for upcoming rider Alex Rockwell
Last modified on 2011-10-21 11:57:57 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
World Enduro Championship Final Round 8- Mende, France
Grande Finale to the 2011 Season in France for Rockwell
Midwest Husaberg Team UK team rider Alex Rockwell set off to the final World Enduro Championship round in France after an invitation from the Husaberg factory team to participate in the event. It would be a chance not to be missed so he caught a plane and met the team at the paddock on the Wednesday before the event to set up the bike. After a long, hot dry spell of weather the typical French course would be hard, rocky and dusty and a real test at the highest level of competition for Alex. The Friday night “Prologue” test went well and he posted 7th fastest time in the Under 23 year old class which had 50 competitors. Saturday would be 4 laps of 25 kms and would include an “Extreme” test as well as an enduro and motocross tests. Alex seemed to like the “Extreme” test which consisted of “man made” obstacles such as tyres, logs and rocks, he eventually finished 3rd best Junior rider over this test. However the enduro and motocross tests proved more of a challenge because of the late start position and the dry, conditions meant the course was covered in a “fog like cloud” of dust which made clear vision very difficult. But determined to finish in this event Alex continued on throughout and still finished the day in 10th position overall in his class.
Day 2 would be the same course and with no let up in the heat it would be another long hard day in the saddle but the FE390 Husaberg performed faultlessly over the whole weekend taking Alex to another excellent result to finish the second day in 11th position. This gave Alex a total of 21world championship points from one event and left him in 26th in the World Junior Championship. Frustrated because he couldn’t ride as fast as he wanted to due to lack of vision Alex was still positive with some of his test times being in the top 6 on many occasions and look forward to next year.
Midwest Husaberg UK would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors and helpers during this year, without whom we wouldn’t have been able to have such a great year. We look forward to your continued help in the forth coming season.

Hi to All!
September and October have been good months for me. September was filled with the beginning of college classes and much practice riding! My classes have started off well, and I have been learning a lot.
I attended two races in October. The first was the Texas Pro Challenge in Tyler, TX. I ended up finishing 4th overall in the women’s class. Albeit a little disappointed, it was a good weekend at the track getting to spend time with my family and celebrating my Dad’s birthday.
The next race was in Pine Bluff, AR at the Arkansas State Championship. I was excited coming into this race because I have not been able to attend for a couple of years. The racing was good, and I was able to come away with a win. It was also a lot of fun racing the boys in the 4-stroke open class too.
September & October 2011 Results
| 8-9 Oct | 20th Annual Texas Pro Challenge Swan MX; Tyler, TX | Women | 4th |
| 15 Oct | Arkansas State Championship | Women | 1st |

Reviews on EBC DRC-F Clutch is…thank you EBC Brakes for such great a product!
Last modified on 2011-10-21 10:54:13 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
I cannot thank Gary Galleger, EBC and MJ USA enough for the help on getting me to the 2011 High Point Vet National. Just days before the weekends race I find out my YZ has a slipping clutch. With the help of Ryan at MJ’s making a call to Gary at EBC I end up with the DRC-F 113 which is the brand new Carbon Fiber lined clutch kit from EBC. I put the kit in Friday night and Saturday morning I’m off to Pa. for the vet national. I break the new clutch in during practice – everything with the kit felt great after a couple laps. This clutch has a very positive feel to it – more so than stock for sure. Now those that know High Point this is an up hill start and I’m on an 09 YZ 250 2 stroke. What do you know I pull to 3rd place starts in the 40plus B class. Who would have thought this against 450′s up hill! I ended up having a mishap in each moto due to a rider falling in front of me and I still finished 6th overall…
Thank You EBC for such great new product – I would recommend this product to others for sure…Team Craig

“New EBC GPFA sintered Race pads are unbelievable if you aren’t running EBC Brakes, I will out-brake you into your favorite turn” says Tim Scarrott
Last modified on 2011-10-20 11:22:42 GMT. 2 comments. Top.
2011 Closing Race Report!
Thank you EBC Brakes and Garry Gallagher, who are the industry standard. Garry has been in the business for a long time and remains enthusiastic every time I talk to him. The new GPFA sintered race pads are unbelievable – and if you aren’t running them, I will out-brake you into your favorite turn! Their products can be found at www.ebcbrakes.com
Brakes are important in Roadracing and I have tested everything out there. EBC Brakes have always have great products but the 2011 edition GPFA series sintered pads are so good, I think EBC has set new standards in road race braking that will be hard to follow
The 2011 season started off a bit slow with a crash and some mechanical and electrical issues to sort out, but such is the life of a racer! I greatly appreciate David Raff and Gregg Spears for their input with only minutes to go during round 2 and I was able to race well despite the setbacks. The season was impacted by rain during several events. The AFM doesn’t currently race in the rain and we remained flexible when a makeup round was added toward the end of the season. Once the rain cleared and the bike seemed to be better than ever, it was time to make some headway with laptimes and results. Michael Earntest, Lenny Hale, James Randolf and Dave Stanton assisted me on and off the track and I appreciate all of their input and support. I was able to reduce my laptimes nearly 2 seconds across the board and earned a 2nd and 4th place finishes in Open Production. I found that increased confidence has been an extremely important part of my racing program and this also played a vital role at the last event. I suffered a 115mph crash during Saturday practice, leaving my race bike totaled and a suit destroyed, but I walked away without serious injuries. With points and an overall podium at stake, I raced my backup bike the next day to secure important points and finish the season strong.
I would also like to thank the American Federation of Motorcyclists (AFM) – without them our racing season would not be possible. The AFM is the oldest road racing club in the United States and I know that each and every person in the AFM takes their responsibility seriously. From the race director to the tech officials to the turn workers, thank you all. Thank you also, for the 10 year anniversary tribute to 9-11, as a combat veteran, I was proud to stand in my leathers and salute our flag during the tribute and proud to race on 9-11.
As most of you know, I have the honor and privilege of working for Pacific Track Time as a staff member and instructor. This unique opportunity has turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life, giving me the opportunity to work with dozens of street riders, track day enthusiasts and racers throughout the year. I am also privileged to ride with the PTT staff; unbelievably knowledgeable and skilled riders and racers, who love the sport with uncommon passion. Without a doubt, Pacific Track Time is the premier trackday provider on the west coast and gives me an opportunity to give back to the sport that has given so much to me. This year I have had the specific opportunity to work with a trackday rider, Barry Hatler and an up-and-coming AMA hopeful, CJ Weaver. Mentoring and coaching these riders has been truly amazing and I am indebted to them for teaching me as much as I’ve taught them. This year I have also had an opportunity to ride with Chuck Casey and Bud Anderson, who are both well over 50 years old and still dragging a knee. You guys rock.
This year I competed in my first ever “Formula Pacific” race, which has been a personal goal for me since I was a yellow plate (novice) racer. This was truly an amazing experience and I finished 9th in that race. One of my goals for the 2011 season was to be prepared for the Formula Pacific class in 2012 and I have achieved that goal with everyone’s help. I significantly increased my overall positions this year and while I know the curve at this level is ever steepening, I hope to continue to improve with your help during 2012!

Thank you for such an amazing season! I can’t tell you enough how appreciative I am for all of your support and this season would not been possible without each and every one of you. Fully understanding how critical your support is, I have represented each and every one of you at every possible moment. This has been an unbelievable season filled with both accomplishment and setbacks, rained out events and a 115mph crash during practice at the last event. The 2011 season is a story of your support and the perseverance to race hard all the way to the checkers and I am extremely excited to send out my 2011 season closing race report.
Next, to my fellow racers, family and friends – support my sponsors! Many of you came out to the races, cheered me on and helped in the pits. This is really so important to me and your excitement and energy helps me keep my head down and the throttle on! It also helps me brush the dirt off and get back out there even after I crash, which we all have to realize is a part of racing. I’d like to thank my fellow racers for absolutely professional, safe and sportsman like conduct and riding all year long. There was never a time that I felt we should have done it better and I know that I’m in fantastic company on the start grid. I’ve learned so much from each and every one of you and I can’t thank you enough.
I cannot thank you enough for your help and support during 2011. My success, improvements and overall podium finish in Open Production are yours as much as they are mine. Racing Sunday means sales on Monday and I promise to continue to represent my sponsors to the best of my ability on and off the track. Road racing is an unbelievable and unique sport that I am extremely proud to take part in and plan to do so for many years to come. Napa Auto Parts, Driven Racing, EBC Brakes and Arlen Ness have already increased their support for next year and I hope that I can count on each and every one of you for the 2012 racing season. See you at the track!
Sincerely,
Tim Scarrott

Review on EBC Double H sintered HH pads in track use by USA racing Team Double M
Last modified on 2011-10-20 08:49:54 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Mark and Libby Middleton, who is a South Texas Attorney, are the driving force behind the upcoming Supersport 600 rider David Paton. Being an ex old time racer who rode with Sheene etc at the top of his career, Mark kept up involvement and love of the sport when age started to take its toll.
Mark managed to achieve all his goals in racing at the tracks he always wanted to race at, including the IOM TT, North West 200 and Daytona, all on Yamaha TZ 750 2 strokes.
After the racing bug was out of his own system Mark set up Double M Oilfield Equipment and Consulting Services, which is known worldwide nowadays for getting companies out of a bind when the operations are shut down due to lack of correct parts.
Brakes are critical to any race success and we use and LOVE the new EBC Double-H GPFA race version sintered pads
Double M prides itself in providing these services to keep the wheels in motion for various oilfield and associated companies through out the world
Double M racing started supporting “Deej” Paton in his early days of Aprilia’s 125 series in the UK and continued right through with 400 Yamaha machines in MRO series, and 600 Superstock Scottish championship as well as supporting David through 2 seasons of the Virgin R6 Cup where he finished 3rd overall in the very last series.
David decided to change direction then and headed to Europe to tackle the European Superstock championship minus Double M. This did not work out for Deej, we decided to re- kindle our relationship late last year, with huge support and understanding from my wife Libby
As the results speak for themselves, securing runner up position in the Supersport Cup division of BSB is no mean feat on a limited amount of resources.
2012 will bring new challenges for sure, but the team is well positioned, assisted by our various product support, we hope to progress to the very top of our goal.
EBC Double H sintered race brakes have been at the for front of our stopping power for this season, Deej says they are simply amazing.
We look forward to 2012 and the challenges that it will bring.

Best brakes for motocross racing on a damp track are by EBC Brakes

As the riders sat on the line waiting for the flag, the clouds opened up and the rain came down. The newly laid course in the small Illinois town actually took the water well and aside from being a little slick, conditions were near perfect!
AmPro Yamaha’s Paul Whibley and Obermeyer / AmPro Yamaha’s Jordan Ashburn fired off the line side by side, charging into the first corner. Whibley kept the throttle on just a bit longer, inching Ashburn out of the FMF Holeshot and leading the pack into the first section of woods. From there, an all-out battle began, as the top five riders continued to swapped positions throughout the first half of the race. It wasn’t until the first gas stop that Whibley and Ashburn started gapping the field. After that, both riders put their heads down and charged their way to the finish, Whibley securing first place and Ashburn locking in second.
This was a fun race,
says Whibley.
The rain made for a bit of a challenge but the dirt was mostly sand so it soaked up the moisture. The first half of the race was pretty intense, I fought back and forth with Jordan and Jimmy and all of us were pushing it. This win really means a lot to me, especially having it secure my 4th OMA Championship. I’d like to thank my wife Katherine, my mechanic Scotty, and the entire AmPro team, as well as all of my great sponsors such as EBC Brakes for making this possible. I put in a lot of hard work this season and I have a great team behind me.
I had a blast today,
says Ashburn.
I love the mud and the track was perfect. It was fun to go out there and battle for a good portion of the race. Usually, by the third or fourth lap the field is gapped a little bit but not here, all of us were going back and forth. I’d like to thank Keith at Obermeyer and Randy with AmPro Yamaha. The bike worked awesome and it feels great to be back up on the podium.

Best motorcycle racing brakes for BSB Supersport Championship rider Deej Paton in team Paramed UK gets EBC Brakes GPFA series pads thumbs up

Click here to read about the Brakes that Deej uses for his racing or here for the brake discs or rotors that will deliver superb race braking,
Good day EBC Brakes, FYI we had a real good run out at the final round of the Supersport 600 Championship at Brands Hatch over the weekend,
The team managed to secure 2nd overall in the Supersport Cup with 2 wins and a 2nd place over the 3 races. A lot of hard work from all the team and associate sponsors managed to get us through a difficult period over the previous 2 rounds at Donnington and Silverstone where we experinced 2 catastrophic engine failure while leading our class races.
Fortunately we managed to replace engine for this weekend and it ran perfectly to give Double M Racing and its team sponsors a great finale to the season.
We once again salute EBC brakes for giving us the stopping power to achieve these great results in our first season competing at this level, Deej just loves the feel that your braking systems give to him.
We look forward to moving on with more of the same next season with additional help of higher horsepower engines to enable us to compete at the front end of this very competitive championship.
Very tough job against the factory Suzuki, Kawasaki and Triumphs but we take strength from Chas Davies.s win in the World Championship 600 Supersport Series, also using a Yamaha R6.
We really appreciate the assistance you at EBC Brakes gives to our team.
In due course we will be back in the UK to hold a celebration party for all team associates and sponsors.
We will be in contact in due course with all information regarding this get together, and hope that you and yours will be able to attend.
Thanks again

Geoff Aaron and Mike Brown kept it close and finished second and third at Denver EnduroCross!
Denver, CO (October 1, 2011) – Taddy Blazusiak is a machine on a motorcycle and rode his KTM 350 to another win at the Denver round of the GEICO AMA EnduroCross, presented by Lucas Oil. Geoff Aaron and Mike Brown made Blazusiak earn it with Brown even passing him for the lead at one point before giving it back. Aaron took over second when Brown had a spectacular crash but recovered to finish third.
Blazusiak got the day started by setting the fastest time during the Hot Laps, which puts the riders on the track one at a time for a single lap against the clock. GEICO Honda’s Aaron finished second followed by Lucas Oil/Rockstar backed Colton Haaker.
Blazusiak, Beta’s Cody Webb and Haaker each won their respective heat races to take get the best picks for the main event. Webb and Aaron had a great battle for the win in heat two and most of the qualifying races had great action.
Aaron and Brown got aggressive on the final start of the night to push Blazusiak to third but then the Polish rider launched past both of them to take the lead through one of the difficult rock sections and seemed ready to take off. Brown and Aaron stayed close and on lap three, Blazusiak crashed in the Matrix, which is a difficult section of closely spaced logs and Brown took over the lead. Brown held the position for over a lap but then gave it up to Blazusiak but still stayed close. Brown then crashed in the Matrix and allowed Aaron to get by. Webb also challenged Brown for third for a few laps before losing touch and finished fourth just ahead of GEICO Honda’s Kyle Redmond and Monster Kawasaki’s Justin Soule, who was fighting back from a derailed chain. Stillwell Performance backed Kevin Rookstook finished seventh ahead of Colton Haaker, Bobby Prochnau and Kyle Calderini. Gary Sutherlin finished 11th after running as high as fifth but a bike problem dropped him from contention near the end of the main.
In addition to the Expert class, EnduroCross events include Open Amateur, Vet 35+ and TrialsCross classes. The top two finishers in each class also earn a spot in the Vegas Grand Championship Finals for each respective class. The Vet class was won by Kurt Nichol over Scott Forrest and Josh Budimlya. The Amateur class was won by Eric Rhoten who finished ahead of Max Gerston and Keith Curtis. The TrialsCross class was won by Joey Hamilton over Steven Deines and Shad Petersen.

Best brake pads and rotors for motorcycle stunt riding are by EBC Brakes as used by stunt professional Aaron Colton

Chapparal Motorsports
San, Bernadino, CA
After making my way back from Fort Knox, I arrived in CA to prepare for my show at Chaparral Motorsports. Tucker Rocky brought me in for the show as Chapparal is one of their biggest dealers. I rode at this bike night last year and this year’s event was just as big, if not bigger! A lot of the local motorcycle clubs came out and cheered me on as I performed a couple shows throughout the night. Many vendors had booths set up and Speed and Strength had their booth set up where I signed autographs all night. Such a great show and I hope to be invited back next year!
29 Palms Military Base, CA
The RedBull Military Tour made another stop in CA, this time landing us at the 29 Palms Military Base in southern California. The weather was so hot, but that didn’t stop spectators from coming out to my two shows! I couldn’t believe the amount of people that came out and cheered me on even in the 100+ degree weather. Hopefully I can get back out here sometime when it’s a little cooler!
Mexican Independance Day Parade
East Las Angeles, CA
RedBull invited me to come out and perform for the Mexican Independence Day parade in East L.A. I performed at the beginning of the parade after the ribbon cutting ceremony. Not only did I get to ride in front of a lot of screaming people, they aired my demo live on ABC in the greater LA area. Make sure to check out my website for the link to the segment that was aired!
Fort Leonard Wood, MO
After a week of great shows in the Southern CA area, it was time to pack up and head to Missouri for the next stop on the RedBull Military Tour. We arrived to Fort Leonard Wood and met nothing but three straight days of rain with the promise of more rain. We were unable to get to perform any of my demos but were able to set up a rain date for October 7th. It was great hanging out with the troops, but hopefully we will get better weather on the 7th and I will be able to perform!
Fort Campbell, KY
The next stop on the RedBull Military Tour brought me to Fort Campbell, KY. The base was hosting an event in its PX parking lot with me and Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer. Talk about two complete different worlds! The crowds lined the parking lot and watched me perform two demos. I don’t think I’ve ever signed so many posters! Ireally hope to make it back to Fort Campbell as this was one of my favorite stops on the Military Tour this year so far!
Rock ya Chewbakka!
A good friend of mine, Donovan Dresti, called me up the other day and asks if I would make a cameo in his band “Dark Heavens” music video. Naturally, I agreed but was unprepared for my role when I arrived! Their band’s first single off of their album is called “Rock Ya Chewbakka.”
And, well, they had me dress up in a giant pink Chewbakka suit in the 100+ degree heat! We had a blast filming and I am excited for when the video premieres! As soon as they drop the video, I will be sure to post it all over the place so you can check out “Dark Heavens” and my cameo!
Another busy month heading into another busy month! September flew by so fast it was hard to keep track of everything going on. October is shaping up to be another great month as I will be shooting a segment for one of MTV’s new shows, heading to Fort Leonard Wood for another military show, an AMA Flat Track Race weekend and a video shoot in Chicago for an upcoming RedBull collaboration with RedBull Drift Athlete Ryan Tuerck. October promises to be a good time and I look forward to all of the riding and filming coming up in the next month.
As the year is winding down, please be sure to contact us if you are interested in demos, appearances, photo shoots or other opportunities. There are still a couple of open weekends on my calendar, but it is filling up fast so please get in touch as soon as possible if you are interested.
Lately, I have been getting a lot of requests for media from various sponsors, which is great. If you are looking for media content from me (pictures, video, write-upos, etc.), please email me at Aaron@AaronColton.com and I will be sure to get back to your request quickly with the media you requested.
Make sure to check in on my Social Media through out the month.

The best motocross racing brake pads and rotors from EBC Brakes help Martin Barr celebrate 3rd overall in MAXXIS British Championship
Last modified on 2011-10-07 10:22:18 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
MAXXIS BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP RD8
Barr celebrates 3rd overall in Championship with 2nd overall on the day at last round.
With a brief Indian summer in full swing this past week, Boost Energy KTM travelled to Hawkstone Park in Shropshire for the final round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship. The team was joined by Australian rider Louis Calvin for the day.
Sunday morning dawned cool and overcast, and team star Martin Barr took charge early on in qualifying by setting the fastest time around the challenging track in the first lap, but had to settle for the runner-up position in the super-pole session afterwards. Team-mate Nathan Parker joined Barr in the super-pole session where he ended tenth, while Calvin qualified in sixteenth.
For Barr, the first race was near-perfect. Tucking in behind Brad Anderson, Barr kept up the pressure throughout the race to end in second. His second race was even better. Although the start left him scrapping for second with Tom Church, a mistake by leader Anderson catapulted Barr into the lead a mere three laps into the race. Keeping his cool and riding smart gave Barr a six second lead across the finish line, levelling his point score for the third race. In the final race Barr got off the start in second behind Church. Defending his position against Anderson became a bit of a cat and mouse game, switching places time and again, but a small but costly mistake put an end to Barr’s aspirations to take the day overall win and he had to settle for fourth at the finish. With the day over, Barr found himself in second overall, securing a third overall in the championship standings.
Parker’s weekend was a tough end to a difficult week. After contracting a bug towards the end of the previous weekend and bedridden since then, he was unsure whether he would end the first race. His start in tenth turned into a race with gritted teeth all the way through, earning Parker one more position against intense pressure from fellow KTM rider Jamie Law for a ninth place at the chequered flag. The second race was another struggle for Parker. After summoning all his strength for a good start, Parker valiantly defended his position in seventh from Dorren Coutts for much of the first half of the race. The continued pressure eventually proved too much and Parker had to relinquish his position to settle for an eighth place at the finish. Parker’s final race ended before it really began. A stunner of a start in fourth ended on Hawkstone Hill as his front-end tucked in and he went over the bars, hurting his neck and hand in the process. There was not much else to do but call it a day, and accept an eleventh place overall on the day. Nonetheless, Parker finishes the season in seventh place, a marked improvement over his previous year’s standings.
Calvin, not used to concrete starts, started his first race in the back of the pack but impressively made short work of several rivals in just one lap. Soon after, he found himself in thirteenth, battling Nathan Watson and Josh Waterman throughout the race and keeping the position to the finish line. The second race was another start in mid-pack, but as with the first race, Calvin made steady progress up the pack before running into stiff competition from Watson in twelfth. Biding his time, he stalked Watson to the end, and then took ruthless advantage in the last corners to pass Watson for eleventh place. Calvin found himself shadowing Watson again in his final race after a start in thirteenth. Making short work of two more rivals gave Calvin the push he needed to progress to tenth, where he gave Law a hard time for the remainder of the race, ending tenth, and tenth overall on the day.
Team principal Steve Turner declared himself content with the day’s results, saying:
It was a good end to the season today, Martin secured third place in the championship and really gave it a good shot at taking second from Whatley. He had a really good shout at winning the overall but dropped it whilst in second and had to settle for fourth. He rode really strong throughout the day and nearly took second off Whatley. Nathan came here ill, was sick all week and couldn’t keep any food down. He rode the first two races and I didn’t even think he’d finish those, but he managed to tough it out and finish them both. In the last race he had a good start and was in fourth, then binned it down the hill and his hand ended up in the back wheel and ripped all his knuckles, so he called it a day. He’s had a good season, finishing in seventh overall. I’m really pleased with the season, a third and a seventh is the best we’ve had, so we move on to next year and hope we can do even better.
Nathan Parker:
I wasn’t looking forward to coming to Hawkstone, it’s a tough track and there’s been a bit of a heatwave this week, which has made things a bit worse for me. I’ve been ill since last weekend, I considered not going out at all this week, so I struggled all day really. I couldn’t eat anything, I was sick after the first race, and it took its toll. In the last race, I was in fourth and coming down the hill the bike just tucked on me and I didn’t have any strength to fight it and went straight over the bars. I’ve hurt my wrist and my neck again, skinned my knuckles, so it’s all ended on a bit of a sour note, but it’s still been a good season.
Martin:
Today started off good, in timed qualifying I ended up first and in super-pole second, which still gave me a good enough gate pick. First race I got a good start and got into second behind Brad, pushed him the whole race but never got close enough to try and get by him, but I was happy with that. In the second race I didn’t get that good a start, Tom Church and I hit in the second corner, but once we got going we came through the pack again and started catching up on Brad. In the same lap that I passed Tom, Brad crashed and I went from third to first. I just raced my own race, and got a win, so that was me and Brad even in points going into the last race, and I was only a few points behind Whatley for second place in the championship. In the last race I got an OK start, but Tom just checked out and Brad and me had a thing going. Then I made a silly mistake and the front-end washed out. I got going again but I was too far behind to have any chance of getting back to the front again. If I hadn’t crashed, I would’ve had the momentum to keep going and pass Tom. All in all it was a good day and I ended up second today and third in the championship.
I’d like to thank Steve and Boost Energy KTM, my mechanic Chris, Ken, Janet and their kids, they’ve been brilliant all year, I’ve had a fun and exciting year. I hope Steve’s happy with the results and how things have gone this year as this is my last outdoor race for him. I’m still doing the Sheffield supercross and then I move on. So thank you and it’s been a good year.
Louis:
Today was good. I struggled all day getting off that concrete start; I kept going sideways. We changed the mapping on the bike for the last one and that went better. The guys in the team couldn’t be more helpful. The races got progressively better, I think I’m still a bit tired from the flight and training throughout the week; maybe I pushed it a bit hard with a long flight behind me. I’m looking forward to maybe having a go at doing a supercross here, maybe try the first round and see how we go.

Motocross brakes designed by EBC Brakes for the fastest motocross racers give HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK the edge as they finish the 2011 British Motocross championship with a double podium

DOUBLE PODIUM FOR HM PLANT RED BULL KTM UK AT FINAL BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP
HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK concluded the 2011 British Motocross championship with a double podium as Tom Church and Jake Nicholls took third overall in each of the MX1 and MX2 classes for the final round of the series at Hawkstone Park yesterday.
In the MX1 class Church entered his final British Championship weekend determined to end on a high note. After qualifying his KTM 350 SX-F in third position, the 29-year-old racer gated into third in the first race. Kristian Whatley managed to get by on lap two of the 20-minute plus two lap moto, and Church concluded the race in the final spot of a four-way train from the front at the chequered flag.
In the second race Church got another good start and was in second by the end of lap one. In a three-way battle for the lead with Brad Anderson and Martin Barr, Anderson went down and Church was looking comfortable in second position. However, a charging Anderson caught the KTM pilot with four laps to go and Church was forced to settle for a still strong third position.
In the final moto of the day Church holeshotted the race and put his all in as he stretched a lead over the chasing pack. It was looking like a perfect win for the KTM-ace, when in the last three laps Anderson reeled him in and he was forced to settle for a respectable second place, which confirmed a podium finish for his final British MX1 championship outing before his retirement next year.
In the MX2 class, after qualifying second, Nicholls didn’t get the best of starts into eighth by the end of lap one, while teammate Jordan Booker also had a disastrous first lap after crashing in the second turn. Nicholls managed to fight his way back to fifth place, while Booker went down again at the top of the notorious Hawkstone hill and was unable to complete the race.
In race two Nicholls, who is recovering from illness, got a good start and lead from the first lap. The 20-year-old racer put on a hard fight with Arnaud Tonus, who eventually got the better of him, in an exciting battle throughout the race to finish in second place. Booker gated into eighth place and settled into a steady rhythm to finish in ninth position.
In the final race of the day Nicholls gated in third and set about chasing Tonus while Booker also got a good start into sixth position. Nicholls had some issues mid-race and was forced to settle for second place again and third overall, while Booker had a race-long battle with Kayne Lamont, which he succeeded in to take sixth place and a strong ninth position overall.

Tom Church #4: MX1 3rd Overall
It’s been a good day, but also a tough day because the track rode really fast and everyone was pushing so hard. I managed to get on the podium at the end of it and it’s good to end on a high note. In the last race I really wanted to win it and I tried so hard, but I just didn’t have enough in the tank, although I’ve really enjoyed today. The team has been great. I was really lucky to get this ride, unfortunately with Graeme being injured, but it all worked out and they’ve done a really good job and my mechanic has worked really hard. We’ve still got a few more races left with the supercross though, which I’m looking forward to. I’d like to say thanks to the team and I’m glad we’ve had some good results. It would have been nice to get a win and I’ve loved riding the 350 SX-F, but I’m looking forward to the beach race next weekend at Weston then the British supercross series before I finish.

Jake Nicholls #45: MX2 3rd Overall
I got ill this week, as I’ve been carrying a bit of a chesty type bug with a sore throat, so I didn’t ride from Tuesday and I was a bit tight coming into today. In the first race I got a bit of arm pump and didn’t feel good at all, as I struggled to get my breathing and rhythm right. In the second one I managed to give Arnaud a bit of a fight and ended up second. Then in the third race Arnaud got out front and I tried to chase him, but he got away a bit. When I tried to push I struggled to breathe and then halfway in I had a bit of a bike problem. I lost a lot of time so I aimed to keep Bryan (Mackenzie) behind me, although I really wanted to push Arnaud to the finish. It’s been a really good three years and I’d like to thank Roger and his family, as well as my mechanic Wayne, as everyone has been really good to me. Thanks also to Fox and Shift as well as everyone in the team, the sponsors and so on, as it’s been good. Finally special thanks must also go to HM Plant, Red Bull and KTM UK for their sponsorship over the past number of years. It’s a shame I have to move on but I’m looking forward to my new challenge.

Jordan Booker #114: MX2 9th Overall
Qualifying was good, in fact the best it’s been all year, as I was seventh after superpole. In the first race I got to a bit of a bad start off the gate, and collided with Jake, but I came out about top 10. I then washed out in the second turn and was dead last. I put in the lap of my life and got from last to 15th in one lap and then at the top of Hawkstone hill I cleaned out a hay bale and went straight over the bars. Someone clipped the back of my head when I was down, so it was quite eventful! I have been feeling a little bit dazed since that. In the second race I had an eighth place start and dropped back one for ninth, but I wasn’t feeling great. I had a good sleep before the last one and came out guns blazing. I gated in seventh and got to sixth. I had a really good battle with Kayne Lamont. We were bar bashing and probably passed each other 10 times and I held onto sixth. I’d like to say thanks to all of the HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK team, as well as all the sponsors for everything this year. I’d also like to say a big thanks to Mark Stokoe for hooking me up with everything I’ve needed for this year too. I can’t thank everyone enough, a huge thanks to Roger Magee for giving me the opportunity to ride for him, as it’s been the best year of my life racing at the Grand Prix events. I’d also like to thank Tom Church for all his help both on and off the bike all year, even before he joined the team and I wish him all the best for the future.
Roger Magee: HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK Team Manager
It’s been a bitter sweet sort of day at the last round of the British Championship today. Jake was able to put it on the podium for his last ride with the team this year and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for the last three years, as it’s been good. We’ve enjoyed his progress since he came to us in 2009 and we wish him all the best for next year, even though we’ll be competing against him. Jordan finished the season well with a really stonking sixth place in the last race. He’s shown the potential that he has and hopefully he can continue that progress next year. With Tom it’s been his last British Championship race, which has been pretty emotional for everybody. To get the holeshot and lead the race in the last one he gave it his all and I’d like to thank him for his input since he joined the team earlier in the year. I’d like to wish him all the best in the supercross series, and I’m sure his life will change a lot in January when he becomes a father.

EBC are the best brake pads you can buy for Harley Davidson according to AMA GNC Dirttrack competitor Cory Texter

After Shayna’s historical win at Knoxville, which if you didn’t see, YOU have to check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAFXWUr-sec, I decided I needed to saddle up and try and grab a few wins myself at the Marion, OH half mile on saturday.
Saturday, I rode my Harley-Davidson XR 750 to two come from behind wins in the open pro and open twins classes. After bad starts, I worked my way past the leaders and checked out to two convincing wins. It felt good to be back on a cushion half mile as I haven’t rode one since June and it felt good to be a couple “cushion specialist” from Ohio. I also hopped on Erin Kissinger’s Kawi 450 and rode the 450 pro class. I never rode that bike in my life and it was far from set-up for me. I ended up battling with Chaz Springsteen who was riding a rocket-ship and gave him all he could handle and finished a close runner-up. Third place was over a straight-away behind. I think we were down 6-7 horsepower, but overall I had a fun time riding that class as well
The track started to get crappy late in the day Saturday, so I only rode one class on Sunday. The track got really dry and became one lined. They were trying to rush the program, so instead of giving us 8 lap main events like Saturday, they only gave us 4. I got off the line 5th, passed a few guys and got into 3rd and was working on 2nd. Before I knew it, the race was over and I got a 3rd. I was pretty bummed out, because I knew I was faster then the guys ahead of me as I proved it the day before. However, you got to take the card dealt and I just didn’t have what it took to win the 4 lap shootout.
We are starting to get our program together for 2012. Shayna & I are looking forward to our 2nd year together running our own team RLT Racing. Without some more support, it will be impossible to do. We emptied out our piggy banks and did the best we could this season. There are three races left. Minnesota, and two in California. We will continue to keep you updated. Thanks for everything!

durable motocross racing brakes and pads from EBC brakes key to second place finish in the 2011 Red Bull Pro Nationals championship for Martin Barr
Last modified on 2011-09-29 12:56:15 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Culham is known to be a fast track, and the first race saw Barr get off the gate in the lead, going on to lead the pack for another five laps before arm pump set in and rival Brad Anderson was able to force a move that relegated him to second. Teeth gritted, Barr battled against track and rivals Krestinov and Whatley to retain his second place throughout the race to the end.
The second race didn’t start as well as the first as start straight action crowded Barr out and left him in the middle of the pack. With swift manoeuvring Barr found himself in fifth soon after and this set him up to push for a top three position, but that plan came to nothing as his front end washed out and he went down hard. After restarting several places down, Barr then set to battle with team-mate Parker, taking his fourth place three laps later. Although his next goal was to beat Krestinov in third, it was not to be as time ran out. Together with his second place in the first race, Barr found himself on the podium nonetheless, albeit in third place.
For Parker, the first race was a nightmare. In the back of the pack after an atrocious start, Parker had to work hard to make his way forward, picking off rivals one or two at a time in the early stages of the race. As the pack stretched out and arm pump started setting in, he found himself stalking MX2 champion-to-be Elliott Banks-Browne for several laps, unable to make a pass stick. A brief shake-up in the running order then allowed Parker to push forward again, but the best he could achieve was a disappointing eighth at the finish.
Parker’s second race turned out much better with a start in seventh around the first few corners. Settling into a fast pace behind team-mate Barr, Parker then proceeded to pile on the pressure, progressing to fifth place soon after. After passing his fallen team-mate by mid-race, Krestinov was within sight, but a rapidly approaching Barr forced him back a place again. Not giving up, Parker remained stuck on Barr’s rear wheel all the way to the chequered flag in what was a superb race. The end result was a fifth in the race, and a sixth overall on the day. With the championship over, Parker finds himself solidly in fourth, his best result yet.
Team principal Steve Turner declared himself very satisfied with the team’s performance on the day and in the championship overall.
It’s been a good day!
he declared.
It’s been a good end to the Red Bull season with a podium for Martin which cemented his second place in the championship. He rode pretty well today; his first race was really good, but in the second race he unfortunately dropped it, but fought back to fourth. He’s had a good season, certainly in the Red Bull, so well done to him.
Nathan on the other hand had a terrible first race; he simply didn’t get out of the gate quick enough. It’s so tough when you don’t get out of the gate because this track’s so fast and they’re just gapping so quickly. I wasn’t too happy with that but to his credit Nathan went out for the second race with a much more determined attitude and got away at the start. He had a good race, battling with Martin all the way through, finished fifth, and cemented his fourth place in the championship. We’ve got to be happy with second and fourth, so happy days!
Nathan Parker:
Today wasn’t a great day; I struggled this morning in qualifying, the track was really busy and I couldn’t get a fast lap in. In the first race I had a bad start, got arm pump and struggled all the way through to eighth. In the second race I got a good start, didn’t get any arm pump, and had a good battle with Martin and Gert, rode good and ended up fifth. Not a great way to end the season but I’m still in one piece, so that’s good!
Martin Barr:
The day started off good for me; I made second in qualifying which I was happy about. In race 1 I went to the start, got the holeshot and started to pull away, then just got a lot of arm pump and Anderson got up on me and passed me. I didn’t give up, chased him all the way to the end and with two laps to go a few back markers really mucked me up. It still was a good race and finished second in that one. In race 2 I got a pretty bad start and had to pull my way through. I struggled a bit with the power difference with the big bikes, every time I’d get close to them at the bottom of the hills, they’d just open up and pulled that little bit away again. I was just making hard work for myself, I had a crash, the front-end washed out and I dropped back again, so I had all the work to do again. Eventually got back up to fourth, which gave me third overall on the day and second in the championship. All in all, obviously I’d liked to have won, but there’s always next year. I’d like to thank Steve and Boost Energy KTM, the bike’s been brilliant; I appreciate everything they’ve done this year. Obviously my mechanic Chris, he’s been brilliant and I’d like to thank him, and all my personal sponsors, thank you too.
Regards
Steve Turner

ATV brakes by EBC ensure that “it will take an act of God to rip the 2011 title from Pitts’ hands now”
Last modified on 2011-10-04 09:31:28 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Team Epic Racing Dominates Round 7 of OMA Pro ATV Nationals
As the flag went up for the start of the seventh round of the 2011 OMA Pro ATV Nationals, EBC brakes backed John Pitts shot like a rocket out to an early lead. Bryan Hulsey suffered a dead last start. The teammates have a way of finding each other at almost every race, and by the half hour mark of the one hour-forty five min plus one lap event, Hulsey made the passes necessary to move into second place and tried desperately to catch teammate Pitts who was almost 20 seconds out front. By the one hour mark Hulsey could see Pitts only 3 seconds in front of him. Pitts Started to dig deep and the two hooked up and laid down some seriously fast lap times. Hulsey was doing everything he could do just to keep John in sight with the new blistering pace being set. On the last lap Hulsey got his break when John had a lapped rider stall right in front of him and stopped him dead. Hulsey grabbed the lead only run out of fuel 1 ½ miles from the finish. Pitts took the lead back as Bryan switched to reserve and settled for second. This marked four wins in a row for Pitts and staked his claim to the 2011 OMA Pro-ATV National Championship. It will take an act of God to rip the 2011 title from Pitts’ hands now and likewise for 2nd in the championship for Hulsey.

Only the best superbike brakes and brake rotors for Yamaha R6 by EBC brakes will do for British Supersport Cup contender David Paton
Last modified on 2011-09-28 14:04:18 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
It’s already the penultimate round of the British Supersport championship this weekend at Silverstone! It seems only a few weeks since our first race of the year at Oulton park!
I’m going into this round with confidence after a really good run at Donington Park BSB two weeks ago. Everything went well there in terms of my riding and form. Unfortunately, the team suffered an engine failure in the final race causing a lot of damage to the bike. As this is the ‘supersport’ class, the engines are highly tuned and under a lot of stress so it is not uncommon for one to fail. However, the mechanics have worked hard on the run up to this weekend’s event to fit the new engine and prep the bike accordingly, including ‘dyno runs’.
So, Silverstone is a track I enjoy but I know that this weekend will be challenging as I have to find a good set-up on the R6 in limited time, having never previously been here on the 600. The 3+mile circuit will not be easy to master and with the relentlessly fast pace of the Supersport class, you can’t give an inch!
I’d like to say a big thanks to everyone helping us to complete this season including EBC Brakes.

New EBC GPFA series brake pads the best brakes for motorcycle roadracing ensure Danny Eslick reclaims the AMA SportBike title

EBC Brakes rider Danny Eslick celebrates second AMA SportBike title
MILLVILLE, N.J. (Sept. 3)
EBC Suzuki rider Danny Eslick once again proved he’s the best rider in the AMA Daytona SportBike class by clinching his second championship of the last three years Saturday at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
I don’t think this has sunk in yet,” said Eslick, who entered this weekend’s twin bill of races with a hefty 45-point advantage over Josh Herrin. “At first I didn’t think we finished far enough up there. I did know we had to be within a few spots of Josh to win it and obviously we were.
Eslick actually finished the race in sixth place, with Herrin, the only rider with any chance of catching him this weekend taking second. That actually reduced Eslick’s lead to 34 points, but the most a rider can earn in a single race is 32 so the title was clinched.
It was an awesome race, a perfect way to finish this thing out,I don’t know how many lead changes there were but there were a bunch, probably more than any race this year. There was seven of us going back and forth pretty hard.
At the beginning of the race there were a few times when I knew I should probably back off a little. I knew I was in a pretty good position and I didn’t want to give the race away by wrecking out. Taylor (Knapp) and Cory (West) put some pretty hard moves on me that were a little more risky than how I wanted to race so I held back a little to hold the position I was in.
Eslick clinched the 2009 SportBike Championship at this same facility in 2009. Last year he finished eight points behind Martin Cardenas.
It’s great to come back here and have a good, close race,” the Oklahoman said. “The guys just had everything together for me this year and the fans picked us up when we needed it. They’ve always been so awesome and supportive of me. I can’t thank them enough for always being there. I’m a lucky guy.

Braking with the best motorcycle brakes brake pads brake discs from EBC brakes “makes my job so easy” according to 2010 WERA National Championship winner Tim Hunt
Last modified on 2011-09-23 09:01:31 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Dear EBC!!
First off I want to thank you all for your support this season!! As the season draws to a close, we are in the hunt once again for the WERA National Championship in the A Superstock class. It is all due to you guys stepping up and helping out so much this year!
After winning that championship last year, we wanted to come back this season and back it up by defending it and winning it again!! We are 15 points ahead going into the last race of the season which is the WERA GNF at Road Atlanta. Historically we have done very well at Road Atlanta so I feel very confident that we will be able to finish it out on a positive note.
In addition to the A Superstock National Championship, we are 5 points behind in second in the A Superbike National Championship and plan to do our best to also win it as well. The competition is stiff and we know that it will be an uphill battle going into this last round but with the winning combination we have put together, we feel we can make it happen!
I need to give a special thanks to KWS and Millennium Technologies for building us 2 amazing Suzuki GSXR 1000’s for us this year. They took all of the components that EBC brakes provided and gave us a combination that made my job so easy!! I also want to thank Mike Goden from KWS for his support at the track. KWS sent Mike to provide support at the track for the team which was an amazing help and allowed us to do as well as we did.
Thanks again and looking forward to giving you good news in the weeks to come!!

Enduro Brakes from EBC set the pace and help Colton Haaker grab a podium
Last modified on 2011-09-20 10:26:38 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
EBC USA EnduroCross Riders Colton Haaker and Geoff Aaron have great success at National EnduroCross (Ontario, CA) with Colton Haaker finishing on the podium!
Ontario, CA (September 17, 2011)
The 2011 GEICO AMA EnduroCross series, presented by Lucas Oil made a first time stop at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California and KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak took the win in front of a large, enthusiastic crowd. Lucas Oil backed Colton Haaker took second ahead of factory Beta backed Cody Webb. Kyle Redmond finished fourth and Geoff Aaron finished fifth.
The afternoon got started with the 30 Expert riders doing a single lap against the clock running in reverse order of the current point standings to determine gate picks for the heat races. There is a lot of bragging rights on the line and Blazusiak was the final rider to take the track and set the fast time ahead of Mike Brown and Haaker.
Blazusiak, Brown and Aaron each won their heat races to take the best gate picks for the main event. Wally Palmer was among the top riders not make the main after a nasty tumble during his heat race. Jacob Argubright, Kevin Rookstool, Ryan Sandoval and Matt Oppen were among the other riders to miss the cut for the main event.
Blazusiak jumped to the front of the field at the start followed closely by Aaron and Haaker. Aaron stalled his bike on the first lap and then Haaker immediately closed in on Blazusiak and stayed close for the first half of the race before slowly losing touch. Redmond, Gary Sutherlin and Webb were equally close to Haaker and it appeared that any one of them could have taken second before Haaker started to pull a little gap. Sutherlin made a mistake to fall from contention and Webb applied pressure to Redmond to finally make the pass just before the white flag; taking the final podium spot. Aaron managed to work his way back up to fifth ahead of Monster Kawasaki’s Justin Soule. Sutherlin held on for sixth ahead of Brown, who had a pretty tough main event and lost a lot of ground to Taddy in the championship after coming into this event in second. Keith Sweeten, the youngster from Oregon finished ninth ahead of Destry Abbott and Rory Sullivan, who is a very accomplished Motocross and Off Road rider made his first main event after three years of trying finished 11th after a big crash in the rocks.
In addition to the Expert class, EnduroCross events include Open Amateur, Vet 35+ and TrialsCross classes. The top two finishers in each class also earn a spot in the Vegas Grand Championship Finals for each respective class. The Vet class was won by Todd Sciaqua over Kurt Nicoll and Baja Legend Johnny Campbell. The Amateur class was won by Eric Rhoten with Matt Crouch and Max Gerston rounding out the podium. The TrialsCross class had an amazing finish with Andrew Oldar making a last second pass on Mike Damm that ended with both of them crashing as they crossed the finish line. Twelve year old Ty Cullins took third.

EBC Superbike brakes work better than ever according to Joe Burns of Primo Racing
Last modified on 2011-09-15 10:01:41 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
I haven’t had time to send a race report from the last two meetings (Cadwell and Donington) as at Cadwell in warm-up the Kawasaki ran a crankshaft ruling us out of the race after qualifying 7th, 0.4 seconds off pole position. This was caused by some fibre material becoming detatched from the clutch drive plate and blocking an oil feed to the main bearing.
I was due to test at Donington the following day but obviously this was out of the question with the engine being seized, so I arrived at Donington with no set up data what so ever, and really was on a back foot all weekend. I tried various set ups and none of them quite worked. We made some changes for the morning warmup and bingo! the bike was perfect.
I got boxed in at the start and was in 23rd position going through Craner Curves. By lap 7 I had moved up to 10th position and was gaining on the riders ahead. While riding around the outside of a rider at Schwantz Curve he lost the rear and wiped me out, fortunately without injury and without major damage to the bike.
Looking forward to better luck for Silverstone next weekend (23rd-25th September) as we have already tested there and have setup data already.
The pads and discs are still working brilliantly!
Regards,
Joe Burns.

Best motorcycle brake discs and brake pads prove valuable for British Supersport Cup contender David Paton riding on Yamaha R6 using EBC Brakes
Last modified on 2011-09-13 13:39:12 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

David went into this 10th round of the British Superbikes weekend lying 2nd in the British Supersport Cup, so with only 3 rounds left including this one, he had to make Donington Park count.
Each round has 2 races for him, one on the Saturday, then the live televised one on the Sunday. He rode superbly on Mark Middleton’s Yamaha R6 which is decked out in the original Yamaha America yellow livery to win comfortably, leaving the series leader 4 seconds behind in 2nd place at the chequered flag.
Weather conditions were good, but Sunday was a little less settled and that race was stopped half way through the 18 laps because of a rain shower. David was leading at the time. In the restart shortly afterwards, David fought through to take the lead again, only to suffer a major engine blow up, taking him out of the race immediately.
He stopped safely and reported the risk of oil to the Marshalls who checked and red-flagged immediately to save others from coming to grief behind him. No points for David from this race, but he is happy that he now has the upper hand in the series in terms of ability to contest for wins at the remaining two rounds at Silverstone and Brands Hatch, and goes into these still in 2nd place in the series. No mean feat for the youngster from Loanhead, contesting a British Championship!
His team now has to work hard to ready the bike for this late charge, and he wishes to thank them all for their efforts thro the season. Also continued support from EBC.

OMA Pro-ATV Nationals
Round six of the OMA Pro-ATV Nationals traveled to Millville Minnesota to the famous Spring Creek MX Park. Team Epic Racing’s John Pitts pull off his third straight win followed by teammate and closest competitor in the standings Bryan Hulsey. These two have solidified themselves as the standard in the 2011 OMA Nationals.
Grabbing the hole shot, Hot Rods/Hot Cams/Pivot Work’s John Pitts rounds a corner heading to the MX portion of the track. The Duncan Racing/Vee Rubber sponsored rider claimed his third straight win in the OMA Pro-ATV Nationals for 2011.
Moose Racing’s/Precision Stabilizers/Maxima Oils backed Bryan Hulsey fought hard to close the early gap from a dismal start that his teammate (Pitts) built up, but time was not on his side and he finished 20 seconds behind for 2nd overall on the day at Spring Creek MX Park.
Missouri State OXC Championship Series
August 6th had Team Epic Racing traveling to Cairo Missouri for the second to last round of the Missouri State OXC Championship Series. This Championship Series has also been dominated from the beginning of the season by the two teammates of Hulsey and Pitts. This race was no different. The two established themselves as the leaders quickly and put on the best race of the year for the OXC spectators as the lead seemed to change a couple of times each lap. In the end Hulsey took the win only 1 second ahead of a hard charging Pitts.
Hiper Wheels/JE Pistons/Smith Optics’ Bryan Hulsey jumped out to an early lead at Cairo Missouri and the battle was on for the win. Spectators said that they would have never known that these two were teammates and friends the way they battled and banged off each other to the end. Hulsey ended the day with a slight one second gap on Pitts for the win.
Maier Mfg’s/Rekluse Clutch/Bosch Tools sponsored John Pitts fought hard and finished the day in second place as the teammates put on quite a show for fellow racers and spectators alike!
August 20 was the 10 Hour Heartland Challenge in Carlisle Iowa
Team Epic Racing came to the 10 hour heartland challenge to defend their Pro-Am title and 3rd overall from 2010. What they didn’t plan on were a couple of gremlins that seemed to pluck away at them over the course of the race. They had fallen back to as far as 5th in their class at one time, but their never give up attitude and determination pulled them back to 2nd place Pro-Am and 5th overall by the end of the 10 hours of grueling racing.
Quadtech/EBC Brakes/Exit Shocks backed John Pitts brings the team ride in from a valiant charge that brought them back to within striking distance of the class leaders
John Pitts hands off the ODI Grips/ Motion Pro/RK Chains backed quad to Bryan Hulsey around the time it is starting to get dark. The darkness was illuminated by PIAA Lights which is now fully behind Team Epic Racing for future races as well.
The Missouri State OXC Championship comes down to the last round
September 3rd saw the final round of the 2011 OXC Championship be decided at Mountain View Missouri. As the Pro class took off, Team Epic Racing’s Hulsey and Pitts were in 2nd and 3rd respectfully. Hulsey took advantage early of a mistake by the early leader and grabbed the lead and ultimately holding onto it all the way to the finish. Pitts fought hard, but would eventually fall victim to the extremely dusty and rough conditions and slip back to his only non-Podium finish of the season with a fourth place on the day which would be his throw out race for the season. In the end by winning the final race, Hulsey would emerge with the Missouri State OXC Championship by a 1 point margin over his teammate Pitts.
Spider Graphics/UM Performance/IMS Products backed Bryan Hulsey keeps the throttle down to make sure that he takes the win as well as the Championship at the final round of the 2011 Missouri State OXC Championship Series.
JE Pistons/K&N Filters/Liquid Performance’s John Pitts tries to fight through the dusty and rocky terrain of southern Missouri in an attempt to win the Missouri State OXC Championship. In the end it would be Team Epic Racing finishing 1st an 2nd on the year with Hulsey 1st and Pitts finishing in 2nd.
Local WFO series race
Sunday September 4th John Pitts traveled to Plainview Illinois for a Local WFO series race. He got the hole shot and lead for a half a lap when he got caught up in some trees and fell all the way to the back of the pack. From there he had some ground to make up and was able to make some passes on the extremely dusty track by taking advantage of some creek sections and some grass sections and eventually retook the lead and held it to the end of the race. At the finish he had over a 5 minute lead over 2nd place.
Vee Rubber Tires/Hiper Wheels/Kal-gard sponsored Pitts makes it look easy coming from the back of the pack to take the win an the WFO series race in Plainview Illinois.

Motorcycle brakes and brake pads performance contribute to making history again for EBC advocate Maria Costello MBE

MARIA COSTELLO MBE MAKES HISTORY AGAIN TAKING A DRAMATIC THIRD PLACE IN THE 350CC MOTORSPORT MERCHANDISE RACE AT MANX GRAND PRIX
- Barry Davidson takes 250cc honours.
Maria Costello MBE, made history by becoming the first woman to achieve two podium finishes on the mountain course by taking third place, with a dramatic push to the finish, in Monday’s Motorsport Merchandise 250cc race.
Racing a Bob Jackson Suzuki T20 two-stroke for the first time around the TT course, Maria set off from number 64 on the road and despite encountering traffic as early as on as Quarterbridge she was lying in fourth place, only 3 seconds back on third place.
Bob Jackson’s strategy to pit for fuel on lap three saw Maria move in to first place with a lead of almost 9 seconds from Barry Davidson with Peter Wakefield a further 4 seconds back in third.
Costello added:
Getting a board at Sulby Bridge with P1 on it put a massive smile on my face. I knew it would change once the others came out of their pit-stops. But it was a great strategy by Bob Jackson, especially with such wet and misty conditions the race could easily have been stopped early.
With Costello coming into the pits to refuel at the end of lap 3, Barry Davidson moved back into the lead with a 21 second ahead of Peter Wakefield in second. The Bob Jackson team did a great pit-stop and Maria was pushed off by Graeme Crosby – Daytona 200, Imola 200, Suzuka 8 Hours, and Isle of Man TTwinner, and rejoined the race in third place.
The chequered flag was out and Barry Davidson took the honours with a race time of 1:42.30.89 from Peter Wakefield (1:43.08.50) in second but there was drama unfolding for the final podium position.
Costello, who was the first woman solo competitor to achieve a podium on the mountain course in 2006, having closed the gap to 7 seconds in third place by the Bungalow, was reported to be stopping at Governors Dip.
The battery on the T20 had failed and the bike had stopped. Maria, without knowing that she had almost six minutes on the next rider in fourth place, paddled the bike out of the dip and then, with the chequered flag in view, pushed the bike to the finish line to take third place in a time of 1:47.31.88.
I thought third place was lost but I was determined to get a finish for Bob Jackson & the team and I was sure that you could push in, so I set off towards the finish line. Bob, Allan & Brenda have worked so hard to get the bike ready for the Manx so I wanted to repay them. I consider myself physically fit but I was looking down at my legs and willing them to keep going, I was running on empty. Huge thanks to Bob Jackson for putting together a fantastic little machine, other than the battery failure she pulled like a train, had a silky smooth gear-box and never put a foot wrong. Allan for giving me more than enough fuel to finish, Brenda for all the support, Paul for help in the pit-stop, Granty for suspension set-up & Crosby for the push out the pits – we made history.
An exhausted yet delighted Costello could hardly believe that after pushing the T20 a distance of almost 500 metres, she had still finished in third place and would be on the podium at a Manx Grand Prix for the second time in her racing career.
Maria will be competing again on Friday aboard the Steve Wheatman Team Classic Suzuki XR69 in the Manx Grand Prix Classic Superbike race.

September 2011
Tucker Rocky Dealer Show
To start the month of August off I flew out to Dallas for the Tucker Rocky Dealer Expo. Every year Tucker Rocky flys in a couple of their athletes to hang out and do a meet and greet with their customers. This year I was joined by fellow Speed and Strength athletes Bill Dixon and Dystany Spurlock along with a handful of other various Tucker athletes. The dealer show was well attended and I had a good time meeting with dealers across the country. This is one of the events I always look forward to every year.Perris Speedway Perris, CA
Perris Speedway
The weekend after the Tucker Rocky dealer show I headed out to Perris Speedway for a Pro Flat Track Race. After being off the flat track bike for a couple of weeks it felt good to swing a leg back
over the 450. I started the night off a little slow but before it was over I managed to finish in 4th place in the Pro Main Event.Victorsville Flat Track Race
No one ever forgets their first, and I will not forget my first Flat Track win! I have only raced a handful of Flat Track races so winning this quickly was a surprise and a special moment for me! The racing was great all weekend and there were a lot of talented riders on the grid. It is always good to get out there and spin some laps and get more comfortable on the bike. I have really been
noticing an improvement on my streetbike as a result of all the flat track and moto riding.XDL Round 5 Indianapolis, IN
Once again Indy held the finals for the XDL national points series. And once again the event and crowds in Indianapolis were off the charts. The weekend was a little rough for me as I took myself
out in my favorite event the Racing 905 Speed and Style. After jumping out to an early lead in the first round I hit a cone during the wheelie section and had to set down. I still ended the year winning three of five of the Racing 905 Speed and style events on the year. I rode to second place in the Wheelie Teach Wheelie Race. I won two of five of the Wheelie Races on the Year. I rode well though out the year in Individual Freestyle placing a solid top ten in points. I rode two great runs in Indy pushing really hard to find a podium spot, but due to an injury I was unable to ride the third round thus keeping me off the podium for the weekend. As the year winds down I am excited for the off season so that I can start to train for next year s title chase. This year has been a year of ups and downs for me in competition but I vow to come back next year and put myself on the top of the podium in a couple of stops.RedBull Military Tour
FT. Knox, KY
Another beautiful stop on the RedBull Military Tour this time at the legendary Fort Knox! The base was as great as I had heard! The trops were great and RedBull came out in full force setting up tents and bringing out the wings team. The base set up some tents of their own and were feeding anyone who would stop by and hang out! The attendance was good and I hope to make it back here next year! The month of August flew by so fast I barely had time to remember all of the greeat things that happened. Looking forward to September I am going to be really busy with a show program that is going to take me coast to coast and end up with me performing shows in Hawaii for the RedBull Military Tour at the end of the year. Ill be heading to the midwest to do a show at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and 29 Palms in California. I will also be doing some dealer shows in the San Bernadino area. If and when I get some down time this month I will be on the pedal bike and the dirt bike doing some cross training!

Motorcycle brake pads for Road Racing by EBC deliver results.
Last modified on 2011-09-08 08:31:57 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

EBC Brakes sponsored rider Marc McCullough has once again achieved great results in Northern Ireland last week. Twenty three year old marine engineer Marc travelled to his home town of Mid-Antrim during his Birthday week to take part in the Ulster Grand Prix and Dundrod 150, the fastest road race in the world!
Marc had a wonderful qualifying race in the senior support race on his Yamaha 600cc R6 when he came 8th out of 23 riders, but the final race had to be cancelled disappointingly because of vandalism done to the track. Eventually Marc made the final race having qualified 9th out of 40 riders in the Dunrod 150 National. Even though the conditions were totally horrendous Marc managed to finish in sixth place and won a cash prize.
Marc also qualified for another event called the Dunrod Challenge but it didn’t go ahead because of bad weather. His personal best was a speed of 111.7mph and was raised to 112.9mph.
For the future Marc is hoping to improve his bike then take part in next years North West 200.
He is supported by his partner, Kara, 24, and their 16-month-old son, Brogan. He thanked EBC Brakes for their continued support.

Motocross brakes by EBC make for a happy Birthday for Martin Barr
Last modified on 2011-09-06 13:42:26 GMT. 1 comment. Top.

BIRTHDAY BOOST FOR BARR AS HE TAKES OVERALL AT DESERTMARTIN
Desertmartin in Northern Ireland was the setting for the penultimate round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals this past weekend. For Boost Energy KTM’s Martin Barr, this was a special occasion as Desertmartin is a track he practically grew up with, and he celebrated his birthday on the eve of the race.
For Barr, the day could not have gone any better. Qualifying in first by over two seconds from his team mate Nathan Parker, he then proceeded to dominate the first race from the start with a stunner of a holeshot and after building a substantial lead in the first few laps was able to cruise to victory from Anderson in second and Krestinov in third.
The second race went off without a hitch again, again starting with a holeshot, but this time with Anderson right on his rear wheel in the first few laps. Barr gradually pulled away from the Championship leader but as rain poured from the heavens and with sand in his goggle mechanism Barr’s pace began to drop, however the confidence he had gained from his first race win showed as he played it smart, keeping the muddy goggles on as long as possible, aware that his cautious approach would let his rival creep ever closer. Eventually, the goggles ditched, Barr speeded up again and pulled away, streaking across the finish line in first again for the overall win.
Parker’s day started off very well with a second place in qualifying, but in the first race, whilst running in fourth place, things took a turn for the worse. A bad landing after a step-up launched him face-first into the banking, tweaking his neck yet again and skinning his knuckles on the bike. After dusting himself off, Parker remounted mid-pack and after a couple of slow laps to gain his composure he put the hammer down and was the quickest rider on the track in the middle of the race as he fought his way through to fifth place in his class by the chequered flag.
The second race saw Parker take a more cautious approach to protect his position in third behind Barr and Anderson. As the rain made things exceedingly difficult for riders throughout, Parker built up a substantial lead over the pack of rivals behind him. Although third across the finish line, he had to make do with a fourth overall on the day, pipped to the post by Gert Krestinov.
Steve Turner, team principal, commented: “It was a great result for Martin today; a good weekend with the fastest qualifying and a holeshot in both races. He cleared off in the first one, in the second came under pressure from Brad in the middle of the race but held him off and won again. It is fantastic for him on his own track on his birthday, simply superb.
A shame for Nathan, really. He qualified second and in the first race looked pretty comfortable, was sitting in fourth and then went down big. To be fair to him, he got back up, dusted himself off, and rode through another load of pain to get back to fifth. In the second race he had a reasonable start, came through to third, and had a comfortable race there. He ended fourth overall and missed out on the podium. But, not a bad race for him, so all in all the team had a pretty good weekend!
Nathan Parker:
Today went pretty good, in qualifying Martin and I went 1-2. I felt good and went faster and faster throughout qualifying. For the first race I felt comfortable, I had a decent start, then had a big crash and hurt my neck again, then sort-of nursed it around, caught back up from being way down to fifth and kept some points. For the second race I had an alright start, not the best but still in the top five, caught a couple of riders and was in third.
With Martin and Brad on their own in front, I had a massive gap behind me so I just kept it on two wheels when the rain came down. So, a good day.
Martin Barr:
Today went perfect! I was quickest in qualifying by 2.3 seconds, got the holeshot and just put the hammer down, got that bit of a gap and pulled away. In the second race I got another holeshot, started to pull away and then around two-thirds through my goggles stuck, and I tried to hold onto them for as long as I could before I whipped them off. Brad caught right up with me, but once I got them off I started pulling away again, so, really good. Went 1-1-1 today, I just want to keep that up now for the rest of the season and prove that I can beat Brad. At the British championship I should’ve won here but I learned a lot from that round and put that to good use today.
I’m happy enough with that. With my birthday yesterday it was a good present!

Podium Miss at Hawkstone for Boost Energy KTM
Hawkstone is often the place for epic battles, and the fifth round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals this past weekend was no exception. With the championship going into its closing rounds, the push for points becomes more and more important, and for Boost Energy KTM this is especially so with its two riders in prime position to benefit from good results at this challenging location.
Qualifying started well with Martin Barr setting the second-fastest time of the MX1 class, while Nathan Parker ended the qualifying session in fifth. The first Pro Nationals race went to the line shortly before one o’clock and it was Barr who was up front with Grand Prix regular Tommy Searle from the start. Although championship leader Brad Anderson soon made his move to displace Barr from runner-up position, a shake-up in the latter half of the race and a lost exhaust on Anderson’s bike saw a change in the ranks again that returned Barr to second place at the chequered flag.
For the second race, things got off to a bad start with Barr in seventh place. As the front-runners consolidated themselves into a pack of MX1 riders, Barr was able to move into reach of another podium. Disaster struck in the closing laps as inexplicably, his bike started reacting sluggishly and he fell back. On the final lap, team-mate Parker passed him to relegate him to sixth. This gave Anderson sufficient points to leapfrog Barr to the podium, leaving him in fourth overall on the day.
For Parker, the restarted first race got off to a reasonable start in the middle of the pack, where he found himself in a gaggle of MX2 riders, but he soon shook them off to chase after Gert Krestinov. The cat and mouse game continued throughout the race, and at the chequered flag, Parker crossed the line in fifth. A time penalty imposed on Anderson for noise moved Parker up one place, to fourth.
The second race saw Parker in fourth around the first lap, but mid-race, a miscalculated jump jolted his head again, worsening his pre-existing neck injury and costing him two positions as he struggled with the pain. Parker continued to ride through the obvious discomfort and pushed on in sixth, taking one more position in the final lap to ascend to fifth for fifth overall on the day.
With two more rounds to go, the team’s championship positions are virtually unaffected by the day’s events, with Barr still solidly in second and Parker in fourth.
Team principal Steve Turner commented: “The day started off ok with Martin in second and Nathan in fourth in the MX1 class. Until the last race they were both running really well, but then Nathan over-jumped a jump in the woods and put his neck out again. You could see when he’d done it because his body language changed completely. But fair play to the lad, he kept going to the end and got a fifth overall. Martin had a slight problem with his bike, which developed around five laps from the end which meant that he couldn’t push hard and give it 100%, leaving him to nurse it home. He got a sixth for a fourth overall. All in all results-wise it’s not the best day we’ve had, but it’s still OK for the championship.”
Martin Barr: “The day started off good; I qualified in second. In the first race I had a good start, pushed Tommy and then made a few mistakes, Brad got by me and they pulled a bit of a gap. When I got going again I started catching Brad and then he had a problem with his exhaust and I pushed past him to finish second. In the second race I had a pretty bad start and a few laps from the finish the bike lost some of its power which meant I couldn’t push as much as I wanted. It’s frustrating but I’ll be back next week at Desertmartin where I’ll be going for the win.”
Nathan Parker: “Qualifying was all right, I ended up fifth. In the first race I had a good start, I felt comfortable, and then the race was red-flagged. After that I got a terrible start and was way down in the first lap and pulled through to fifth which was alright. Then Brad got penalised and I ended up fourth in MX1. In the second race I was going all right after a good start, over-jumped a jump and hurt my neck again. I started dropping back at first but managed to get it together and rode the best I could until the end of the race.”
Steve Turner

Podium Ohio National Enduro making Back-to-Back-to-Back wins
I am pleased to report to you after 3 back to back wins in the AMA NEPG National Enduro Series. The win streak started in Michigan at the infamous Jack Pine National Enduro July 17th aboard the new Husaberg TE300. This also marked my first victory in the NEPG series. Two weeks later I dominated in PA at the Rattlesnake National Enduro winning 4 of 6 special tests, topping the day by 58 seconds.
While training during the month between the Rattlesnake and round 9 in Ohio I tore my ACL. I saw my surgeon for this knee injury and set up the corrective surgery immediately. There was still time to race the Ohio national enduro before the surgery so I raced round 9 of the National Enduro Series injured. I won the first test but lost some time tangling with a barbwire fence in the next test. As the day progressed I showed good speed but started experiencing some pain and fell to fourth position after the fifth test. In the final test section I focused on perfection and made up 49 seconds on race leader Mullins to take my third consecutive series victory.
Since setting my pace on winning I moved to 3rd in series points, within 12 points of the championship. I will go for surgery 9/2 to be healthy for the 2012 championship.
NEPG Standings After Round 9
1. Charles Mullins 210 (2 wins)
2. Russell Bobbitt 209 (4)
3. Nick Fahringer 198 (3)
4. Cory Buttrick 181
5. Michael Lafferty 144

Maria Costello MBE, made history by becoming the first woman to achieve two podium finishes on the mountain course by taking third place, with a dramatic push to the finish, in Monday’s Motorsport Merchandise 250cc race. Also Barry Davidson takes the 250cc honours!
Racing a Bob Jackson Suzuki T20 two-stroke for the first time around the TT course, Maria set off from number 64 on the road and despite encountering traffic as early as on as Quarterbridge she was lying in fourth place, only 3 seconds back on third place.

EBC Extreme Pro Brake Pads for a Suzuki GSXR 1000 gave Tim Scarrott a phenomenal experience!
Last modified on 2011-09-05 10:30:37 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

My name is Tim Scarrott and I race a GSXR 1000 with the AFM in Northern California. I am an expert racer competing in the Open Production, Open Grand Prix and Open Superbike classes. I have been using EBC brake pads on my street bikes and dirt bikes for 20 years and have always found their quality to be unparalleled. Like many riders, my passion for motorcycles and my desire to compete at ever higher levels drives me to constantly push the envelope of my own skill level and lately I have been focusing on braking. Like learning to ride on worn out tires, I put a set of EBC Extreme Pro™ Brake Pads through their paces; I used the same pads for race practice, 3 races and then 3 trackdays riding at full pace and coacing students (probably 30 sessions), then 1 more day of race practice.
I expected the EBC pads to lose their strong initial bite and they did – but they continued to allow me to clock times within 90% of my personal best. On Saturday August 27th, I competed in my first ever “Formula Pacific” race and put in a set of fresh EBC Kit Pads. I was literally locking the front wheel, bedding the brakes in the hot pit before I went out for my warmup lap. The fresh set of EBC Extreme Pro™ Brake Pads were confidence inspiring, allowing me to brake deeper into every corner and I set a new personal best laptime. Sunday’s races were even better with a 2nd Place finish in Open Production with new personal best laptimes. If you don’t think a set of EBC Kit Pads can make that much difference – keep in mind that you can’t go fast if you can’t slow down. These pads are phenomenal and EBC is without a doubt the industry standard!

OMA Series Round 7 – Winterset, IA
Paul Whibley and Jordan Ashburn started off the month right by absolutely dominating Round 7 of the Parts Unlimited OMA National Series, finishing first and second overall. Paul grabbed the holeshot and never looked back as he led the race from start to finish. Jordan spent the day chasing down his teammate aboard his 2011 Obermeyer GYTR Yamaha YZ250F, which was an unusual choice considering he raced in a class full of 450’s. None the less Jordan pushed his bike to the limit and managed to secure a solid 2nd place finish, putting both Yamaha riders on the box for an outstanding day of racing!
“This was a great race,” says Whibley. “It was at a new location and the course was actually pretty good. I’m really happy with how well my Yamaha YZ450F worked and I’m proud of Jordan for pushing his Yamaha YZ250F to the edge and getting on the podium next to me.”

National Enduro Series Round 9 – Zanesville, OH
Recently a new trend has been sweeping the National Enduro Series….well, perhaps this trend isn’t new, perhaps it’s a comeback, or even a preview of what’s to come! What is this is trend you ask? TWO STROKES… That’s right… Zingy, Smoky, Snappy, Two Strokes and for the past 3 rounds of the series almost every pro rider has lined up on one. AmPro Yamaha’s Thad Duvall was no exception to this sudden and almost instant change. Arriving with a fresh new Yamaha YZ250, Thaddeus spent the day charging hard and earning himself a well-deserved 2nd place finish only one second behind 1st place.
“The Yamaha YZ250 two stroke was so much fun to ride,” says Duvall. “It was light, nimble, and fast. Overall, I had a great time today. The course was nice and I was only 1 second away from winning.”

Tennessee Knockout – Sequatchie, TN
Both Paul Whibley and Jordan Ashburn received an invite to the first inaugural Tennessee Knock Out. The race was staged with a rather peculiar format that put riders head to head on short technical trails in a race against the clock. The top racers were then put in an all-out battle on one of the most difficult courses imaginable. Both Paul and Jordan rode side by side most of the race with Whibs finishing 5th and Ashburn finishing 6th.
“This was a gnarly course,” says Ashburn. “I gave it all I had today against some of the best riders in the county. I had fun and I’m really happy with how I finished considering the difficulty of the course and the level of the competition.”

Big Sky XC – Big Sky, MT
Now a very rare event happened on the other side of the country… I decided to go out and race! Both myself and Jason Raines made the long hall up to Big Sky Montana for a race that can only be described as unimaginably brutal. The course was laid out on the beautiful and pristine alpine village of Big Sky, Montana. Jason lined up in the pro class and I line up right behind him in the Open A class. Raines fired off the line and charged his Yamaha YZ250 into the first corner in 2nd place. My flag dropped roughly a minute after Jason’s and my Yamaha YZ450F started up first kick also putting me into first corner in 2nd place. Unfortunately, the start would really be the only good part of the race for both of us. The dust was overwhelming and Jason’s bike decided it had enough. About one and one half laps in, Jason was forced to DNF. My story wouldn’t be any better as I clipped a large tree about a quarter of the way up the mountain. The lights went out and my day was done right after it began.
“This was an awesome event,” says Jason Raines. “We were literally on top of a mountain… I think the highest point on the course was over 10,000 feet. The promoters really did a great job putting this thing together. It was like riding an extreme Enduro. I’m a little bummed with how the day ended short but it was a great experience and I will definitely be back to race it next year.”

Best Motocross brakes by EBC are great in tough conditions at the British GP
Last modified on 2011-08-23 15:19:11 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
RACE REPORT – British GP
Matterley Basin just due east of Winchester hosted the most anticipated event of the British motocross calendar this weekend – The British Motocross Grand Prix. Boost Energy KTM was once again given the opportunity to field both riders, and the team looked forward to making a good impression in front of its fans and sponsors.
Saturday morning’s free practice set a good time for riders Martin Barr and Nathan Parker as they familiarised themselves with the extraordinary circuit. Pre-qualifying practice later in the afternoon set the starting positions for their qualifying race at seventeenth and twenty-fourth. While Barr cemented his position more firmly in the qualifying race late on Saturday, Parker had to make do with twenty-sixth.

Then Sunday dawned – Race day. Although the start for Parker left him in the rear of the pack and the usual first-lap pushing and shoving dropped him back even further, he worked relentlessly to push forward again, returning to twenty-fourth by half-distance. However, much to the team’s disappointment, Parker landed short off a downhill jump, banging his head on the bars and aggravating the neck injury sustained originally at the German Grand Prix. This earned him a trip to the local NHS hospital to make sure there was no serious damage and he forfeited his place in the second race. He nonetheless returned to the circuit later in the afternoon to lend his support to team-mate Martin Barr.

For Barr, the first race started off in the middle of the pack after a good start. He struggled to make much progress through the pack, having his hands full with regular Grand Prix veterans Kevin Strijbos, Jonathan Barragan and Xavier Boog. By the half-way mark, Barr found himself settled into a rhythm, and soon chased after Carlos Campano and Tom Church to the end. Fifteen position and another three points in his pocket was the reward.
The ill-fated second race got off to a bad start, and Barr found himself in the back of the pack trying to make up time quickly. After a bad landing, Barr sprained his wrist and tried to continue, which only made matters worse. With the fifth round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals being held on the next weekend he made the decision not to jeopardise his current second place in the standings and pulled in just before the red flag was raised for an incident elsewhere on the circuit. The decision not to race the restarted second race was made without much ado.

The points earned in the first race gave Barr a twenty-third overall for the day, and places him thirty-fourth in the world championship overall.
“What can I say?” mused team principal Steve Turner at the end of the day.
For Martin the first race was pretty steady, got stuck in there and finished with an eighteenth which was not too bad. In the second race he was running alright and looked comfortable, but then he landed wrong off a jump and bent his wrist back. It wasn’t worth the risk trying to finish because of our races next week. Nathan injured his neck again after short-jumping a down-hill jump and that was the day done for him. All in all, not the best day we’ve had, but I’m hopeful that the lads will be okay for the Red Bull at Hawkstone.”
Nathan Parker:
Good. Bad. Worse. Disaster. That’s how it went for the whole weekend for me. Free practice on Saturday went well before we had a little rain shower that made the track pretty slippery. I struggled a little bit in pre-qualifying practice, made a few big mistakes and ended up twenty-fourth. In the qualifier I was up to twenty-second when I made a few mistakes and they dropped me back to twenty-sixth. In the only race today I had a terrible start and was pulling through the pack in the first few laps. Then I cased one of the big step-down jumps into the middle and hurt my neck again like I did in Germany and that was the end of my day. I’ll be straight down to the Physio to see if he can get me back into shape for next week ”
Martin Barr:
The weekend started off OK, in first free practice I was twelfth and in pre-qualifying practice dropped back to seventeenth. For the heat race I got a pretty good start and it took me a few laps to get my rhythm going and eventually finished seventeenth. In the first race today I got an OK start, but I’m just not used to the races being so long, and compared to the British championship it’s hard to jump in at the deep end. I had an eighteenth in the end but I wasn’t happy with that result. I wanted to be in the top fifteen or twelve. In the second race I had a really bad start and was trying to come through; I landed short on one of the table tops, bounced into the braking bumps after and sprained my wrist. I tried to continue riding but it just wasn’t happening, I was making mistakes and I didn’t want to go down and get hurt again, so I pulled out. Overall I am pretty disappointed with the way things went but I’m hopeful that my wrist will be okay and I’ll be fighting for the win at next week’s Red Bull Pro’s.”

Steve Turner

EBC patron Maria Costello MBE has unfinished business at the Manx Grand Prix
Last modified on 2011-08-23 14:49:46 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Maria Costello MBE, the BERING motorcycle leathers ambassador, is returning to the Isle of Man, after a successful TT, to compete on two very different classic machines at this year’s Manx Grand Prix.
The former TT female lap record holder will be competing on a two-stroke around the TT course for the first time in her career when she contends a Bob Jackson Suzuki T20 in the 350/250 Classic Grand Prix on Monday 29th August.
Her second steed is the familiar Steve Wheatman owned Suzuki XR69. Maria was denied a podium finish, on this bike, last year when the steering damper bolt broke. Maria is therefore keen to be reacquainted with a bike she feels she has unfinished business with and hopes to improve on her 2010 5th place, in the newly titled Classic Superbike race on Friday 2nd September.
Costello’s enduring passion for the 37.73 miles of real roads that make up the TT course will be further boosted by working with seven times TT winner Mick Grant, TT podium finisher Bob Jackson, mechanic Paul Boulton & sponsor Steve Wheatman who are all supporting her efforts at this year’s event.
Maria added,
The opposition will be tough, the XR69 a challenge to ride and the T20 two-stroke will be a whole new experience but I’ll relish every lap, especially with the dream team I have supporting me. I can’t wait!
Maria will continue her support of CoppaFeel!, her chosen charity of 2011, by displaying CoppaFeel! logos on the XR69 & T20 race bikes and by collecting donations in CoppaFeel! collection tins.
Costello adds, ‘TT race fans were really generous and we collected a brilliant £160 in the CoppaFeel! collection tins in June. If we get the same at the Manx I’ll be over the moon.’
For more information about the charity go to: www.coppafeel.org
Maria will commence practice for the Manx Grand Prix on Monday 22nd August. Visit www.manxgrandprix.org for more Manx Grand Prix Festival information.

EBC Brakes Help Junior Rider Alex Rockwell Achieve Podium Finish

Podium Finish for Junior Rider Alex Rockwell
Nearly 400 of the worlds top enduro riders from 30 countries converged at Kotka, southern Finland for the 86th ISDE. The competitors faced 1500kms of off road riding over 6 days and would be a true test of man and machine. Midwest Husaberg UK team riders Si Wakely & Alex Rockwell had be chosen to ride for team Great Britain, Si in the 6 man Trophy team and Alex in the 4 man Junior team. Si had competed in the ISDE many times before but this would be a first for Alex and the rest of the junior team so it would be tough for them. Conditions couldn’t have been much worse for the 6 days of competition as it rained for pretty much the whole event making the sandy, stony terrain very treacherous and demanding on both rider and machine. Disaster struck the Trophy team almost immediately with team member Greg Evans crashing on the very first test and break his collar bone putting him out of the event and making it a difficult start for them and meant they could have no further mishaps and Si rode to a safe 64th overall. The Junior team had a good start with all riders starting cautiously at first then gaining in confidence with the team finishing in 3rd with Alex finishing in a very respectable 59th overall and top GB junior rider. As the week continued the tough conditions took its toll on machines and Jordan Rose from the Trophy team and Jack Rowland from the Junior team had mechanical failures on day 3 meaning the Trophy team would now suffer heavy time penalty points and the Junior team had to make no mistakes if they were to stay in 3rd place. The final Day 6 arrived with the Trophy team down in 10th place but the Juniors were still in a fantastic 3rd and Alex had improved his positions during the week to start the final day in an impressive 33rd overall. Only a motocross type race lay ahead but the worst possible happened with Alex crashing on the first corner dislocating 2 knuckles and fracturing a finger but he had to get back on and ride his bike to the finish in tremendous pain to earn the Junior team 3rd and himself a brilliant 32nd overall. A great result for everyone involved and an impressive reliability record with all 5 Midwest Husaberg supported machines finishing the grueling event.

Penultimate Maxxis round cements championship top three for Boost Energy KTM with help from EBC motocross brakes

Penultimate Maxxis round cements championship top three for Boost Energy KTM
Boost Energy KTM travelled to the Scottish Borders at the weekend for the penultimate round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship at Duns. Although much rain had fallen in the week, which prompted fears of a repeat of the 2009 championship round held there, it turned out to be perfect for the day’s racing.
The team saw its two MX1 riders Martin Barr and Nathan Parker put in two solid qualifying results with a fifth and a seventh, on which Barr was able to improve in the super-pole to go to the line in second.
The first race saw Barr off to a good start and holding his own in the top three. Battling with Kristian Whatley and Brad Anderson early on left Barr slightly worse off as he had to make do with a fourth place by the end of the race. Parker also found himself in the front of the pack, but soon suffered from his customary first-race arm pump that left him on the defensive against the likes of GP veterans Tom Church, Gordon Crockard and Gert Krestinov. A crash and a couple of big mistakes cost Parker a few places leaving him to cross the finish line in a disappointing eighth.
The second race again found Barr to be in the thick of it in the front of the pack after an excellent start. Third place appeared to be his, but with only laps to go, he was put under pressure by a recently returned Billy Mackenzie and Church, conceding his position only after a hard battle to leave him in fifth place at the flag. Parker was not able to make much progress after a modest start but with two laps to go he made a fantastic pass round the outside of Crockard at the end of the whoop section to steal eighth.
The final race saw Barr in the front yet again, but this time a small mistake put paid to his podium ambitions, dropping him back a place and putting him square in the cross-hairs of his own team mate. Parker, who had started in ninth in the final race, caught a second wind and leap-frogged stricken riders throughout the first half of the race before encountering Barr. Parker then followed up with yet another move and left Barr in sixth for the remainder of the race, taking fifth himself for his best result of the day. The end result was a fourth overall for Barr and an unlucky eighth overall for Parker with just two points separating four riders.
With the championship decided at Duns, Barr still has his sights on second position at the final round at Hawkstone, but a third place in the championship is already guaranteed. After moving up to seventh in the championship, Parker still has a chance to progress into the top five.
Team principal Steve Turner mused: “We’ve not had the best day, but it wasn’t too bad either. Both riders basically struggled with the track; it was really gnarly out there, lines were difficult to find and every rider found it tough going. Their results are positive for the championship though. Martin secured third place in the championship which is in the bag whether he races the final round or not. That’s great for him and the team, and he still has a shot at second place. Nathan got better as the day went on; he has moved up to seventh and he’s still in for a shout for top five, so we’re all fired up for the last round.”
Martin Barr: “The day started off OK, in qualifying I was fifth, but the super-pole went better and I got a really good lap in. We changed a few things before super-pole and I ended up in second. In the first race I got a pretty good start, was going all right. I then lost my rhythm and ended up fourth in that one. The same happened again in race two, I had a good start, but with the track being so technical, it was really easy to lose your rhythm, especially when you’re trying to pass people, and I ended up fifth in that one. In the last race I had a half-decent start, felt that it was going good in the first part of the race, and then I made a silly mistake and ended up sixth eventually. Overall a really disappointing day, I really like this track and things just didn’t go my way today. You live and learn and I just want to fight forward for the next round.”
Nathan Parker: “Today wasn’t the best day; I started off reasonable with a seventh in qualifying and super-pole. It was really wet so the track got really rutted, almost like a GP track. In the first race I got an all right start, got arm pump like every weekend, rode steady, but I had a small crash which threw me off-track and I ended up eighth, which I wasn’t really happy with. In the second race I got another all right start and finished eighth. In the last race I didn’t get a very good start, and pulled through the field with people making mistakes all over the place and crashing out. I just kept picking them off and finished fifth. I finished on a high which is not a bad end to the day.”

Steve Turner

Motocross brakes by EBC give another fighting podium for Nicholls at duns
Last modified on 2011-08-23 10:27:05 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

ANOTHER FIGHTING PODIUM FOR NICHOLLS AT DUNS 15th August 2011
HM Plant Red Bull KTM’s Jake Nicholls scorched to another podium finish for the penultimate round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship yesterday, despite a challenging day at the office at the Duns track, with teammate Jordan Booker also enjoying more top ten finishes for 12th overall. In the MX1 class Tom Church enjoyed some solid results after a tough opening race for fifth overall.
In the MX1 class following heavy overnight rain at the Scottish track Church finished the first qualifying session in fourth followed by a fifth position in his one flying superpole lap.
However, it wasn’t an easy day for the KTM pilot. After getting a poor start to the first moto Church began making his way through the pack, but despite his continuous best efforts, a number of further tumbles left him with a 13th place finish. In race two Church gated into fifth and had a more consistent outing to take Martin Barr in the latter part of the race for fourth place at the chequered flag.
In the final MX1 race of the day Church got a strong start to the 20-minute plus two-lap moto into third place. Mid-way through the moto Billy Mackenzie made a pass, but in the super bumpy conditions Church enjoyed another solid ride as he continues to accustom himself with the KTM 350 SX-F for fourth position at the finish line to earn fifth overall.
In the MX2 class Nicholls took up first place in the timed session, followed by sixth place in superpole with Booker in 14th position.
In the first race Nicholls had a coming together with another rider and went down off the start before remounting dead last while Booker had a good start into 10th place. With Nicholls coming through the pack with incredible determination to fifth position, Booker enjoyed a solid ride to finish in 10th place.
In race two Nicholls gated into sixth place with Booker struggling off the line into 17th. Nicholls fought his way to the front aboard his KTM 250 SX-F, and led the race until halfway around the last lap where a battle with Arnaud Tonus concluded in a nail-biting race to the finish, resulting in Nicholls being forced to settle for a still impressive second position. Booker endured a tough race after a big crash where he broke his front brake to finish in 19th place.
With the track dry, rutty and bumpy for the final race of the day it was another tough one for HM Plant Red Bull KTM’s MX2 duo. Nicholls got a good start but collided with another rider early on and had to pick himself up again to fight his way through the pack for a fourth place finish. Booker didn’t get the best of starts but came through to a strong ninth place.
The team is now looking forward to going to Matterly Basin for the British Grand Prix next weekend.
Tom Church #4: MX1 5th Overall.
In the first race I was riding good, but I made three mistakes and crashed a lot, which absolutely blew the race apart, so I finished 13th. Then in the second race I got an alright start, and had to come through a bit to finish fourth, then I was fourth again in the last one. I think I had the pace to be fourth all day. I didn’t have any more, but I didn’t have any less. I just have to keep working. The bike is good; we haven’t changed much, it’s just every week there’s something new like today with all the ruts, and I feel a bit rusty still. For me it wasn’t a great day as I really expected more. I’m really looking forward to the British Grand Prix next week, I just need to work on my speed a bit.
Jake Nicholls #45: MX2 2nd Overall:
It started off good today – I was first in the opening session and superpole was quite steady so I ended up sixth, which was alright. The first race was a nightmare, as I got a bad start, which is frustrating as I’ve practiced a lot of starts in the week, and then I got hit in the first turn and crashed, then my bike got towed down the track. I came from last, then had a coming together with someone in the air and crashed again, so I went back to last and I fought really hard to get back to fifth. I rode good, it was just bad luck really. In the second race it was an average start, but I got into the in the middle of the race and rode a good race, but I made a mistake halfway around the last week and Tonus got by, which cost me the win. In the last one it was a nightmare really. I finally got a good start then ran wide in the first corner, and came together with someone and went down. I was last again and I struggled to get my head straight as I was so gutted, but I rode good and got back to fourth. I can’t wait for the home Grand Prix now. I really want to put on a good show and Duns has been good practice as it’s technical here, and it’s technical at Matterly. It’s going to be great.

Jordan Booker #114: MX2 12th Overall:
It’s been a bit of an up and down day. I couldn’t get a rhythm in qualifying when the track was really muddy, so I ended up about 14th. I really could have done with a better gate pick, but that’s just how it was. In the first race I didn’t get a good start, but I came through to tenth. I felt that I could have been top six if I’d pushed earlier on. In the second race I had a really bad start and messed up the first turn, then ended up right at the back. I was coming through then two laps later I had a really big crash and broke my front brake. I rode as well as I could without the brake but it was hard with the ruts. In the last race I didn’t get a good start again but kept pushing and got ninth in the end. It’s not too bad, but frustrating as with better starts I think we could have had an even better overall result.
Roger Magee: HM Plant Red Bull KTM Team Manager
We’ve had another good event here at Duns, and despite the bad weather over the last few weeks the track held out well so thanks to the organisers for making it happen. In the MX1 Tom had a few unfortunate incidents in the first race, but he showed in the next two races he can run in that top four and he’s getting well acclimatised with the bike now, so we look forward to taking him to our home Grand Prix at Matterly, then the following week he will race at Southwick AMA national as it’s something he’s always wanted to do before he perhaps retires next year. I’d like to say thanks to Davy Coombs for making that happen. In the MX2 Jake had a couple of unfortunate errors where he was tagged at the start of the races, but he put on a strong show, although these races are just two short to really make any huge impression from the back of the field. In race two he led up until the last lap, but Tonus managed to get by and fair play to him for winning the championship. In the last race Jake was right up there but let a few guys come by. He came back through to fourth and was definitely setting the fastest laps of the race. Jordan has had another couple of top tens, which shows he’s had a lot of improvement this year since the start of the season. A special well done also goes to Ryan Houghton for winning the MXY2 Championship today as he’s worked hard all year and brought it home in the final race today.
HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK would like to thank its sponsors EBC Brakes.

Great brakes for Yamaha R6 by EBC, brings success for Marc McCullough
Last modified on 2011-08-23 09:06:42 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Hi EBC
Thank you first and foremost is supporting me, without your help I wouldn’t of made it to my events!
I have attached some photos for you of me and the bike to show us in action. I have listed the results below.
Mid Antrim 150 – qualified 8th on the grid (newcomer to the circuit!) unfortunately the race was cancelled as someone had put a mile and a half stretch of oil on the track! Hopefully they catch the person!
Dundrod 150 National (600cc) – qualified 9th out of 43 riders on the grid, finished 6th in the race! A phenomenal result on a standard Yamaha R6.
Dundrod 150 Challenge (250 – 1000cc) – qualified 23rd out of 67 riders on the grid! Unfortunately due to severe weather the race didn’t run.
International Ulster Grand Prix Supersport (600cc) – This race has the tuned bikes with the hundreds of thousands of pounds budget, no way on earth was I going to win the event, this was the event seen all over the world and broadcast on television. My main aim for this race was to beat my existing personal best average speed of 111.8mph lap – The result was I did a 112.7mph lap. A result I am over the moon with as this was a standard engined bike I was riding.
The group photo I have attached was featured in the Belfast Telegraph, a great opportunity for all my sponsers. As well as the race making headline news on BBC NI, the start of the race was featured with myself in the front line! My aim for next year is to make it to the North West 200, and if you would commit in helping me further I would be able to compete far more competitively.
Alongside this, my partner Kara Rann is campaigning for the Isle of Wight TT! This has made headline news in the MCN and the Motorcycle Monthly (A full shot of my bike was in the Motorcycle Monthly) She is having a website designed for this campaign, her campaign has attracted almost 4,000 followers already. This is yet another HUGE opportunity for sponsers, as the group photo will be the main photo for the website. A massive selling point for any companies looking to help for the forseable future.
Let me know what you think of the photos and results, and whether you would be willing to help out for next year!
Once again thank you so much!
Best regards as always.

Best enduro brakes by EBC lead to 2 podium finishes for Midwest Racing

2 Podium finishes for Midwest Husaberg UK riders
Conditions were near perfect for rounds 4 & 5 of the Metzeler ACU British Enduro Championship at Knighton in Mid-Wales after rain the previous week diminished into a dry and sunny weekend. The traditional Welsh enduro terrain of forestry combined with the undulating grassland hillsides would provide an ideal venue for the UK’s best enduro riders to do battle. The course would consist of 3 laps including a MX and cross country special test each lap with the MX test ridden twice at the end of the day. On Saturday it was to be Si Wakely riding his Husaberg TE250 who adapted well to the grassy MX test setting consistently fast times during the day, and really showed his speed and fitness by being the fastest on the last 2 tests of the day ending in a very impressive 2nd overall.
Fellow team mate Alex Rockwell started slowly on the first day and it wasn’t until the afternoon that he was matching the speed of the leaders which left him in 6th overall on day one. Sunday would be the same course but 1 lap shorter and it was Alex Rockwell, riding his Husaberg FE390, who now found his speed by narrowly missing setting the fastest time on the first test by 15 hundredths of a second. A couple of small mistakes in the cross country test meant Alex would finish the day in an impressive 3rd overall. Team mate Si Wakely also having made a couple of errors in the treacherous cross country test again showed that he is the master of fitness by being the fastest rider on the last test of the day earning him 5th overall.
Alex said “The event was great a perfect combination of enduro riding and special tests I really enjoyed the event, the bike ran spot on all weekend with the suspension being the best yet. We are still making minor changes all the time to get the bike how I like it and we are improving all the time, we were a little lucky at the end of day 2 when I had some track tape caught in the rear wheel and sprockets which then melted the gearbox sprocket seal losing a lot of oil but I only had to ride steady back to the finish”
Si said “I really felt comfortable on the grassy MX tests and the bike was awesome on them, I was a little disappointed about making a few mistakes in the cross country tests on day 2 but it’s brilliant to be back on the podium the first time for me with Husaberg”
Joint team manager Simon Molter said “The conditions were perfect for the event and the club should be congratulated. Si and Alex both showed there speed this weekend which we are pleased with and our continued testing with the 2 new riders is showing in our ever improving results”
| Results | Day 1 | Day 2 | Overall |
| Si Wakely | 2nd | 5th | 3rd |
| Alex Rockwell | 6th | 3rd | 5th |
| Jon Hinam | 13th | 11th | 11th |

Brakes for Harley Davidson made by EBC deliver race wins again for Jared Mees on his XR750. American made EBC series GPFA sintered pads are the best aftermarket brakes you can buy for fast street, for longest life and even win races for people according to Jared Mees. EBC PFA series pads are available at all quality dealers for race use along with the long lasting silent EPFA series for heavy street cruiser applications.

Jared Mees: 2011 Champion – Singles and Twins American All Star/Hot Shoe Flat Track
Jared Mees has won both classes of the 2011 All Star series. Next to the AMA Grand National Championship series, the All Star is the series raced by more of the National-numbered riders. Steve Nace Racing, the Promoter, tries to schedule the races in as close proximity as possible to those of the Grand National series, giving fans and riders an extra day of racing. For instance, prior to GNC’s first flat track races of the year in Daytona, All Star holds a couple of half-miles, first in Savannah GA and then in Barberville FL. In the All Star series, whenever the track is a half mile, both the 450cc Singles and the 750 cc Twins classes are run, whereas in the Grand Nationals only one class is raced on a given day.
Commenting on his Championship, Mees credited EBC products with playing a major role. “EBC Brakes gave me the edge I needed to win, not only the two 2011 All Star Championships, but also to win three GNC races this year, so far, including the first one, the biggest and most prestigious race in the series, the Springfield Mile.
“Since we run rear brakes mostly”, Mees continued, “except for the TT events which have at least one right-hand jump and one right-hander turn, we really have to rely on our brakes. At over 100 hp on my XR 750 Harley Davidson, I would recommend using only EBC Brakes. Dirt Track racing lap times are very fast and we do not have the many corners of Road Racing or Motorcross. Therefore, we have to really pay attention to getting our hole shots, making sure we get good starts. My bikes also now have the new EBC Clutch, virtually guaranteeing me a great start. This is vital in order to clinch the GNC Championship. At this time, after 11 rounds, which is about half-way, I stand 2nd in the Combined Championship, only 3 points behind the leader. In the Twins series, I am in 1st place. So, thank you, EBC, you do make the difference!”

Best Motorcycle discs for Road Racing and Track Day riding are EBC Pro-lite XC according to pr1mo Racing’s Joe Burns who uses these in combination with the new EBC sintered GPFA series racing brake pads

I was testing at Brands GP circuit yesterday. Used the Brembo racing discs for first session, and then for the next session fitted the spare wheels with your EBC X-Series racing discs. Took it easy for the session to give them a chance to bed in, went out in the next session after they were left to cool, and they were definitely an improvement over Brembo’s racing disc.
The feel was really progressive, but positive and extremely powerful under hard braking. I also felt the bike was more controlled over front brake trailing into fast corners. The combination of your GPFA compound racing pads and the X-Series brake discs gives me the best brake I have ever had.
Best Regards,
Joe Burns

CHURCH AND NICHOLLS ON THE PODIUM AT FOXHILL – 25th July 2011
HM Plant Red Bull KTM enjoyed a strong outing yesterday at the Foxhill circuit, near Swindon for round six of the British Motocross Championship, as newly signed Tom Church and teammate Jake Nicholls put on three good performances to both finish third on the podium in the MX1 and MX2 classes respectively.
Church, who only joined the team a few weeks ago, has soon got to grips with his KTM 350 SX-F and set the fastest lap in the timed session before concluding superpole in fourth place.
The 29-year-old racer got a good start to the first moto into fourth place, and was soon battling Alex Snow on lap two of the 20-minute plus two-lap moto. A good block pass on Snow on lap three gave Church third place and he then made a break to catch the leaders. In the final two minutes a charging Kristian Whatley had caught the KTM pilot and made a pass, although Church finished a strong fourth place for his first outing for the team.
In race two Church had a problem with a faulty gate, but got his head down and worked his way through from last to an impressive sixth place. By the final race of the day the track had become very dry, dusty and loose. Church got a steady start into eighth and put in some strong laps around his local circuit to move up to fourth by the end of lap two. Church hunted down Snow again and took the third sport with four minutes plus two-laps to go to confirm a podium finish for his HM Plant Red Bull KTM debut.
In the MX2 class Nicholls qualified fifth after superpole with his teammate Jordan Booker in 11th. In the first race of the day Nicholls got a good start and was in second place by the end of lap one, with Booker in eighth. Nicholls was pushing hard, but was unable to do anything about race leader Zach Osborne and was also taken by Elliot Banks-Browne mid-race. The 20-year-old racer recovered some rhythm towards the end of the race where he settled for third. Booker finished in 11th place.
In the second moto of the day Nicholls holeshotted his KTM 250 SX-F, although Banks-Browne took the lead before the end of lap one. Arnaud Tonus was soon on the tail of the KTM pilot while Banks-Browne broke away at the front, and Nicholls lost a place on lap four and five. Undettered, Nicholls continued the fight and benefited a place with Osborne crashing, to cross the line in third position. Booker recovered from a poor start to come through to a strong ninth place.
In the final race of the day Nicholls was determined to put things right, although a bad start gave him all of the work to do. Nicholls hunted down Neville Bradshaw and took up third on lap two of the race, by which time the leaders had gotten away. The KTM-ace got his head down to chase Banks-Browne, whom he passed with impressive style by leaping on the exit of the arena to take up second place with three minutes to go, to conclude a challenging day at the office with a podium. Booker also made progress after improving from 13th on the first lap up-to 11th at the chequered flag to finish the day in the top ten with a solid ninth place overall.

Tom Church #4: MX1 3rd overall
“It was a tough day but the outcome has been good. I had good speed this morning, although I got a bit tired in all the races, especially in that last one. The first race was good, and in the second one I just did my best to get back to sixth. I didn’t hit the gate, it dropped and bounced back up, then caught my back wheel and I went over the bars, so I just did what I could. Then in the last one, again I came through and we got a good overall finish for my first ride with the team. This week we’ll be getting ready for Lommel. It’s going to be tough as I’ve only been riding a week and haven’t done the Grand Prixs this year, but we’ll just do our best and the distance is going to be hard but we’ll have to see.”

Jake Nicholls #45: MX2 3rd overall
“Today was a strange day for me, and I think it was due to the lead up to the race. I have been training really hard in the sand ahead of the Lommel GP this coming weekend and then on Thursday when I would of normally ridden hard pack, I raced Stefan Everts’ charity race, so I was a little bit out of sync with the rock hard track to start with. However, halfway through the day and by the last race I was where I needed to be, but it turned out to be the only race I didn’t holeshot and therefore I got held up in the early stages, letting Tonus get away from me. I’m disappointed in my results today, as it’s not good enough, but I learnt a lot again today and I was riding good once I found my feet, although I wanted to win. Lets hope the training has paid off for next weekend.”

Jordan Booker #114: MX2 9th overall
“Qualifying was pretty good and I made it into superpole, although I had a few little issues with the bike on the superpole lap and ended up 11th, which wasn’t too bad. In the first race I almost holeshotted and got a good start. In the second turn a couple of people went down and I got caught up with them, then dropped back and came through to 11th. In the second one I got a really bad start and was around 20th, but I made some good passes and got back through to ninth. I got a good gate in the last one but then got a bit smashed at the first turn and pushed right out wide. The track was really dusty so it was hard to pass in the first few laps when everyone was in a big bundle, but I managed to get through to 11th, so it was a consistent day.”
Roger Magee: HM Plant Red Bull KTM Team Manager
“It was good to be back at full strength at the British Championship with Tom Church joining the team in the MX1 class. It turned out to be a good day with podiums in both classes in MX1 and MX2. It wasn’t ideal for us to be going to the hard ground of Foxhill, as our riders have been preparing for Lommel. Jake has been practicing in the sand and he seemed a bit rusty, but it’s the same for everybody and he still had some good results to get a podium finish. Tom has had a difficult few weeks, but he’s had a little time on the bike in the last week to get it set up. To get third overall despite a defective gate in the second race is really good for him, he just needs more bike time under his belt to prepare for the Grand Prix races. Jordan has had three consecutive top 12’s and showed some good consistency today. He is getting acclimatised to racing at this level, although next weekend at Lommel will certainly be a big test for us.”
HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK would like to thank its sponsors EBC Brakes.

Over £400 was raised for Great Ormond Street Hospital at the Cheltenham Harley-Davidson open weekend.
Streetfighters Magazine donated two VIP tickets to be raffled off to join the Cheltenham Harley-Davidson and EBC race team at the British Superbike meeting and rounds 6/7 of the Harley-Davidson XR1200 Trophy at Brands Hatch on the 7th August the proceeds going to Great Ormond Street Hospital. The lucky winners will be treated to a day they will remember for ever. They will have a privileged view of what goes on behind the scenes and a hands on role in helping me and the team prepare for the race.
The EBC supported Harley-Davidson XR1200 was on display at the open weekend and drew a lot of interest from the visitors. I was on hand to talk about the bike and race series and one of my race tech’s Elliott, who works at the dealership, was there to answer questions on the technical side.
Harley ride outs a custom bike competition and a live band were some of the other attractions over the weekend

Quality roadracing brakes by EBC bring good fortune to Superbike Champion Racer Alan Schmidt

Hi Team! We’ve been battling the tough luck all year – and this is the first weekend yet where I haven’t either crashed out of my race, DNS’d because of a mechanical issue, or broken crankshafts! So I guess that’s good news. Well, anything but the previous results are good news by my standards. Despite only finishing 6 of the 8 races so far I have clawed my way back to the leaders position in the run for my 8th consecutive #1 plate. Check out the details of some dry and wet adventures from this past weekend in Portland, OR.

New Motorcycle Roadracing Brakes help Maria Costello MBE ride to more race wins
Last modified on 2011-07-25 09:30:47 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Maria Costello MBE and the CMS supported pizza race bike took yet another top-ten finish in the Irish Supertwin championship, this time during it’s debut at the famous Skerries road races.
The bike that Maria built, affectionately nick-named the pizza race bike, has proved to be a more than capable road race machine in the hands of the BERING leathers ambassador.
Starting from 15th place on the grid Maria avoided the incident at the first corner and rode a solid race, improving her lap times by almost three seconds, to finish 9th in her debut at the Skerries road race.
Maria comments:
“The mass start combined with one of the most slippery and tightest first corners was always going to be interesting and one rider went down. The road ends draw you in too and my Sigma slipper clutch definitely got me out of trouble on more than one occasion. I’d managed to stay out of trouble at the start, got my head down and aimed for the rider in front, which seemed to work. Mark Morgan showed me his wheel in to Finnegan’s corner on the last lap but I managed to defend my position until the chequered flag. To say I’m happy with another top-ten finish is an understatement.”
Even the daunting, tight and twisty back roads couldn’t deter newcomer Costello from making sure she came home smiling from an event she holds in high regard.
“This is one of the best road races I’ve competed at but it’s not just the racing it’s the people and the warm welcome you get here at Skerries. Having a local family of Costello’s makes me feel at home and having three Costello’s compete and finish in the same race must have been a first.”

Costello’s home-built Supertwin is based on a Kawasaki ER650 and is still being developed. It was only whilst ironing out a rough-spot low-down in the power on a dyno at the Bush road races, that a problem was revealed and once resolved gave the ER another 5 horse power and 5 more lb of torque.
Costello adds:
“I’ve got sponsor Tony Morris, engine tuner Tony Holmes and BF Tim McGivern to thank for all the assistance in building this Supertwin but we’re no where near finished. Its one big learning curve that doesn’t stop with the build, the suspension set-up is something that, with a little outside advice, we’re learning to do ourselves.”
Maria is hoping that her next outing on board the Supertwin will be at the Dundrod 100 & Ulster Grand Prix.

Racing brakes for Kawasaki by EBC gave Joe Burns a favourable season start with Pr1mo Racing
Last modified on 2011-07-20 12:22:35 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

I have joined the Pr1mo Kawasaki Racing team for the rest of the season. Oulton Park was my first opportunity to meet the squad and race the 2011 Kawasaki ZX10R for the first time. I had tested the bike on two trackdays, one at Cadwell Park, the other at Donington Park earlier in the week.
First free practice gave me the feedback and opportunity to change the suspension settings quite radically. We continually changed settings as I got a better feel for the bike during qualifying sessions, ending up 12th on the grid. Bizarrely the organizers in their wisdom, decided to have morning warm-up the day before the race at 6pm, something no one in the paddock has ever heard of!
The team had made more changes for the suspension for this warm-up session, and I can honestly say the bike felt as good as, if not better than any 1000cc bike I have ever ridden and I was really looking forward to the race.
Come race day, the heavens opened and it poured with rain all day. This put me on the back foot, as I had never ridden the Kawasaki in the wet and the team had no data for wet settings what so ever. We were not given a practice session in the wet conditions as per ACU rule book.
The race started in a tropical like downpour. By the start of the 3rd lap I started to get a feel for the way the Kawasaki handled in the rain and started to move forward, but there was many crashes due to the horrendous conditions, and after 4 laps the race was red flagged and the clerk of the course took the ridiculous decision to say the positions at the end of lap 4 would be classed as a race result. The ACU handbook clearly states if a race has run less than two thirds distance, there must be a restart!
My final position I was credited with was 9th. Which also keeps me in 9th position in the British 1000 Superstock Championship.
It was thoroughly enjoyable working with such a professional team, and having a team mate as easy to get on with as the highly experienced Chris Walker.

Best EBC Brakes for Harley-Davidson make for a podium finish for Gary Byrne

EBC Brakes on podium at BSB meeting again
Oulton Park with its undulating lay out and an assortment of fast and slow corners makes it one of the more physically demanding tracks on the 2011 race calendar; add to that changeable weather conditions, a broken heel, a big Harley XR1200 V twin and you’ve got the ingredients for a very interesting race weekend.
Free practice was in wet conditions and the track was very slippery in places but I was getting perfect feeling from the EBC GPFA pads and hard braking was not an issue for me. I finished the free practice in 5th which I was happy with but was hoping to improve for qualifying. My heel was still causing me problems but not enough to stop me racing the Cheltenham Harley-Davidson XR1200
The afternoon qualifying took place in dry sunny conditions. After six laps I felt I had a handling problem and suspected a slow puncture. On lap nine I was in seventh and wanted to push harder but was unable to due to the bike sliding. As I entered Cascades I had a massive slide with the Harley going side ways. I managed to save it and decided I would have to pit.
Gavin, my race tech, said the primary chain adjuster had come out and oil was leaking onto the back tyre. This meant qualifying was over for me which pushed me back one place to 8th. Thankfully we had until the following afternoon to get the bike repaired.
Gavin made a phone call to Cheltenham Harley-Davidson’s sister shop in Oxford and arranged for the parts we needed to be brought to the track. Early Sunday morning Brad from Oxford Harley-Davidson arrived with the parts. Gavin and Elliott, the unsung heroes of the team, got to work, repaired the the bike, at the same time fitting a new clutch and a new set of tyres.
The weather was changeable but as the morning progressed the rain set in, and by the time my race was out conditions were poor with heavy rain and a fairly strong wind. The race was shortened to five laps because of previous delays and worsening weather.
Once the red lights went out, I got a reasonable start; visibility was bad and there was a lot of standing water, making conditions tricky to say the least.
By the start of lap three I was in fourth, I settled in and closed on third place. We swopped places a few times but I decided to wait until the final lap and make my move on the last corner. I knew the conditions at that part of the track were slippery as the oil flag had been shown most of the race.
As we approached the last corner the other rider took a defensive line but I was prepared for this. I was so confident with the feel of the EBC brakes that I was able to brake on the most slippery line and square the corner off to make the pass and get a better exit. It was then a drag to the line with me taking third place.
Without the dedication and commitment of Gavin and Elliott my race techs who keep the Cheltenham Harley-Davidson in perfect order, the backing of EBC, and their staff, I would not have been on the podium, thank you all very much.
Pictured is Gavin hard at work on my XR1200
My next race is at Brands Hatch on 7th August.

Racing brakes by EBC travel to Nuremberg and back for the Grand to Ring Challenge
Last modified on 2011-07-15 11:37:22 GMT. 1 comment. Top.

The Grand Ring to Ring Challenge are a team of 14 friends who drove their cars to the Nuremberg Ring on a 1200 mile trip from Hinckley in Leisestershire via France & Belgium and back, to help raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of a colleague Paul Huddlestone who died of the illness last year at the age of 27. The challenge was undertaken by Jon, his brother and 12 other drivers in 6 teams who managed to raise over their target of £15,000. They have now gained a grand total of £16,154.81.
The mid 90′s saloon cars were rebuilt into a full visual replica of the British Touring Car Championship race cars by the dedicated 14 drivers, with their own money with a limit up to £1000. Jon and his brother had already exceeded the limit and contacted EBC Brakes to source some new brake pads for the front and rear of their car which originally came with Redstuff brake pads already fitted and been very happy with their performance. EBC sent on a set of Yellowstuff brake pads to help towards the lads challenge that have been fitted into a Peugeot 406 3.0GLX.

EBC motorcycle brakes are great for any kind of racing according to John Pitts
Last modified on 2011-07-15 10:37:52 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

John Pitts has been trying out some other kinds of racing to help with XC racing for seat time and to help promote his sponsors.
On June 18th I did my very first TT race ever. I had a blast. It is such a change compared to XC racing. I raced two classes that night the A class and the +25 class. After the heats and the main I ended up 1st in the +25 class and 3rd in the A class.
After racing TT the first time I had so much fun I could not wait to go back and do it again so over the weekend on July 9th I went back for another go around to see if it was just beginners luck or what. I raced the Pro-am class and the A class. At the end of the night I was 2nd in the A class and 4th in Pro-am class. I can’t wait for the next one, I will be there!
Thanks everyone for your support!
John Pitts
