Michael Ridgway has been using Extreme Pro EPFA-HH (front) & MX-S (rear)
EBC Brakes are the best brake company around. Whether I’m putting down countless laps on the local motocross track or I’m going through tight back woods I know I can trust EBC Brakes to stop me on a dime every time. They never fail and they last the longest out of any brake pads around and their brake rotors are made of the highest quality you will find in a rotor. Other brake companies can’t compare to the quality of these pads and rotors and they are the only ones I will put on my bike. Period.
Michael Ridgway
The EPFA series feature a blend of tungsten and moly metal and were developed after comparing with 7 major competitors products. The new materials heat cycles better, feels better at the brake lever, last longer and beds in faster. If you want superb brakes, EPFA pad series are what you need.
The EBC MX-S series are sintered copper alloy, MX-S pads also have excellent durability in sand, wet and mud riding and are at the same time less aggressive to the brake rotor, perfect for racing in all weather conditions and different terrains.

Alastair Boulton of STM Phoenix is hoping that forthcoming 2012 season will be as prosperous as the last two.
After being crowned as the 750MC RGB Overall Champion and Class B champion in 2010 and Class F champion in 2011, Alastair is sticking with the winning formula of using Yellowstuff pads by EBC Brakes.
Using Yellowstuff pads give Alistair a great advantage, as the Yellowstuff pads do not require warm up but do get even stronger under the heat of hard driving. Even up to truck weights these pads grip and do not heat fade. (The Yellowstuff pads, are not a low dust pad and if your desire is for a low dust premium street use pad, you should consider EBC Redstuff)

Part of the 2011 Mid America Ford Meet in Tulsa was road race events at Hallet OK. It is a 1.8 mile, 10 turn Road Racing course. Located just 35 miles west of Tulsa, OK. Hallet is one of the region’s most popular motor racing tracks. It has over 80 feet of elevation change and is considered Technically Difficult. If you ever get the chance to run here you will not be disappointed.

I had a fantastic time running here. They had it set up to run clockwise on this day. I have to say it was really nice and I think I like it better than counter clockwise. I prepped the car with EBC Bluestuff pads on all four wheels and used my stock wheels and Pirelli tires. The car handled very well and I was able to perform quite respectably for a car on street tires. As a fact I was never passed by another street car only full race prepped cars. And you can imagine some of the big V8 Shelby’s were less than happy getting passed by a V6 car, the biggest advantage of EBC Bluestuff NDX is their bite from cold and progressive brake feel and the ability to bring a car to a complete stop allowing drivers to brake late into the corners.

The roar of the Bassani exhaust system garnered a lot of attention. As I went around the track people started coming out to the fences to see what was making this different noise. The 3.7 motor really has a sound of its own and Darryl Bassani made is sound as best as it could.

I was able to make 5 20 minute run sessions. Later in the afternoon the 100+ F track temps was a bit on the hot side for a supercharged car. However as soon as I pulled in the pits it cooled right off. This car handled very well. Justin From LRS also took his 3.7L Mustang out on track the day before and had similar fantastic results.

There were 3 straits in which I hit triple digit speeds. The Mustang EBC Bluestuff Bake Pads did very well. I was quite impressed with them. Now after a few laps they still would start to fade a bit. I have a brake duct cooling kit but was unable to get it installed before this event. I was also using Valvoline Dot 4 semi-synthetic fluid and by the end of the day I had a soft pedal.
I can’t wait to go back!

“Had to the time to install the EBC BlueStuff NDX pads along with ST Suspension. Drove car for 4 days lightly around town/work before bedding the pads with speed/heat.
This Mustang package came stock with OEM Performance Friction street pads (not the Z-Rated, but a compound between full street and the Zs). An upgrade over the OEM base pads. But still left the driver lacking great cold bite and response.
The NDX pads are designed for street and track usage for heavier platforms. Meant to give the driver cold bite and progressive feel for cars that need to come to a complete stop (v. aggressive speed scrubbing without stops (eg. track day)). With driver my Mustang is in the 36xx range. NDX is the perfect application for the Mustang.
For those wondering about the Yellowstuff, I run Yellowstuff pads on my Time Trial SVT Focus. Its a much lighter car (2815 with driver).
EBC YellowStuffs Review Here
These NDX pads deliver exactly what they promise. Great cold bite and more bite as the you work heat into the system.
Some squeak after pads got hot. Zero noise on the street unless you really heat them up (like an autocross). Dust is was low and easily washed off after the autocross. In the 5 days post event, I have yet to clean the wheels. Dust is lower on street use.
In the autocross, pads had bite and consistency throughout the day. With a co-driver and ambient heat in the 90s (course temps in the 100s) there was zero fade after 12-15 autocross runs. Co-driver took 3rd in PAX and I took 4th. We both noted that you could brake late with confidence. Positive pedal pressures with smooth release.
Still finding that the EBC pads have been keeping their promise and delivering across multiple car types and racing. Very happy to run them.

Ford Mustang Brake pads by EBC work great on the street and track
Last modified on 2012-01-03 14:18:37 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
“The stock Brake Pads that came on my Performance Package V6 Mustang were supposed to be more aggressive than Ford’s regular street pad. That may be true but they underperformed to my standards. I have been accustomed to a nice pad that is suitable for autocross and road course use. Besides a nicer pad will help give you confidence on the street when we all know stopping distance can become an almost daily issue.
Bluestuff NDX is a high friction sport and race material that can be used for aggressive street driving and certain types of track use.
I put these pads on before I took the mustang around the track at Hallet. You can read more about the EBC Bluestuff brake performance at Hallet I was very impressed with their performance at the track. They held up lap after lap for the whole day. These pads have also help up great on the street. I have had very little issues with squeaking. These pads do not need to “come up to temperature” before they perform well. These Bluestuff pads also work in the rain. I plan on running them all year long.

This blog has been taken from http://www.scikotics.com/forums/showthread.php?356232-EBC-Yellow-Stuff-Brake
“A while back I began my search for brake upgrades that could improve my Autocross time without breaking the bank. I decided pads and stainless steel lines were the way to go and after some research, went with EBC pads. (still researching the lines) So here is my review of the EBC Brakes Yellowstuff Pads for the tC2. If you choose to get the Redstuff or Greenstuff pads, you will see some differences.
Pros: Neck breaking stopping power without a full brake upgrade. Pads break in quickly. Clean, smooth stopping. Very easy installation.
Cons: More brake dust (thus more squeaking) than stock.
Review: Bottom line, these brake pads are great. They stop my car as effortlessly as Jason Bourne taking down a local bad guy. Given the relatively low cost for the performance gains and the importance of brakes on any car, I would definitely put these on the “must have” list of mods.
The 3 main levels of pads EBC makes is Greenstuff (very low dust with the same stopping power as stock), Redstuff (same amount of dust as stock, but more stopping power), and Yellowstuff (street-legal racing pads). If you know me at all, you know I’d have to think harder on whether or not to roll up my windows when I wash my car than on which pads I’d want of those three. So EBC sent me Yellowstuff pads.
When I first opened the box, my heart sank as I saw the inner box said “Pontiac Vibe & Toyota Matrix” on it. Thankfully there is a Google and I was quickly able to verify these were in fact the correct pads. Whew!!! I installed the pads that night, which took about 30 min total.
Taking it easy for the first 150 or so miles, I was surprised to find out even the Yellowstuff pads are very tame during light braking. At first, I wondered if they were going to be any better than stock in raw braking power. Oh buddy… These pads are deceptively powerful. The first time I decided to stop a little faster (what I would consider “normal” braking) was coming off the freeway. Applying the same pressure (and feeling just like stock pads used to) I was at almost a complete stop only halfway to my intended stopping point. From there, I turned on the road to my house, and at the next light, decided to use a little more pressure… which sent everything on my passenger seat flying. After a quick inventory to ensure none of the stuff now on the floor was broken, I had only one word, “Cool!”
The latest step for my review is with what I consider firm braking. If hard braking is what you do during a race or to avoid hitting a child running out into the street, firm braking is what I would do if I realized I couldn’t make a yellow light before it turned red. With the new pads, firm braking sent my ABS into a frenzy. Much like hard braking with my stock pads, firm with the new ones overpowers the stock tires and the ABS goes crazy trying to keep the wheels from locking up. While this is certainly impressive, it poses one problem. My new pads have way more to give than my stock tires can handle. I feel like I have a supercar and can only drive it up to 45 mph. Ugh. But I will be getting new tires fairly soon, so I will continue to update my review as I can.”

Upgrade brakes for towing are EBC Yellowstuff and they work great….read reviews here

EBC Brakes have helped Chris Greenhouse to win the RallyAmerica Central Region Group 2 championship for the last four consecutive years.
That has meant thousands of miles travelled to and from events all over the United States. Chris uses his 2000 Chevrolet Express Van to tow his race car to and from events and recently upgraded to EBC Yellowstuff brakes.
My crew and I all end up taking turns driving the van when going to events. We all immediately noticed the difference between the EBC Yellowstuff Truck and SUV brake pads and regular store-bought pads. The pads have much more initial bite than regular pads and they have exhibited no fade even when towing the race car and trailer. EBC Brakes claim “Towing brings extra loads and that mushy feel of many stock or low friction aftermarket pads does not inspire confidence. EBC Yellowstuff gives you as much bite as you can get from a stock system and in most cases will give a noticeable brake improvement under loads of towing.” The crew have all stated that the new brakes give them much more confidence while towing.
Chris has already been working hard getting ready for next year and he will be back in action again at Sno*Drift Rally in Atlanta, Michigan, USA in late January 2012. Sno*Drift will be the first event of the 2012 RallyAmerica National Championship series.
I would like to thank everyone who has assisted me in winning four straight regional championships and we look forward to standing atop the podium again in 2012. And my crew is especially grateful for the EBC Yellowstuff brakes that help to keep our rig safe en-route to rally events all over the USA. Special thanks also go out to John Romero at EBC Brakes USA for keeping me well-equipped for the 2012 Rally season.

EBC Bluestuff pad review by Lotus Racer Joel Symonds
Last modified on 2011-12-06 14:03:17 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Joel has been running the Blues as part of the Northloop test group and reports the following.
Lotus Elise S1
118bhp
Nitron suspension
Advan AD08 tyres
Total test mileage (road and track) on these Bluestuff pads approx 3500
Track mileage:
Nurburgring Nordschleife TF – 37 laps
Nurburgring GP TF – 2 x 20 minutes
Fitting:
The Bluestuff pads were fitted along with new grooved/dimpled discs. Fitment required the removal of some additional rubber buffer pads that were mounted in the calipers for the OEM ceramic pads that I had been using immediately prior. The pads fitted easily with no signs of sloppiness in the caliper that some pads (OEM, Carbone Lorraine) experience.
Initial bedding in:
The EBC Bluestuff pads immediately felt good with strong bite. Bite remained positive after bedding with a succession of applications from high to low speed, following the same recommended bedding procedure as for the Lotus OEM pads.
Road performance:
The pads worked well from cold with good initial bite, and no signs of squeal or other noises.
Track performance:
Immediately the brakes felt reasonably strong and confidence inspiring. The pedal was slightly softer and lacked a little feel compared to the OEM ceramic MMC pads, but not unacceptably so. Performance on the GP circuit was consistent, the retardation remaining strong and giving no reason to worry about the next braking zone.
On the Nordschleife, however, the downhill section from Kallenhard to Breidscheid caused the brakes to grumble, both audibly and through the pedal. They still slowed the car when asked, but this reduced confidence somewhat in this area. The grumbling was still present at Bergwerk, but thereafter was fine for the remainder of the lap. This pattern was repeated every lap.
Road performance after a track session seemed ok, if initially a little wooden feeling, suggesting a possible heat issue. Once fully cooled the performance was up to previous levels.
Wear and tear:
Post-trip inspection of the Bluestuff pads shows even wear, and no signs of surface cracking or other deterioration. Wear rates looked good, with plenty of thickness left. The pads produced more dust than some others I have used recently, but this seemed to wash off easily enough.
Cheers,
Joel.

Best brakes for Track-day and Race use on Impreza
Last modified on 2011-12-01 09:19:04 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

“One of the most important modifications for a circuit racer is the brakes. When out on track, more time can be gained or lost in the braking areas than anywhere else on the circuit. You need to have confidence in your brakes and be able to slam them on hard and as late as possible, to slow the car for the corner as fast as possible, before rebalancing the car for the bend. My Time Attack Impreza has K-Sport callipers and EBC Bluestuff NDX pads all round and it stops like you’ve hit a brick wall.”
Paul Doyle speaking back in August 2011 for Japanese performance magazine in the “tips from the pro’s” section about key modifications.
Paul Doyle’s Impreza uses K-Sport callipers but Bluestuff will of course perform in any quality calliper and even standard brake systems when bedded in properly click here to select the best pads for your race callipers.
The biggest advantage of EBC Bluestuff NDX is their bite from cold and progressive brake feel and the ability to bring a car to a complete stop.
EBC Brakes have made record speed inroads into the USA and German Markets in recent years after their clear dominance in their home UK market and are the favourite choice of brake materials for fast street and race car drivers all over the world.
EBC Brakes produce the largest range of brake pads in the world in a variety of compounds and are 100% British made with their ISO certificated factory located in Bristol UK and are part of the Freeman group of Companies Established in 1978 and still privately owned.

Best brakes for light trucks are EBC according to most of the media
Last modified on 2011-11-17 15:05:13 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

EBC Brakesare 100% made in the UK and the new Yellowstuff light truck pads deliver awesome stropping power and heat fade resistance.
The GD series wide aperture slotted rotors also do a great job of hauling down trucks and one recent write up on these products is shown below
STEP ON IT
By Bruce W. Smith
EBC disc-brake upgrade gives Project Super Crew improved stopping power and longer pad life.Brakes are the most important part of any vehicle.
You can do all the suspension, tire, wheel and engine upgrades to make your company pickup more efficient at whatever tasks you call upon it to perform.
But without good brakes those improvement are all for naught.
Add a trailer into the mix and your pickup’s braking performance advances to an even higher degree on necessity, especially when corporate insurance and liability are at stake.Maintenance costs are also affected. ProPickup’s reader’s 30,000-miles-a-year average is almost twice what the typical vehicle owner logs.
This means the front brake pads on the typical contractor’s pickup are replaced at least once a year (60 percent of braking is done by the front brakes) if not more often.
Multiply those annual costs by 6- to 8 times during the life of the vehicle, and the brake repairs/maintenance adds up.
Improved vehicle safety and a reduction in brake maintenance costs can be reduced over the long-term by upgrading to more efficient, higher-performance disc brake pads and rotors.
Such upgrades are all about controlling heat build-up, which, in turn, reduces brake fade and brake component wear.About Brake Fade
If you have ever done any trailer towing in steep mountains or in other situations where engine braking isn’t enough to keep the tow vehicle/trailer at a comfortable speed, you know what brake fade feels like.
That soft brake pedal slowly heading to the floor, the smell of hot brakes, and the slowly increasing vehicle speed brings chills to the body.Stock Ford F-250 front brake assembly has vented rotor.
It’s the same feel as you get trying to bring a heavily laden pickup with oversized tires to a stop in an emergency situation.
The brakes and ABS system are trying their best to comply with what your mind and foot are demanding, but the stop is slow in coming.
The reason for brake “fade” is so much friction is being generated between the rotor and pad that the heat causes the resin in the pad’s friction material to vaporize.
As vaporizing occurs, gas builds up between the face of the brake pad and the rotor.
This layer of gas acts as a cushion, and braking resistance is compromised (think tires hydroplaning on water as they lose contact with the pavement).
Brake fade on newer pickups isn’t so much about the vaporizing of the pads against the rotor, it’s boiling the brake fluid, which results in much the same result. With newer brake pad compounds, the pads transfer heat into the calipers once the rotors are too hot, and the brake fluid starts to boil forming bubbles in it,
explains Chris Longhurst, author of the Brake Bible.
Because air is compressible (brake fluid isn’t) when you step on the brakes, the air bubbles compress instead of the fluid transferring the motion to the brake calipers,
says Longhurst.
Voila! Modern brake fade.
The solution to controlling such massive amounts of heat during braking are pads made from higher quality materials, and rotors that feature some combination of holes, grooves, and dimples to help dissipate heat faster and give the vaporized gas someplace to exit.
While grooving the surface may reduce the specific heat capacity of the rotor, its effect is negligible in the grand scheme of things,
says Longhurst.
EBC Sport disc brakes and Yellowstuff pads address contrctor’s stopping needs in full-size pickups.
However, under heavy braking, once everything is hot and the resin is vaporizing, the grooves give the gas somewhere to go, so the pad can continue to contact the rotor, allowing you to stop.
EBC Disc Brake Upgrade
Our 2011 F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab 4×4 has a very good factory disc-brake setup at all four corners.
But as we added more weight to the truck in the form of accessories and equipment, and a much higher rolling mass with the taller, heavier tires and wider wheels, we thought it time to step up to a higher performance rotor/pad combination.
So we turned to EBC, a British company renown for their performance brakes world-wide.
EBC has added heavy-duty pickup applications to their popular Sport Rotors called the GD-Series.
The GD-Series rotors are dimple-drilled so they provide pad degassing without “Through Drilling,” which has been shown to promote rotor cracks.
The Sport Rotors’ special slots between the faces draw cool air under the brake pad and rotor interface and help cool the temperatures of the pad contact which can shoot up to well over 1000 degrees at the very heart of the brake pad during heavy braking.

Slots and dimples in EBC rotor face and special vents between faces all contribute to heat dispersion for better braking under heavy use.
These “full sweep” slots on the EBC Sport Brake rotor also help remove dirt dust debris and water from the braking area.
The biggest benefit is because of their design the rotors don’t warp, maintaining a flat and parallel pad surface throughout the lifetime of the brake pad set.
Adding Yellowstuff
The other upgrade we made is replacing the factory pads with EBC Yellowstuff.
EBC Yellowstuff pads are made from an aramid fiber compound with a very high heat range, and they work well when the brakes are cold and very well when hot.
The EBC Yellowstuff gives you as much bite as you can get from a stock system and in most cases will give a noticeable brake improvement while towing or hauling heavy loads,
says James Hallett, Vice Presidentof EBC Brakes USA Inc.
The GD7319 #GD-Series rotors with Yellowstuff pads are the best combination for pickup owners who do a lot of towing and off-pavement driving,
Hallett says.
If you are a construction worker or contractor who drives a heavy-duty pickup, those conditions should sound quite familiar.
Our Test Results
When we did the first track tests with our F-250 Crew Cab diesel, the 60mph-0 distance on Holiday Raceway’s 1/8th mile asphalt strip was 151 feet, with the subsequent back-to-back braking distance stretching to 168 feet.
With the truck sitting atop 35-inch Mickey Thompson MTZ mud tires, four-inch suspension lift, toolboxes, refuel tank and a number of other upgrades, the base stopping distance extended out to 196 feet.
Ford F-250 front disc brake assmebly fitted with EBC Sport rotors and Yellowstuff pads.
The second pass, made without letting the brakes cool down except for the drive back to the starting line, ended at 210 and a lot of soft pedal underfoot.
With the EBC pads and rotors, the first pass came in at 171 feet and the hot pass 177.
Brake pedal feel on the second pass was very similar to the first braking run.
Our inital stock-verses-aftermarket comparison shows the EBC Sport rotors and Yellowstuff pads definitely improved our big Ford’s stopping power both cold and hot.
We have also seen slightly firmer brake pedal and noticeably improved around-town braking performance during both wet and dry conditions.
The truck also tends to stop with a more level attitude than it did with the stock brakes
Here’s how Truck Supply & Outfitter’s Daniel Parker went about upgrading the front and rear brakes on our 2011 Ford F-250 Crew Cab 4×4 diesel, Project Super Crew….

Brakes Discs for Motorcycles from EBC Brakes work great for fast street and even Race use according to Maria Costello MBE
Last modified on 2011-11-16 11:58:08 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Maria is proud to announce that the EBC Brakes sponsored Supertwin Kawasaki ER650 she built & raced this season will be on show at the forthcoming Motorcycle Live show at the Birmingham NEC.
The hand built bike includes EBC ProLite XC contour rotors are the toughest and yet the lightest sport and race brake rotors you can put on your bikes for many reasons and here is why these are best.

1. Contoured profile reduces weight by 7.5% without reducing actual “cooling mass” of disc.
2. New German mill rolled heat treated stainless steel rotor blade.
3. Vertical scraper slot system removes dirt, dust and debris quickly from braking area.
4. Unique fully overlapping vent hole pattern reduces weight, cleans disc blade and helps deglaze pads.
5. New Patented Stainless Steel SD (square drive) button drive system, prevent warping and vibration totally system – click here for full tech info.
6. Ultra lightweight ductile alloy centre hub.
7. Use of SD system allows less drive buttons, in the case of EBC we are down to six buttons
8. Full stainless components, no rusty parts and that’s guaranteed.
The bike that Maria will race at the Isle of Man TT in 2012 will be on display on the NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd stand from 19th – 27th November 2011, Hall 2, stand B110.

Best brakes for Impreza are EBC once again according to Northloop driver Floyd Merrison
Last modified on 2011-11-16 10:58:30 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
I was lucky enough to be part of the EBC trial for the Bluestuff /Orangestuff pads. I wasn’t too bothered which to try as I’d been very happy with EBC Yellowstuff for quite some time and I therefore had a reasonable confidence in EBC products.
I had tried the Redstuff, which were considered a fast road pad. They worked well but didn’t quite perform well on track. Perhaps this was my driving. They stopped well enough but felt strained when I was really on it. I then moved to Yellowstuff and they did exactly what I needed them to do and are brilliant for the price. No fade, no horrid noises, good feel and no judder. the only downside was perhaps that they didn’t last very long before needing replacement. But you can’t have everything at this price!
A box of Bluestuff arrived in the post and I fitted them front and rear. I bled the brakes with fresh fluid to make sure I gave them a fair test. The bedding in procedure consisted of driving the car to Spa and that was it. I had no time to do anything else really.
I hadn’t driven Spa before so I had to rely on the brakes quite heavily as I got up to speed with the track knowledge. The pads felt good from cold. Better than the Yellowstuff if I’m honest. Once warm the bite was there and heavy braking was straight and true. No noises, odd behaviour, just good braking. Nice.
I took a well known instructor out for a few laps before letting him drive the car. No complaints and quite complimentary.
The pads look like they have 80% left on the fronts and 95% on the rear. That’s pretty good. The yellows wouldn’t have faired as well. AP4 pots and Subaru 2 pots f/r if you’re wondering.
So, am I happy and would I buy again? Yes and yes!

Skegness Beach Race won by EBC Brakes Rider Nathan Parker
Last modified on 2011-11-16 08:48:34 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
With the race taking place on the beach this was perfect for Parker racing with MX-S sintered pads and DRCF clutch kit from EBC Brakes, as MX-S pads have excellent durability in sand and the DRCF kits are 15% tougher than stock clutch kits.
The race got underway at 12 noon and Parker and Jordan Rose hit the front early, but
halfway round the first lap they had a coming together and both hit the deck, handing the lead to young sand specialist Nathan Watson.
Another crash later on the first lap saw Parker drop back to 6th but he soon settled into a comfortable rhythm and moved back through to third place by the end of the second lap and by lap 11 was up to second behind the flying Watson, however Watson ran out of fuel and had to push his bike back to the pits for a quick fill up. Luckily for him he had only just past the entrance to the pits so didn’t lose too much time. Parker was now in the lead and as everyone around him suffered from either running out of fuel or crashes, Parker just kept on going for lap after lap, building up a substantial lead.
After stopping to re-fuel on lap 21 he was still in the lead and was beginning to show his strength and fitness, setting the fastest lap of the race two laps later, one and a half hours into the race. He continued to increase his lead and was a clear two laps in front of second place by the time they went through the two hour mark. He was brought in for a precautionary top up of fuel as the race entered the last 30 minutes and after rejoining the race he was able to cruise home for a well deserved win, ahead of Watson, Moffat and Bradshaw.
A happy Parker commented “the conditions were really tough and I can’t say I enjoyed the experience, but I definitely enjoyed the win. I was knackered by the end. I think I’ll have to practice a bit more next time”

Formula Ford 2000 Brakes from EBC work great and according to Race winner James Nash the Greenstuff is the way to go
Last modified on 2011-11-16 12:10:07 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
The EBC Greenstuff brake pads were up to temperature right from the start and that allowed me to out-brake my oponent as early as lap two and pull out a lead to win the race
says James Nash after smashing the lap record by out braking his rivals at the Walter Hayes Trophy. Silverstone was once again host to the Walter Hayes Trophy in November and Scott Temple didnt hesitate at the opertunity of putting old schoold friend and British Touring Car Independant Champion from 2011- James Nash into his Van Diemen RF82 for the Formula Ford 2000 race. After just a small amount of running in the car on the Friday practise day Nash was imediatly quick in the car and qualified it second on the grid for the race on the Sunday.

EBC Greenstuff has a high initial brake effect and gives drivers confidence from first application of the brake pedal, Nash proved this with an excellent start taking the lead by out braking his rival on lap two and pulled away to win by 5 seconds over the next car and smash the lap record in the process.
I really enjoyed the opertunity to drive a single seater again and the car was superb. The EBC Greenstuff brake pads were up to temperature right from the start and that allowed me to out-brake my oponent as early as lap two and pull out a lead to win the race
Nash’s win sealed a back to back victory for Scott Temple’s EBC Brakes Van Diemen RF82 and firmly establishing it as the car to beat in 2012.

EBC Brakes Wins Racer-X Reader’s Choice Award For Its Motocross Brakes
Last modified on 2011-11-11 14:51:54 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
With a 56% share of the aftermarket, EBC Brakes out-voted all other aftermarket brake suppliers combined in the recent survey of 2000 Racer-X motocross enthusiasts, expanding its market share in the survey by 20%+ compared to previous surveys.
“EBC Brakes won this reader’s choice award by a country mile” stated Scott Wallenberg, Racer-X publisher, and continues its dominance of the motocross market for brake pads and rotors, especially in the USA.
EBC Brakes produces the largest range of motorcycle brakes in the world from three manufacturing locations in Bristol, UK, Northampton, UK and Ohio, USA and make the popular ranges of motocross brakes and clutches such as the MX-S sintered pads plus the OS series oversize brake rotor kits and the new super tough DRCF clutch kits.
EBC Brakes stocks and distributes its products in the USA from a huge new Los Angeles facility and distributes its products to 28 of the world’s largest distributors in the USA and Canada. EBC Brakes also has world dominance with distributors in almost every westernised market with an estimated world market share of 60-70% of the free aftermarket.
Recent other interesting events at EBC Brakes were the doubling of the Ohio sintered metal manufacturing plant with the addition of six further vacuum furnaces and a second continuous sintering furnace for volume production, making EBC Brakes the largest producer of sintered metal brakes in North America.
The EBC organic pad manufacturing plant in Bristol, UK recently launched its new range of V-pads for street cruisers or Big Twins in the USA and this product will go on sale in Europe, Spring 2012.
The EBC Brake rotor range is now also produced using a new German mill rolled special stainless steel material which is heat treated to a unique EBC specification to provide a combination of toughness and ductility and is another world leading motocross brake commodity.

Formula Ford 2000 brakes by EBC deliver best stopping power which is important of course and the Greenstuff pad prove effective in working straight away from cold and staying consistant throughout races and for the duration of the braking areas” Says Scott Temple after claiming end of season victory in the BARC Classic Formula Ford 2000 Championship
Last modified on 2011-11-11 13:36:11 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Scott Temple has finished 2011 on a high after winning the final round of the BARC Classic Formula Ford 2000 Championship. Temple who has run in various different Formula Ford 2000 cars over the last six years has always opted to run EBC Greenstuff Brake pads as his preferred choice, EBC Greenstuff has a high initial brake effect and gives drivers confidence from first application of the brake pedal. This successful partnership has seen Temple fight at the front end of the championship every year.
In 2011 Temple entered the Classic Formula Ford 2000 Championship in a newly recruited Van Diemen RF82. Unfortunately the first half of the year proved to be a developing period for which only 3 races were competed in with mechanical issues and all the mid season races being missed while the car was developed further. On his return to the grid in August the car was now much more competitive and Temple claimed third at Oulton Park, second at Cadwell Park and went on to win and defeat 3 times champion Ian Pearson at the last race at Mallory Park.
It was a testing start to the year but we did the right thing in missing half of the races to work on getting the car to a competitive level for the end of the year
claims Temple.
We were back where we should be for the last races and in the final race at Mallory I was the man to beat and I hope to continue that success into 2012. I would like to thank EBC Brakes for their continued to support, stopping power is very important of course and the Greenstuff pad proves effective in working straight away from cold and staying consistent throughout races and for the duration of the braking areas

Review on EBC Bluestuff Brake pads
Last modified on 2011-10-27 16:00:59 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Bluestuff NDX is a high friction sport and race material that can be used for aggressive street driving and certain types of track use. The material has achieved great success on the track, with quality aftermarket calipers (multi-piston systems, with better release and cooling, as well as larger rotors) and slightly less success with street-based calipers, in which pad size and caliper drag can challenge any brake material.
The biggest advantage of EBC Bluestuff NDX is its bite from cold, allied to progressive brake feel and the ability to bring the car to a complete stop. This has led to ECE R90 brake safety regulation approval and certificates are being obtained. There are certain older street-based caliper systems, with which even the new Bluestuff will have difficulty handling the caliper and slider drag inherent in the systems, but this scenario is exactly the same for other friction material manufacturers. There is NO material that will be PERFECT on the track in all older street-based caliper systems.
Bluestuff NDX comes ‘heat scorched’, which means that bed-in time is minimal. After fitment, NDX is capable of four to five races, of up-to 30 laps duration in most cases, but the pads should still be inspected every 30 laps and discarded, when the friction material measures less than one eighth of an inch or 3mm, in order to avoid fade. In street-use, its expected life is considerable and up to 20,000 miles and upwards can be expected, even under harsh driving conditions.
Using Bluestuff NDX as a street-only pad is totally acceptable but please note that, in Europe, ECE R90 brake safety regulations will require the pads to have R 90 certification which is not available for all cars. For a list of models that possess R 90 approval, you should check with EBC’s technical team via technical@ebcbrakesuk.com. Many cars are now completely approved. EBC confirms that these pads provide an excellent brake material for all kinds of street driving, being sharp on the pedal, while lasting well and displaying no hint of brake fade.

Review of EBC Yellowstuff for heavy-duty pickup, “feel braking difference when it comes to fade towing trailers and running twisty roads and mountain passes” says Pro Pick Up Magazine
Last modified on 2011-10-27 15:09:56 GMT. 1 comment. Top.
Baby’s got new brakes.
EBC Brakes sent us their brand new offering for the heavy duty pickup market; slotted sport rotors and Yellow Stuff brake pads. Easy upgrade for anyone shop savvy with brake repairs.
Stopping power noticeably better than OEM.
Will probably be feel braking difference when it comes to fade towing trailers and running twisty roads and mountain passes.I tend to think the slotted/drilled rotors will also provide better wet braking and over those muddy roads.
They say the EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads are far better than OEM as well…so we have both working together to bring the Super Crew to a halt in a hurry if needed.
We are driving the truck from Tuscaloosa to Las Vegas later this week to be in the SEMA Show.
The brakes will get a test on that drive

How to stop an SUV 44 feet faster using EBC Yellowstuff pads and EBC GD sport rotors
Last modified on 2011-10-19 10:30:52 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Before we installed the EBC pads and rotors, our Navigator averaged 129 feet 6 inches to decelerate from 50-0 mph. After the install, that distance decreased to an average of 85 feet 5 inches. This is an impressive improvement of 44 feet 11 inches or 52 percent. We were utterly stunned at how well the new EBC pads and rotors stopped our big Nav. Even if you factor out that the old rotors were shot, 85 feet 5 inches is a very respectable 50-0 stopping distance for a vehicle this heavy. And even at the end of three hard declaration with only a two-minute cool-down between each, the EBC pads and rotors showed no signs of fade. Day-to-day driving with the new EBC brakes has been awesome and their performance is superior. EBC offers braes for nearly all 4X4s and not only would we recommend them for replacement of worn out brakes, we’d highly recommend them for rigs equipped with larger-than-stock tires and/or heavy aftermarket bolt-ons. Quite simply, they work great.

EBC Bluestuff Brakes SUPERB on Lotus Elan at Spa according to driver Martin Houston
Last modified on 2011-10-14 08:12:33 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Just been to trackday at Spa in Belgium on the 4th Oct 2011 with a load of Northloop buddies through Circuit Days. I hired a trailer from Southern Trailers in Alton and booked a DFDS return ferry – going out on the Monday and coming back on the Wednesday morning. I had dropped an email to Neil and Ann AEAVentures for a twin room.
My sister, Paula, who is 90% blind after a terrible domestic accident said she wanted to come along to experience a road trip again with her “big” brother. The last one we did together was the Le Mons 2004 trip in the BRG Excel SE.
In addition through Northloop I had been given a set of Bluestuff EBC pads for the Elan to test out on the road and trackdays. When I received them I went down to the garage I use in Newbury, Sterling, and borrowed one of their ramps to change the pads over. I had a bit of difficulty getting the bolts on the rear calipers to come loose! The pads that were in there had only been fitted about 11 months before?
I had to enlist Sterling’s help to get them loosened – involving a huge breaker bar and a lot of strength…………………..
I then bedded the pads in over a few days on the road – gradually building up to full braking as advised by EBC.
The pads are really good for the road as initial bite comes in early and does not require a lot of heat to be effective – so the blues are ideal for road use.
The night before I was to set off on the trip to Spa – Neil sent me an email saying there had been a big mix up with the booking and 7 people turned up instead of 5. So no room at the Inn for Martin and Paula, but he would organise something else locally and not to worry…………….
So on the Monday morning I went early and got the trailer and loaded the Elan and we set off for Dover. Well – a combination of traffic, roadworks, accidents etc meant we missed our ferry. doh!
The next morning we headed off to the track with a little trepidation as the previous day the fog had not lifted until 12 and then the Marshalls had lunch until 1300. The morning was glorious with blue skies and sunshine. So no issues there
Found Spa with no issues and unloaded the Elan and went to sign on and attend the briefing. It was Daren’s 40th so we all sang Happy birthday to him before he started the briefing.
Roof down, helmets on and all strapped in, we set off for the sighting laps. Arghhh, some people had got it all wrong and were overtaking the tailenders on the sighting laps only to find a “snake” of relatively slow moving traffic…………………….fortunately no major issues – just some red faces
Did a dozen or so laps in the morning and then a fine drizzel started, not good, track very greasy and slippy – no likey
Fortunately it was 12 and time to stop for lunch – let’s hope the rain drys up over lunch.
The EBC Bluestuff pads were superb – Spa is a very demanding circuit and speeds are high and the brakes and pads take some high speed punishment. The blues did not protest or fade once in the morning – they were just excellent – filling you with confidence to brake later and later. Thus, increasing the enjoyment of the day with every lap.
I have upgraded the Elan’s front brakes to Wilwood 4 pots with 320mm disks and it is a good system. I had been pleased with the previous Wilwood pads apart from the excessive dust created under braking.
The Blues are a step up from the Wilwoods and do not create as much dust – let us see what the afternoon will bring.
After lunch we went out with the wet weather tyres and wheels on, but it quickly became apparent that a very dry line was forming……….yippee
Rushed back into the pits and put the track tyres and wheels back on and zoomed back out onto the circuit.
The tyres heated up really quickly and the pace picked up really quickly – I had also got to know the circuit better and understood my lines and turn in points. I was really enjoying this so after about 7 laps I went back into the pits to see if my sister wanted to come out for a few “hot” laps – she did so off out we went again.
A picture tells a thousand words – I had the smile surgically removed the next day…………..
You can just see the EBC Pads sticker on the front bumper.
Here is the car going up Eau Rouge at speed – you can see the EBC sticker clearly in this one.
I did another 10 laps and then Paula wanted a rest so we came back into the pits.
However, I was buzzing and was soon back out on track enjoying myself. The pads did not fade once and just kept braking consistently all day – from the start to the finish. I only came in as it was near the end of the day and I was running on fumes
Here is a link to a friends Vimeo page where you can see the elan in action at Spa being followed by a classic Lotus – A Sunbeam!
http://vimeo.com/30137572
EBC Brakes – the pads are fantastic and there is loads of meat still left in the pads. I will definitely buy another set of these and will be recommending them on the Lotus Elan Central website -where I will post a link to my blog which contains this report.

Buy Brakes for your car or motorcycle with confidence and get genuine EBC parts made in the UK or USA to the highest quality standards
Last modified on 2011-10-13 15:13:13 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Brakes are not an area to look for cheap products. If you are in the market to buy brakes for your vehicle there is plenty of choice but price should not be the driving factor. Things to consider are
1) Are the brakes you are looking at a good quality
2) Are you about to buy brakes that are suited to your car or motorcycle
3) Are you about to buy brakes that are ECE R 90 approved or TUV tested for motorcycles
4) Where were the brakes you are about to buy made and is that a reliable producers product
There are many questions the consumer needs to get answers for before you buy brakes and these are just some of them.
EBC Brakes is one such quality producer and produces 100% of its automotive brakes in the UK in ISO 9000 and BS 5750 approved facilities and have an excellent warranty and service record. EBC also make the largest range of brakes in the world so if you are looking to buy brakes you will not find your choice made much easier than that.
When you buy brakes you also need to decide who and how these will be fitted. EBC Brakes can provide DVD instructions on how to install brakes and all the necessary peripherals such as brake fluid, brake discs and all types of pads that can be selected from this brake selector chart , brake caliper lube, brake fluid testers and brake fluid one man bleeding kits to make the job easy for you at home.
Its not just where you buy brakes it’s a question of what quality of brakes you get for your money and these days, price does not always command quality and neither does a famous brand names. Many well established large and famous companies insert low cost aftermarket parts into their boxes and some have no idea what product is even going into the boxes.
AT EBC we make everything we sell, we research and design our own materials, we have them tested in the UK by the VCA for fitness for purposes and we guarantee them so when you come to buy brakes ask for a brand you can trust.

Best brakes for the Ring or any race track are EBC according to Northloop driver Gary Kinghorn
Last modified on 2011-10-13 08:26:24 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
I run a track prepared E30 325i which has recently been repaired after quite a large crash at Castle Combe. When the rebuild was near completion I needed to furnish the car with new brakes. Having previously run EBC yellowstuff on EBC discs I was more than happy when EBC kindly asked me to test both the EBC Blue and new EBC orange pads.
The ideal opportunity came through a track day at Spa shortly after the car rebuild was complete. However the rebuild went right to the wire with the car having only covered 5 miles prior to it going on the trailer ready for Spa. Conscious that the newly fitted Blue pads hadn’t been properly bedded in I ran the car for 30 mins on circuit the night before the main event the next day. During this period I took it steady on the car getting some heat cycles through the brakes and give them a chance to bed in as well as I could.
The following day the brakes gave me confidence as had the Yellowstuff variants I ran previously. I use std calipers, with braided lines, upgraded fluid and a bias valve. The car weighs 1,000kgs and I had not experienced brake fade in the past and was keen for this to continue. I need not have worried because the new Blue pads not only gave great confidence that the pedal would always be there, but I consider they gave greater brake performance over the yellowstuff meaning I could hold on for an extra second before jumping on the middle pedal. This continued through the course of the day. Another surprising fact was how well these pads performed from cold. I was very impressed.
A good brake set up for me consists of one which stops/slows the wheels as quickly as possible, without causing locked wheels, doing this consistently for a number of events, while preventing excessive wear to brake discs and without substantial, aggressive, paint eating brake dust. I’m pleased to say the EBC Blue pads achieved all of this, very much to my satisfaction.
Back home the brakes were checked for wear and after 200 track miles I was very happy to hear they had only worn by approx 25%.
The next time I use the car on track I will again use the Blue pads. This will be on a tighter, shorter UK circuit and I’m looking forward to seeing how they hold up during this different test.
And when the Bluestuff finally expire I’m forward to seeing how the Orangestuff fair. A hard act to follow I think.

What are the best Clio brakes ???? The answer is EBC bluestuff on the fronts EBC yellows on the rear
Last modified on 2011-10-10 08:28:05 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Hi,
just dropping you a quick message to let you know how I’m getting on with the Bluestuff (and Yellowstuff rear) pads you sent me. They’ve been on the car now for about 3-4 weeks, and straight from the box the set up was very impressive!
First press of the brakes and it was clear they had a strong ‘bite’ and I wasn’t sure if this was just because they were brand new and would maybe dull down a bit once bedded in. Well I’m pleased to say that they’ve lost non of that initial bite, which you get even from stone cold, and they have really impressed me for day to day driving. They bite strong but not so aggressively that they feel they may lock, you have a good ‘feel’ for what they’re doing, and thats saying quite a lot on a Clio Cup which has no ABS and has a brake bias which is massively front orientated!
I completed my first track day with them fitted yesterday and they were incredible!! Repeatedly hauling the car down from 100mph into a long 180 right, lap after lap I was inspired to absolutely stand on the brake pedal and never had any problems with brakes locking or fading. The ‘feel’ remained solid and gave good feed back, and on the occasional laps when I missed my braking point there was always a little bit more there when needed to bring the car back to a safe cornering speed.
I completed 6 half hour sessions, on a fairly short circuit at Teesside Autodrome so the brakes got a good work out with no particular long straight to cool them down, and they were faultless. Pad wear was also minimal, and the discs looked pretty good afterwards too, so I’m very pleased and would imagine this set up would last all year round no problem at all!
Here’s a link to my build thread on cliosport.net -
http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?595605-My-1st-Clio-172-Cup-hopefully-track-day-car
I’ve attached a couple of pictures of the car with its stickers fitted (I’m trying to get hold of some high res ones of it on track at the minute), and some shots of the brakes after their day of abuse!
I’m going to whip the pads out next week and just check them over for any problems, but I’m not expecting to find any.
Once again many thanks for letting me test these pads, and if you come up with any more compounds you think may be suitable and want them tested and advertised a bit – I’m your man!!
Thanks,
Chris

New EBC Orangestuff race brake pads pass gruelling dyno testing and pass with flying colours.
Last modified on 2011-10-07 13:59:13 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
The pictures below show the condition of both the Orangestuff pads and discs after a massively tough test to their wear limits at temperatures exceeding 1000C ( 1800 F)
The pads got so hot the paint was blistered off the backing plates totally yet the Orangestuff pads still worked well. There was no cracking or edge crumbling and at the end of the test the discs look in remarkably good condition.
During the test the discs glowed Orange under the decel forces of 1.0G and the friction (obviously) was reduced but there was still a decent brake effect.
The cooling delays were reduced to further worsen the test case scenario.
There is no car on this planet that would put brakes though a more severe test!
EBC Brakes produce the worlds largest range of brakes for performance cars and motorcycles and produce all their brake pads in Bristol UK.
Other greatly successful EBC race and fast street products include EBC Bluestuff and the soon-to-be-launched HIGH CARBON Brake discs in the new EBC Blade Disc pattern.
EBC Brake discs are also 100% British made and are the ONLY British made brake discs on the world markets today.
EBC Motorcycle Brakes have been world leaders for over 30 years and are highly popular amongst bikers all over the world

EBC Orangestuff race brakes reduce lap times on MR2 for Race Driver Lloyd Clarkson
Last modified on 2011-09-28 14:54:23 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

After using EBC Yellowstuff for numerous races , driver Lloyd Clarkson decided to try the new EBC Orangestuff grade race pads to make a direct comparison.
The result was that
1) Lloyds lap times came DOWN by as much as EIGHT SECONDS in the dry PLUS
2) Disc temperatures went DOWN.
3) Brakes were more Porgressive
The tests were completed at Pembrey Race Circuit in South Wales over the Sept 24th weekend and also due to the rain gave us a chance to prove the Orangestuff pads in the wet.
Needless to say these are outstanding results on what is classed as a lighter car and provides proof that the new EBC Orangestuff not only stop heavier beasts such as the Nissan GTR on the track but is equally effective on lighter vehicles.
EBC Orangestuff is the latest in a range of new performance brake pad compounds made by British brake manufacturers EBC Brakes who produce the largest range of brake pads in the world in their Bristol UK facility. Orangestuff is due for general release as a Race Only material before the end of 2011.
Here is Lloyds full story on the Race and brake tests
We had a great weekend, minimal damage and all manors of weather conditions over the 3 days – it was very interesting! So I have attached a spreadsheet showing the conditions on the day, temps where applicable and lap times. A basic summary from my point is that the lap times did improve dramatically as soon as I swapped pads from Yellow to Orange. There is a little bit of track improvement to bare in mind, as it was my first time at Pembrey, but by session 2 (still on yellows) I was happy I was pushing hard. So on average I saw a -1second improvement when switching to Oranges. I think this was due to be able to push harder around the 2 hairpins, both of which were heavy on the brakes from high speed entrances, and trail braking seemed to be the quickest way to sling the car round.
Unfortunately we couldn’t collect temperature data after every run, as on most of the races we were held in parc ferme for so long that the temps dropped right down. Oh and one race I may have ended up having a brief conversation with the Clerk of the Course straight after. Apparently he wasn’t too happy with me spinning and dragging half the adjacent field back onto the racing line
We did collect some data on the qualy and test sessions.
The main noticeable difference for me was increased progressive feel and the lack of lock-up. My car doesn’t run any abs, and when braking for hard hairpins before (Mallory) locking up was an issue. With the Orange pads, I found the pedal feel was far more progressive without fear of the wheels locking. It was more noticeable when it rained, as I was using trail braking to shift weight onto the front to stop understeer, and I felt more control with the Orange pads giving a light drag to shift weight.
The pad temps did drop slightly when shifting to Orange, but the sessions were fewer laps, so not an identical comparison, but even when doing a short session before, I found pads were up to operating temps within 3-5 laps (maybe I brake too much lol)
In general I really liked the way the pads felt, I thought they were more progressive but still performed well when stomped on (usually due to an MR2 suddenly facing me on the hairpin!) . Wear-wise I haven’t had a chance to pull them back out yet, but from a first visual inspection they seemed to hold up well considering we had 3 days of heavy use.
I hope that is enough feedback for now? I have the final round at Cadwell Park in 2 weeks, and I will keep you informed on how they perform.
We also have the Birkett endurance race coming up soon, and I will run them there also.
Kind regards
Lloyd

Best Brake pads for EVO race use are EBC Orangestuff according to multi brand testing on MLR
Last modified on 2011-09-28 07:35:38 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
After the great success of the EBC Bluestuff NDX EBC tech people identified certain shortfalls on FULL RACE use of the Blues that required it to go back to the drawing board to address issues of this very tough and demanding RACE ONLY brake segment.
Most drivers LOVED the new NDX Bluestuff as it was a street friendly and (soon to be) street legal to R 90 specification with a great price point ,however heavier and faster cars such as the EVO, newer Impreza and certainly the GTR showed a requirement for a dedicated FULL RACE pad and R and D chief Steve Payne came up with the new EBC Orangestuff range to fit the bill.
Boy was this ever a home run.!!!!!
First material in a brief two months work on the new material and Steve Blended a TOTALLY new material as EBC Orangestuff , using ingredients never used in EBC brake pads before and IT WORKS.
EBC Orangestuff has now been released for extensive track testing with up to 50 race drivers and the results are coming in fast, here are the comments of one of the first Mitsubishi EVO drivers.
Written by GUM EVO.
During run in period I noticed cold bite was superb and there was no noises much to my surprise
Anyway Saturday morning came and the sprint at Snetterton began… anyone who attended would vouch the braking needed at the finish line was a test for any ones brake setup! I was crossing the line at about 120 on the limiter in 4th gear then stamping on the brakes to stop in what was a very short distance to exit the circuit. The EBC Orangestuff pads offered me astonishing cold bite and immense stopping power whilst never fading ….
Overall the pads have been used for one sprint and two days of running in… so far proving to be one of the best pads I have ever used along side the xp10’s……The main advantage for me so far is these EBC Orangestuff pads should be priced very closely or the same as EBC NDX blues which makes them the bargain of the century.
Please regardless of how easy it is to accuse, believe me when I say this is a total independent test from an enthusiast and unbiased in anyway. I have used many brake pads in my time ranging from: XP8, XP10, NDX blue, EBC Orangestuff, Endless, PF.11, DS2500 etc etc and have just given an honest opinion and will continue to do so throughout the life span of these pads. I have no raw data or substantial evidence to prove these pads to be better than any other as I have no test equipment but take the review as you please J
Just to add I came 1st place in my class at Snetterton during the MLRSS and have secured the class A 2011 win.
Thanks Steve for these honest and unbiased comments and we hope to hear back from you again soon.

EBC Orangestuff Brake pads get thumbs up from Nissan GTR drivers
Last modified on 2011-09-28 07:34:55 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
The new EBC Orangestuff brake pads are the follow on from the successful EBC Bluestuff NDX range which 95% of drivers have loved, there HAVE BEEN however a few cases where the (soon to be) R 90 street legal Bluestuff pads were pushed past their limits and the EBC R and D director guru Steve Payne set about his new task of designing a RACE ONLY pad to complement the EBC range.
After two months Steve came up with four possible solutions and choosing the best for its purpose EBC launched its testing phase with 48 drivers of the fastest cars they could find to prove the new EBC Orangestuff. These included, Impreza, EVO,Nissan GTR and many other models of track driving, 11 drivers of which are right now testing with as members of the Northloop group at the Nurburgring.
So far the results look promising. Not one complaint so far but its early days so we will be updating you.
These comments came from one Nissan GTR driver
STEVIE 76 writes on GTROC Forum
I have to say i was really impressed with the EBC OrangeStuff which easily managed to slow the car up from an indicated 200mph on the clock with no fade noticed at all. I am quite happy to say that these pads really do seem to work very well and have a good enough bite, after a couple of pedal applications, to inspire confidence in them. The initial bite is no worse than stock pads but you really do notice the difference when they get hot.

Time to replace brake pads and rotors? Project3 uses brakes brake pads and rotors from EBC brakes
Last modified on 2011-09-23 13:43:31 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Project3 Brake Review
Having a fast car means nothing if you don’t have the proper equipment to stop it. Just like with suspension, tires, and wheels, brakes are a crucial part to any race, project, or even a show car. While our Project3 Mazda sedan isn’t setting any records or boasting the highest horsepower, having the proper set of stoppers puts more confidence in our ability to drive and handle the car.
Two specialists in the industry supplied Project3 with the necessary supplies and parts to complete this task: EBC Brakes USA and CorkSport Performance. EBC Brakes USA supplied a full front and rear set of their amazing Zinc Coated, Slotted and Dimpled 3GD rotors and Red Stuff pads. EBC offers a variety of racing pads ranging from Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, and Green. The color of the pad is their way of telling the consumer what type of pad they should get, for not only the amount of power the car produces but also the type of driving they will be using it for. Since the Project3 won’t see too much track time and is mostly for daily driving use, we opted for the street version, Red Stuff, which also creates less brake dust than its counterparts.
Upgrading the rotors and pads is always good, but if you’re going to get in there and remove most of the parts, you should seriously invest into some stainless steel brake lines. CorkSport Performance builds their lines on MVSS-1006 specifications and is DOT approved; their design helps eliminate that “mushy” pedal and gives you upgraded response when you need it.
To top it off, Motul 5.1 brake fluid was used to increase sensitivity and performance with braking. Provided by Intec Racing, changing out the fluid on a major brake job like this should be mandatory.
The install: Provided by Kevin Kempf of SpeedFactory Racing and Tuning
Installation time: 90 Minutes
Ease of Installation: Medium**
**Changing of the brake rotors and pads is fairly simple, but changing the lines and flushing/bleeding the brake fluid should only be done with the right equipment. Failure to do this right can cause air bubbles in your brake system.
Final review:
After the initial break-in period is done of roughly 100 miles, we gave the brakes several tests. Overall, response is greatly improved throughout the entire system with an added feel through the brake pedal. While we don’t have official start and stopping times, immediate braking under standard driving was instant, coming to a complete stop in mere seconds with no loss of traction or issues with ABS.Driving hard at highway speeds and having to slow down fast to maintain with traffic was no issue and felt really smooth and very quick. While the Red Stuff pads might not offer the most aggressive grip, it sure gets the job done well for street driving.
We can only imagine that when we decide to autocross the project car, having proper brakes alone will help us shave crucial time off our runs while looking good when we do it.

Your motorcycle clutch should be tough and according Brad Baker, the best clutch motorcycle riders can buy is the new EBC DRC F kit
Last modified on 2011-09-23 13:50:11 GMT. 1 comment. Top.
Here’s our insight on the new DRC F clutch!
Ever since the first GNC race in Daytona Beach Florida we have been running the DRC F clutch in all of our Honda 450 race bikes.
The first benefit we noticed was a lot better feel over stock honda clutches, espically on the newer models.
The DRC F lets me slip the clutch out with ease allowing me to get ever bit of traction to the ground on the starting line. Which in flat track is one of the most important aspects of a race.
The second benefit we noticed was an actuall Horse power curve change on the dyno. Most all dyno runs we have done in the past we have noticed dips in our power curves do to clutch slipage.
Since running the DRC F clutch we have more linear power curves and havent experieced any sudden clutch slippage at low end power.
If the DRC F clutch withstands the punishment on the dyno we know it delivers us utimate horse power on the race track!
The third and final benefit we have indured with the DRC F clutch is durabilty.
After a full race season we pulled the cluches out of two of our race bikes. What we experienced was basically like looking at a brand new clutch!
There was barely any heat wear and the stack height wasnt affected at all.
Season heighlights
3rd place round 2 in Daytona Beach Florida
3rd place round 4 in Salinas California
3rd place round 13 in Castle Rock Washington
5th place in Grand National Singles Championship
2011 AMA Rookie of the Year
All in all the DRC F is a great clutch and we appreciate you letting us use it!

Using shimmed, chamfered and slotted technology and incorporating EBC’s unique BRAKE-IN coating for super quick pad bed-in, (in Europe only certain numbers are shimmed, in USA ALL Ultimax range are shimmed).
EBC black coded brake pads are a high friction premium quality friction material approved to ECE R90 brake safety regulations and as such are an exact equivalent to original equipment pads fitted to your vehicle from the factory – but for far less money.
Don’t let the lower price point cloud your view of this superb quality product, these pads will stop your vehicle as fast as any original equipment pad and faster than most aftermarket pads. One brilliant feature of EBC R90 pads is their ability to completely eliminate brake judder and these pads will actually COMPENSATE for mild brake judder after 300-400 miles of use. Nominal friction co-efficient 0.46 with minimal rotor damage and similar dust to original parts.
Reduced Rotor Wear
Disc wear is reduced by up to 50% with the EBC material compared to more abrasive semi metallics. It is common to replace the rotor with every pad change on some OE parts but with EBC it is quite common to see one rotor last TWO sets of pad lifetimes, offering significant savings. This does NOT mean that the EBC pads wear quickly either.

EBC Bluestuff NDX pads are amazing on my Porsche 911 says race driver …
Last modified on 2011-09-01 09:04:15 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Jim Graven who is a long time Industry professional races his Porsche 911 at weekends away from his job working as a product Manager Transworld Products Inc and certainly knows what he is talking about with Brakes and cars.

Jim installed the new EBC Bluestuff NDX on his Porsche 911 and wrote these words to express his finding on the Bluestuff pads
“I have done one track event on the blues (Barber in Birmingham, AL) and they are terrific! I went with new rotors at the same time. I’m going to Hastings in Nebraska in 2 weeks, and I am very happy with the performance of the Blue Stuff pads. About the same dust as the yellows, so no worries there. I was able to over brake my tires and the ABS system a couple of times (got the fronts to briefly lock-up before the ABS took over), the grip from these pads is simply amazing!”
EBC Bluestuff continues its dominance of the Trackday and certain classes of Race use. The EBC pad lineup for Race use consists of four materials
1) Greenstuff – for smaller and lighter cars in hillclimb and certain rally uses
2) Yellowstuff – a more grippy compound used widely In Mazda MX5 Miata Racing and Formula Fords
3) Bluestuff NDX – for general Trackday and race use on medium weight cars
4) NEW – full race material, a harder grade needing more bedding in but having a far higher heat threshold but solution provider for top speed cars such as the Nissan GTR.

Numerous series Champions use EBC brakes including series winner Rob Boston and over 90% of the drivers in the UK Mazda series races and Race winning Time Attack Driver Paul Doyle in his Impreza.

OUR OPINION FR
Bluestuff NDX brake pads gave as good cold bite as Yellowstuff brake pads, however the pad gave much more feel back through the brake pedal. The pad almost seemed less harsh than yellow, but gave a more confident feel, and also felt like increased control through the pedal. Really like the Bluestuff NDX brake pads and would like to continue use for the new season sprint races. All pads retained their integrety and show no signs of any crumbling on edges such as many pads do. Including to a small degree the Yellowstuff brake pads.

EBC Yellowstuff wins brake shootout on Mazda MX5-Miata
Last modified on 2011-07-29 14:00:19 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

After just four stops when other pads started to fade and fall off the EBC Yellowstuff shines through with the shortest stopping distances.
This independent test was carried out by the prestige US magazine Car and Driver in Mid 2011 comparing stock Mazda parts and Hawk brake pads.
Full details are show on this link:
Performance Brake Pads Compared Hawk HPS Hawk HP Plus EBC Yellowstuff
EBC Yellowstuff pads are a high friction Kevlar® based organic pad that has superb performance characteristics under heat and load such as performance street driving or track use. In 2010 all but a handful of drivers on the starting grid used EBC Yellowstuff for their race driving, including Rob Boston, the series winner.

In 2011 there are two race series in the UK for Mk1 MX5 and Mk3 models and again the majority of drivers are using EBC Yellowstuff pads.
At the Snetterton race track in the UK during the weekend of July 23rd/24th 2011, both Rob Boston’s Mazda MX5 (Miata) Mk1 claimed race wins using EBC Yellowstuff pads. Rob Boston also claimed a race win in his Mk3 MX5 recently at Snetterton.
EBC Yellowstuff has proved its pedigree on the race track but is also an excellent fast street material and in Europe is ECE R90 approved for many cars, making it a race material that is suitable for street use. As a softer race pad, lifetime may be more limited on larger and heavier cars for which EBC offers its Bluestuff NDX range (also R90 approved) or its soon to be launched EBC Orangestuff full track pad series.
EBC Brakes also produce a huge range of British made, cast and machined brake rotors for performance driving and are due to launch their new HIGH CARBON range in September 2011 together with their new range of “Blade” brake rotors for sport use.

Brakes for Racing

Racing requires much higher quality of brake components than normal street use. The Brakes need to be able to handle heat better, last longer, stop faster and not to damage the opposing surfaces or discs/rotors. EBC Oversize MX disc kits and MXS or EPFA disc pads have been a massive success with privateers.
EBC Brakes specialises in brakes for racing for all kinds of vehicles ranging from mountain bike race brakes to motorcycle and ATV race brakes and up to brakes for racing in cars.
Mountain Bike downhill racing brakes were pioneered by EBC brakes in the early days with Hope Technology and were developed by world Champion Steve Peat. The EBC Red grade of Mountain bike brakes for racing are detailed here… Mountain Bike brakes.
Motocross brakes for racing by EBC have been universally adopted by top professionals around the world and encouraged EBC Brakes to be a co sponsor of the USA Supercross series. The most used material for race use on Moto X bikes is the MXS series sintered pad or the new EPFA Extreme Pro sintered race grade pads.
Superbike Racing was another area EBC developed and dominated in the earlier years with its initiation of the Superstock series designed for spec changes only on Street based high engine size superbikes. This led to the development of the EBC sintered pad range including the EPFA Extreme Pro Grade and the latest and great EBC Brakes sintered GPFA range.
Brakes for Racing used on cars in closed circuit full race and trackday events is another area where EBC Brakes had a lot to offer such as the Yellowstuff grade pads for lighter cars which has been used by almost every entrant of the UK Miata series in 2010 and 2011 including the series winners and the new Bluestuff NDX trackday and race pads.
When considering brakes for racing there is no SINGLE solution and in 2011 EBC was put to the test to develop a race compound for the all conquering Nissan Skyline GTR which with its massive rotors, wide wheels limiting the airflow to the brake discs, low mass (being a hub and bell unit) of iron into which to dissipate heat this called for fresh ideas from the R and D team at EBC Brakes and the optimum race brakes designed were the new EBC Orangestuff range, due for launch as the first full brakes for racing from EBC in September 2011.
Early tests of the new Orangestuff EBC compound has shown higher friction and reduced fade compared to even the Bluestuff NDX grade on faster cars. EBC Orangestuff is however a race only material and not suitable for highway use, neither is it ECE R 90 approved or ever likely to be. Orangestuff is purely a brake pad for race use.

For MOTORCYCLES…
Race brakes for motorcycles feature the newly launched GPFA sintered series that have blown away many riders at Daytona 2011 and continue to impress every race team that tried them. The new race brakes known as GPFA are made of a special copper alloy produced by a special sintering process that grips from cold right up to racing temperatures with zero brake fade.
The GPFA series are however NOT for highway use as they are simply too high in friction for street use and for Motorcyclists wishing to ride to the track, enjoy some track riding and then safely commute home the optimum choice will be the new EPFA sintered superbike series which has all the in depth stopping power of its stable mate GPFA series but is not quite so sharp on first application making it more predictable and safe for standard street tyres , surfaces and riding styles.
The ever trusty EBC series MXS sintered pads are tough to beat and feature a special high friction sintered alloy compound with diamond ground surface finish and arrive complete with external hex drive slider pins in most cases (where originally fitted with internal hexagons pins)
EBC Brakes have some fantastic solutions including the new oversize beefed up 320mm Supermoto brake rotor kits complete with relocation brackets and ultra lightweight contoured rotor blades. These deliver 30% more stopping power than stock rotor sizes.

Best Brakes for Kawasaki GPZ 900
Last modified on 2011-06-13 15:47:50 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Motorcycle brakes are important to any one riding in these days congested traffic and choosing good ones is not always an easy process. There is so much BS around with everyone saying their pads are the best.
Then a lot of the disc pads on sale are either made in the far East and no one gets to know as some spicy packaging and verbiage clouds our vision.
One Company who has been at the front of brake pad manufacture for 30 plus years is EBC Brakes where 100 % of its pads are made in its own facilities
Made in the EBC Bristol UK factory which employs 114 people and is ISO approved and makes all pads tested and approved to TUV spec and carrying the German Traffic KBA approval. These pads have also been pre tested to the upcoming ECE R 90 brake safety regulations and even the Kevlar range was approved as SUITABLE FOR REPLACEMENT OF SINTERED PADS…..the quality is that good. N other Company has so far achieved this.
With massive friction and fade resistance most OEM bikes use this method of construction today and EBC are proud to not only be one of the largest OEM suppliers outside Japan but to make a range of compounds for the varying styles of riding and racing such as the
Double-H sintered long lasting sportbike and touring pads EPFA Extreme Pro Fast Street and Trackday pads GPFA Full race sintered pads
All these these quality brakes are made in the EBC Plant in Ohio USA

New GPFA brake pads by EBC amaze David Raff
Last modified on 2011-05-20 10:16:44 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

For the past five years I have been racing on EBC Brake Pads. I am amazed at how much they keep getting better! I have seen the transformation from GFA kit pads, to Extreme Pro brake pads, and now to the GPFA brake pad. Each revision brought improvement but the latest changes EBC made to the GP pads are over the top. The stopping power is amazing, but even better than the raw stopping power is the feel that these pads provide. I feel like I am more connected to what the front of the bike is doing and it enables me to go deeper into corners with less effort. The EBC GP brake pads gave me a confidence level I have never experienced before. Trail braking deep into the corners had my competitors scratching their heads. In addition, the rotor wear appears to be good with no signs of hot spots or scoring. Thank you EBC Brakes for another excellent product, time to go get some more championships!

Redstuff Ceramic – 3000 Series
Redstuff Ceramic 3000 Series brake pads are highly suitable for faster prestige cars of above 200BHP and are EBC Brakes flagship street brake pad material. Known for it’s low dust ability, Redstuff brakes uses the latest blend to reduce the event of brake pad “pick up” or disc scoring that reduces the dust even further.
There are a couple of reasons why EBC Brakes customers love Redstuff brakes, one is because the lowest dust factor brake pad at 60-90% giving minimal dust that can safely be removed with a wipe of a sponge wash with no steel fibre particles that can be found in ALL OTHER brake pads. The second reason is because they brake like an alligator from cold (just as good as the Original brake pads or better) and improve as they heat up.
The material used in Redstuff brake pads is a Kevlar® fibre compound that’s has been enhanced with ceramic particles. It is a vast improvement on the previous version of the EBC Redstuff pre-ceramic compound and is light years ahead!
In the UK such tests are performed at in Motor Industries Research Association (MIRA) where they have discovered that the car stopping distance is reduced by nearly 50 feet from 100 MPH giving a staggering 30% brake improvement.
As Redstuff is a harder compound it does however take longer to fully bed in to it’s fullest levels of performance (something in the region of 1500 miles/2500 kms of urban use), and it’s quite normal during this time to hear the occasional “chirp” of brake bad noise when they are run from cold in cold damp conditions at slow walking pace type of speed. After one press of the pedal the rotor is cleared from the initial dampness to leave the driver with a confidence inspired car brake pad.
The motto is to give the Redstuff brake pads the full chance to bed down with patience!

Best brakes for wet weather by EBC, X Series – Fully Floating Front Disc/Rotor

X Series – Fully floating front rotor

Ultra lightweight new EBC X series floating front rotors for sportbikes and road racers are now available from EBC Dealers across the USA although as a new line many dealers will have to special order these for you (takes 2-3 days).
The new rotors feature EBC’s unique and patented S-Drive button system which features square sided rivets captured in square drive pockets on the rotor and hub which allow the outer rotor blade to expand and contract freely under the heat of braking without suffering rivet lock.
Rivet lock is the term used when rotors heat up under heavy braking and the rotor blade contacts the (normally circular) rivets that separate the inner rotor hub and the outer rotor blade. The new EBC system completely eliminates this problem area which causes 100% of the failures of rotors suffering from distortion and brake vibration.
These rotors are equipped with the EBC PATENTED S-DRIVE SYSTEM
What is S-Drive? EBC’s new square sided drive button system completely eliminates the chance of rotor warping, extends rotor life and improves consistency of brake effect. Click here for more details.

Race Driver prefers EBC over Ferodo DS2500
Last modified on 2011-02-24 15:09:52 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
This is a report that came from one driver in Norway, we know its only ONE driver and there could have been system issues but the facts are, this driver took DS2500 off his car and replaced it with EBC Bluestuff NDX brake pads and was delighted with the results, same car, same system, direct comparison.
A dealer shared a feedback on some Ferodo DS2500 pads with us and asked for some better pads for Trackday on BMW, I gave them 2 sets of DP5689NDX free of charge for testing, I believe they will know where to buy trackday pads in the future after testing our Bluestuff NDX brake pads…(just waiting for some snow to go first).
The pads on attached pics are DS2500 used on BMW 5-series tuned cars with M5 E34 brakes, used on street & trackday for total of 1000km and they are not satisfied asking me for a better pad so I went straight for the NDX even if probably the Yellowstuff brake pads would do the job better than DS2500 as well!?
It has been very difficult to get in too some of these BMW guys with our pads as they all have been “addicted” to Ferodo – That starts to change slowly now with some of the guys tested Yellow R last season with very good feedback – and now coming season when we have the NDX I expect more of these guys will Convert to EBC.
Future looks good!

Best Subaru brake pads are EBC Bluestuff as top of the ScoobyNet Poll
Last modified on 2011-02-22 12:14:39 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
An ongoing poll on Scoobynet.com including Bluestuff NDX brake Pads by EBC Brakes is showing promising results so far. The voting finishes on March 1st.

scoobynet.com – EBC Blue NDX or Performance Friction Z Pads Poll
Here are some comments about Bluestuff NDX brake Pads on the forum thread:
Have tried both and the PF’s are a very good pad but Bluestuff NDX brake Pads are better all round.
Cold they have good bite and are silent, hot they are more on par with PF’s 01 Race compound.
I have been running the Bluestuff NDX since Aug in my car , had the wheels off the other day and after 6k road miles they are still like new, no crumbling like some pads do, there is no noticeable lip on the discs, they still look new.
I find the NDX very good from cold, even in the ice we had before christmas , they were very good, a good test for them for me is over the mountain into the next valley to our anodisers, a very fast downhill run that really gives the brakes a hard time and they work faultlessly.
My son was in Castle coombe last year on a track day in his 400hp Evo with NDX pads fitted with instructions from me to kill them on the track, he failed ! they just kept biting and biting.
I have tried the Z rated pads and didn’t like them, on two separate occasions me and my Mrs nearly went into the back of the car in front as they didn’t bite cold, only had them in a couple of weeks then took them out.
If anyone recommends the PF pads over the Bluestuff NDX brake Pads, then they haven’t tried the NDX pads.
I would recommend the Bluestuff NDX brake Pads!

Ultimax General Replacement Pads
A high friction pad designed for general replacement use on cars, vans and SUV’s (4x4s).

Most EBC Brakes rotors are made from British castings and 100% of these are precision machined in either the UK or the USA. EBC Brakes has 14 machining centres in these two countries to manufacture these precision parts. Rotors are made from high quality grey iron to exacting standards and undergo extensive testing and rigorous quality control and are then precision machined to your chosen slot or dimple pattern.
The dimple drilled rotor was invented by EBC back in the 90′s and has been imitated by many because of its ability to offer pad degassing without “Through Drilling” disc or rotor holes which has been shown to promote rotor cracks.
The wide aperture slots on the EBC units actually draw cool air under the brake pad and rotor interface and help cool the temperatures of the pad contact which can shoot up to well over 1000 degrees at the very heart of the brake pad during heavy braking and can cause brake fade or loss of brake effect.
These “Full sweep” slots on the EBC Sport Brake rotor also help remove dirt dust debris and water from the braking area but without doubt the MAIN benefit of such sport rotors is their ability to maintain a flat and parallel pad surface throughout the lifetime of the brake pad set.

EBC Brakes in New Zealand
Last modified on 2011-01-20 14:04:06 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
EBC Brakes are the number one aftermarket brand of brakes and have a strong presence in New Zealand in Magazines such as Kiwirider. New Zealand has a crafty way of producing some of the most talented racers in the world and we remember well working with legends such as Des Barry, World F2 Champion in the years past and TT winner Dennis Ireland. We also sadly remember one of the nicest guys ever to grace the sport Kenny Blake who died at the TT. I was on the Island doing timing for Tony Rutter that year and remember the commentary on Kenny, who was actually not an EBC rider, being very positive, praising his speed and style over the Isle of Man Mountain circuit. Kenny’s family were over there with him and I cannot imagine their grief that day when Kenny didn’t make the next lap.
There has always been a mixture of good and bad news from the Island and EBC Brakes salutes the tough and fearless riders from New Zealand who have conquered the Island course. The list goes on, there are many more Kiwis to remember not listed here that have helped EBC develop its brakes and form part of the history of EBC, now the worlds number one brand in brakes and growing every year.

Back during the lovely summer time we posted a blog about the Ring Challenge (click here to see original blog). The charity event involved some good friends racing in teams to the Nürburgring where they did one lap of the famous Ring before the run home again, all in the good cause to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity. The lads had a successful mission and you can read their write up on their website and blog here!
They also performed a brake test and posted an excellent video review on YouTube as can be seen below or on YouTube here. Thanks guys!
Those awesome people at EBC Brakes sent us a full set of brake discs for both the BMW 525i and the Nissan Maxima. They also sent us a full set of their newest compound pads, Bluestuff NDX formula – the world’s first racing pad that can be used on the street.
We fitted them and did some testing…
Thanks to EBC Brakes!

The most critical and safety part of a motorcycle or car is having well fitted brakes. Ineffective brakes can cause SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH. Unless you are qualified never attempt to install or service brakes. Brake pad installation and replacement is always best done by a professional fitting centre.
The best advice you can have for brake pad replacement is by following the manufacturers guidelines. EBC Brakes now have an EBC Installation DVD available for motorcycle brakes and car brakes that contains all the expert advice you need for brake pad replacement such as how to identify worn brake pads and rotors and exactly how to change them in clear step by step instructions.
The EBC Brake Pad Replacement DVD is available for purchase and in some cases given away free of charge on the purchase of EBC Products. Please check with you local retail outlet for more information.

Joe Cotterino says EBC’s EPFA Brake pads are excellent!
Last modified on 2010-12-01 15:32:02 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
I run a pair of Superbike spec 2001 Suzuki SV650s in the Championship Cup Series (CCS).
In 2009, I decided to try something new. I wanted to try EBC Brakes new EPFA brake pads. I was sure glad I did. This compound is excellent. I like a pad that has a little less initial bite but a constant, high and predictable coefficient of friction. These EPFA pads fit the bill.
I found that they bed in quickly and provide excellent feel throughout their service life. They have awesome stopping power that found me modulating the brakes at well over 100mph to keep the rear wheel on the ground. I never experienced any brake fade whatsoever even on the brake intensive, VIR North circuit. This tells me that the heat transmission is handled quite well by these pads.As the 2010 season developed, I found that my underpowered bike required me to exploit its strengths in braking and cornering. EBC’s EPFA brake pads were a serious factor in my being able to brake deeper into the corner and pass under brakes over and over again. In some races, it would happen over and over again, lap after lap. I would be passed on the straight only to retake the position into turn one. Between my EBC rotors and the EPFA brake pads, I was able to dominate on the brakes.
With the help of EBC Brakes rotors and pads, I was able to win six championships in 2010 as well as secure the #8 plate overall.
We will be on mission again next year, using EBC’s EPFA brake pads. I see no need to change when you have the best!
Thanks EBC Brakes for great, quality products that really work!

EBC Extreme Pro™
The latest in sintered metal fusion technology is now available for all modern sportbikes and road race fitments from the high tech EBC plant in Cleveland Ohio USA.
Our research lab has been working over the last year to improve certain aspects of our sintered pad range for roadracing and have come up with some interesting new materials. The new Extreme Pro range has been dyno tested, race track tested, road tested and was used by 8 of the top 20 riders in the Daytona 200 races in Spring 2008. The new material heat cycles better, feels better at the brake lever, last longer and beds in faster.
Extreme Pro pads are ideal for faster street bikes and race bikes alike but as they include many new additives and slower manufaturing processes they are more expensive and target the no compromise rider or race team. Click here to see further details

Jim Powell’s EBC Brakes GD Rotors and Greenstuff 7000 Review
Last modified on 2010-11-01 09:00:06 GMT. 2 comments. Top.
The front GD Sport rotors and Greenstuff 7000 pads are on and as usual are excellent in fit and finish. I will get the rear ones mounted Thursday night and can leave to Florida on schedule Saturday AM. I appreciate the whole EBC Brakes team attitude in getting me going. I was told by Place for Brakes when I ordered that the rear rotors would ship last Friday, or I would not have made the scheduling so tight. This will be my third EBC conversion on near new GMC trucks, tossing factory GM rotors and pads that are awful quality. This GMC Sierra 2500HD has flaking factory rotors, 30% pad touch due to rotor corrosion and greatly diminished stopping capability in only 12,000 miles, and under warranty were not being replaced by the dealer. The factory agreed to replace all rotors and pads but I bought your brakes instead. My wife’s Denali was converted this year also with only 15,000 on factory brakes, and now has greatly improved braking.I had a very good conversation today with Bucky at Brake Align regarding their hub shim kits and again mentioned to them the EBC Brakes quality. My hub and your rotors mounted are at .0015 runout, quite good and not in need of shims.
Thanks again, good luck at the show.

I was recently supplied with a set of your full racing pads EBC Brakes Extreme Pro™ for my BMW S1000RR. These were given to me by Wollaston BMW, and was asked to test them back to back against the factory fitted Brembo pads. My conclusion was, after two full test days at Oulton Park, that the EBC Brakes race pads were far superior in feel and stopping power to the original manufacturers equipment EBC Brakes last longer too!I will definitely be using these pads in my 2011 campaign in the British 1000 Superstock Championship.

EBC “R” Series Sintered Moto-X Brake Pads
For the ultimate durability EBC presents it’s “R” series high density series pads. A sintered copper material made in our own USA facility, the “R” series of heavy duty ATV and moto-x pads have become an aftermarket standard offering high durability, high resistance to contamination by mud, water, sand and grit etc. offering reduced disc damage and long pad life.
EBC SV Series Severe Duty Pads
If you want durability…. this is the pad to use.
High density sintered copper alloy for longest possible life in utility applications on ATV, especially in wet, mud, dust and dirt conditions.
You won’t find a longer lasting utility pad!
EBC Carbon X or TT Brake Pads™ Brake Pads
This is our best selling sport ATV pad!
For several years now this successful carbon graphite formula has been the choice of top enduro and moto-x riders for certain conditions around the world. The man advantage of this type of material is its lack of heat generation or conduction, which keeps both the rotor and caliper cool. Top Enduro and Hare Scrambles USA riders prefer this material for fast and dry riding conditions. The material is also very useable for standard sport ATV useage. Also TUV tested and KBA approved for street use on enduro bikes.
The TT series or X pads do not last as long as a sintered pad but are a strong favourite amongst Enduro riders due to their LOW HEAT TRANSFER

Redstuff Ceramic – 3000 Series Product Review

Redstuff Ceramic – 3000 Series
High Performance LOWEST DUST rating pads for Prestige imports and faster street driving.
There are TWO reasons our customers love Redstuff, First because they are the lowest dust pad we have encountered by reducing dust by 60-90%. Plus the minimal dust you see is very easily removed with a simple sponge wash as it contains no steel fibre particles as in ALL OTHER pads. Second they brake like an alligator right from cold (as good as Original pads or better) and just get better as they heat up.
This material is a Kevlar® fibre based brake compound enhanced with ceramic particles. If you have previously tried EBC Redstuff (pre-ceramic compound) this material is light years ahead. It lasts longer, it brakes better and is quieter.
Being a hard wearing pad, bed-in times can be as long as 1000 miles and drivers must be patient until the pad takes up the shape of their disc (brake rotor). This is a truly impressive fast road pad for repeated heavy braking.
It emits far less dust than semi-metallic pads and has been proven to stop a passenger car/sedan/sport compact/hot hatch 13 metres quicker than OEM pads from 100mph/160kph. Features EBC Brake-In surface coating which conditions rotor surface and accelerates pad bed-in. Nominal friction coefficient 0.5 with approx. 50% dust reduction.

Ms EBC Brakes, Genevieve Chappell at the Wired On Honda and RPM Show!
Last modified on 2010-10-21 09:59:03 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Genevieve Chappell (The Queen of Cars) and The EBC Brakes crew recently attended back-to-back tuner shows – Wired On Honda and RPM. Here is her report of the day:
WOH was held at the K&N headquarters in Riverside and had a down to earth, neighborhood car show feel to it. It’s a newer, annual meet-up and had a nice turn out. Because it is a smaller show, we were able to spend a lot of quality time speaking to the attendees which included many individuals who already use EBC on the cars, trucks and bikes. This also gave us an opportunity to introduce new and current fans to some of the newer and upgraded products in the EBC line.
EBC sponsors Formula Drift driver Jeff Jones, who brought his car and spent the day chatting it up with race fans. Jeff currently runs the Yellowstuff pad and the GD Series rotor.
Here’s what Jeff Jones had to say about EBC pads and rotors.

Moving on…
RPM was next on our list.
The RPM tour stopped in Irvine Ca on a hot, sunny summer August day, for a one day event.
As with most tuner shows there were tons of makes & models…including import bikini models.
EBC had quite a presence at the show, as many owners to sport bikes, customs cars and car clubs are dedicated EBC users.
There was a ton of buzz regarding the new Bluestuff race pad – a full race track pad which is also street capable.
One thing is for certain…EBC pads and rotors are strong, tough, long lasting, environmentally friendly and here to stay! Stay tuned for announcements regarding new products and events at EBC Blog.
Here’s the photo gallery from RPM Irvine
We look forward to seeing you this month at Crusin For A Cure at the OC Fair Grounds on Sept 25th and in Las Vegas at the SEMA Show, Nov 1st-5th.
Love,
Genevieve Chappell
Ms. EBC

Vette Magazine Product Preview on EBC Bluestuff Brake Pads
Last modified on 2010-09-02 10:56:05 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

The latest copy of Vette magazine has just published a wonderful editorial about EBC Bluestuff Brake Pads in their latest edition. Here’s what they wrote below:
Punishment-Proof Pads
EBC Brakes Bluestuff is the world’s first racing brake pad that can also be used on the street. It’s formulated using man-made Aramis fibers, which help deliver an incredible 0.7 friction coefficient and hold brake effect up to 1,000-plus degrees. The pad material is bonded to the steel backing plates using multiple high strength interlock holes and a unique chemical interlayer that prevents pad-to-plate separation. The pads come prebedded, allowing you to install them and head straight to the track. And once you’re there, high-volume Vee grooves work to catch the large amount of track debris you’re likely to encounter. Fitments are available for most factory and aftermarket Corvette brakes. See them online at www.ebcbrakes.com or www.perfectbrakes.com.

Brake Fluid
I really like the high temp brake fluid it feels great all moto long and never gets spongy no matter how hot it is or how long I ride plus I don’t have to change it as often as regular dot 4 brake fluid.

Brake Pads
I have been running the EBC brake pads since I was on 65 and they are the only brake pads I will run they feel awesome and have smooth consistent grab.

Brake Rotors
I just recently started running the oversized front rotor and I love it. I can charge into my turns so much harder and feel way more confident in my front brakes.

Honda Accord vehicle driver Paul Habgood loves the new EBC Greenstuff 2000 Series Brake Pads
Last modified on 2010-07-16 14:52:10 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Premium street sport pad for cars up to 200bhp.
General spirited street driving.
Ok, brake pads fitted this morning and 50 or so miles on them.
Fitting was easy, they where a direct replacement, no filing or removing of paint just cleaned up the spring clips, pushed the pistons back and they dropped straight in.First impressions are very, very good, I haven’t gone flying around but in a mix of town and dual carriageway driving. The ‘feel’ is very good and the bite is immense and I do mean immense. My Honda is an auto and needless to say lacks any engine braking. The brakes are as sharp as a razor when pressed hard and you can almost feel them engaging on the surface of the disk when you press gently to gradually slow you down.
TBH they are the best pads I have had in any car.
Very impressed!

Spendy Brakes
Worthwile Upgrades
Review by Jp Tech Editor

These are some of the best brakes out there in my opinion: EBC Brakes Yellowstuff pads and rotors.
I live at the top of a mountain and my wife’s ’04 Hemi-powered Durango offers virtually no compression braking. As such, she kills stock replacement pads and rotors in no-time-flat coming down “the hill” as we call it. The factory rotors developed hard spots and pulsated badly at only 15K on the odometer. I replaced all four sets of pads and rotors with factory-replacement parts from my local NAPA, which lasted until 30K. Then it happened again. I then went to Pep Boy’s for some lower-cost Raybestos pads and rotors for all four corners, which lasted ’till about 45K. Then I went back to NAPA for some more pads and rotors, which we eked to 60K.
It didn’t take a genius to understand that popping roughly $300-$400 every 15K miles for brakes wasn’t adding up, so I pulled the trigger on some EBC Brakes dimpled and slotted rotors (different than the ZJ rotors shown in the photo) for all four corners. I also did the company’s super-sticky Yellowstuff pads up front and low-dust Greenstuff pads out back. EBC makes pads and rotors for virtaully every Jeep application. However, if you own an ’04-up Durango here are your part numbers:
Rotors:
drilled & slotted
GD7105 front
GD7106 rear
Pads:
YellowStuff 4000
41639DP front
GreenStuff 6000
DP61639 rearThe brakes grabbed phenomenally better than the stock-type parts, whether unloaded or towing one of my Jeeps or my boat. And the best part is they lasted. I put the EBC brake parts on at 60K miles and they only now need replacing with 101K on the odometer. The dimpled and slotted rotors I used never warped or developed hard spots that caused the pedal to pulsate. However, they have developed very small heat-checks and small cracks around the dimples from the severe use. To the laymen getting only 41K from a set of pads and rotors and seeing small checks and cracks may not sound too good. But when you consider how brutally these brakes have been treated and how that big downgrade killed the factory stuff in less than half the mileage, I’m sold.
Now I just gotta scrape up an extra $700 or so for some replacements to get us through the next 40K miles.

EBC Pro-lite Replacement Rotor – Customer Reviews
Last modified on 2010-06-23 10:10:37 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

The EBC Brakes Pro-lite Replacement Rotor series has become an aftermarket standard worldwide because of its very close similarity to the original disc but offering a higher friction (18% extra) braking power over stainless steel and being a safe, riveted, sturdy construction as opposed to the risky circlip system used by some of our competitors. If the OEM manufacturers thought circlips were a good idea, they would have put them on the original bikes. It is also worth explaining to your customers the false economy of buying replacement rotor ring kits with the risky circlip systems.

VENTED ROTOR See ventilation vanes between EBC Premium Disc – EBC Brakes is proud to be one of the only companies selling a British manufactured brake disc programme. Our high quality grey iron includes copper to increase thermal conductivity and wear properties. EBC Automotive brake rotors are made from G3000 spec cast iron and full specifications and properties can be seen here. All EBC Premium Discs are cast to a material strength of 150 N/m2 with a tightly controlled surface hardness variation less than 20 HB and are precision CNC machined to a surface tolerance of less than 0.05 mm. That is TWO THOUSANDTHS of an inch. For this reason EBC recommends a maximum runout of fitted rotors of 0.1 mm or .004 inches (4 thousandths) TIR which means total indicator reading on a dial gauge. Runout figures above this will lead to vibration after 3000 to 4000 miles due to what we call disc thickness variation (wearing a thin spot on the high point of the rotor as it runs off-true) which is NOT a warranty condition. So you see this is no cheap import brake disc. These brake discs have the highest integrity and product quality on the aftermarket. An OE quality replacement disc, made of the finest grade iron and a perfect replacement disc for any car. I’ve driven my car everyday, I never felt braking this good
before. Its like this: I’d rather have a more solid braking foot pedal than using the engine to brake the car, it’s cheaper and it’s reliable.

Ultimax BlackDash USR Slotted Rotors
Ultra quiet sport slotted brake rotors
Manufactured using premium disc blanks mentioned above, the narrower multi slot design of the Ultimax sport rotor and the progressive angle at which the slots are machined creates a quiet running sport rotor that still has benefits of removing gas, dirt, water and debris and MAINTAINING parallel pad wear.
EBC Brakes have always been honest enough to say that the biggest advantage of slotted rotors is the fact that they promote flat and parallel pad wear rather than allowing ridges to develop on pads and rotors which is typical of “drilled only” sport rotors. By preventing these ridges brakes stay more consistent throughout pad and rotor wear life (simple physics!).

Greenstuff – 2000 Series – Premium Street Pad

Premium street sport pad for cars up to 200bhp. General spirited street driving.
Designed for premium street driving offering better brake effect up to 600°C (1100°F). EBC Brakes Greenstuff has a high initial brake effect and gives drivers confidence from first application of the brake pedal. There is no such thing as a NO DUST pad. The very nature of how a brake works requires that some dust be generated to avoid rotor vibration (shimmying). The EBC brake pad creates less dust and dust is more easily washed off than most. All pads create more dust as they are bedding in especially if rotors are worn. Nominal friction coefficient 0.55. For heavier faster cars and vehicles above 200bhp we strongly recommend Redstuff which DOES offer much less dust.

Just an FYI in case anyone ever has this question (like I did), the original Nissan pads did have a single wear clip exactly as the EBCs and they were installed at the factory on the RH side (passenger side) on the INSIDE part of the caliper facing inward (this makes sense as they would bind against the outside part of the caliper if installed on the outside. I would suggest letting folks know about this. This is not documented in the Infiniti service manual either but I believe they need to be installed in this fashion…
So far I’m extremely pleased with the initial performance of the rotors/pads; still taking it easy on them as they are new but they feel very good and are noise-free for the moment! Hopefully they stay this way. I do hear the whoosing of air coming from the rotors on slow stops (as mentioned in a note supplied with each rotor) but it’s a faint ‘air rushing noise’ and doesn’t bother me at all, kind of sounds ‘cool’!!
Thanks again for answering all of my questions, I am SOLD on EBC brakes going forward. I plan to try the Redstuff on my Corvette when the time comes to do brakes on that vehicle…

Greenstuff 6000 Series – 4×4 (SUV and Light Truck) Brake Pad

An excellent solution for 4×4 use, this heavy duty Greenstuff formulation has slightly lower friction than its 2000 series counterpart (average friction coefficient 0.45mm) but has the benefit of longer life and better resistance to offroad conditions of dust and sand etc. It has an extremely low rotor wear factor and medium-to-good lifetime.

3GD RDrilled and Slotted Sport Rotors

|
Gold anodised finish is applied to
all import vehicles |
Black anodised finish is applied
to all domestic vehicles |
Most EBC rotors are made from British castings and 100% of these are precision machined in either the UK or the USA.
Issue
I have a 2006 Volvo V50 AWD T5 turbo, i installed the Redstuff and 3GD Solid Sport Rotor – Gold Finish about 2 years ago and have had no problem with Smoother braking by far so thanks for that, but now I get a squealing from 1 front and 1 rear when I slightly depress the brakes, it is very loud and annoying so I am wondering can you guide me in the right direction to diagnose this noise and why… Thank You!
Solution
I will make you a set of the latest material which should be a lot better and these will be FREE of charge for you my man being a Military friend.
Customer Response
Wow, i am so greatful, and I know my wife will be to. Thank you so much for the help you have provided me, and for working for such a great store that makes great products, I have had slotted rotors and the Greenstuff on my Wrangler for a year or so and they work so much better than factory! With the service you have just provided and the great products I’m sure I’ll have EBC Brakes on my vehicles for life, and I am thankful for people like you that make me doing my job (infantry) almost 10yrs, hopfully another 10 worth it!

Yellowstuff – 4000 “R” Series – Full Race Pad

Ultra High Friction Pads for Race, Trackday and Street Use.
EBC Yellowstuff is an aramid fibre based brake compound with high brake effect form cold and is possibly one of the first ever compounds that can be used for STREET AND TRACK DRIVING. These pads do not require warm up but do get even stronger under the heat of hard driving. These are not a low dust pad and if your desire is for a low dust premium street use pad, you should consider EBC Redstuff. EBC Yellowstuff is currently produced in two compound versions – DM1846 and DM1793, both of which have been used with some success in racing. HOWEVER, for standard OEM brakes, as fitted to your car, there is no doubt that the DM1793 is getting better feedback, as it is slightly harder, slightly longer lasting and more appropriate for track day driving.
When considering full race use, DM1793 has also been a strong favourite, having been used for two years in the Swedish Camaro Cup and at numerous other race events where a stock caliper system is fitted.
If using a high efficiency aftermarket race calipers with 4, 6 or 8 piston set ups, the sheer efficiency might allow the use of 1846 compound. DM1846 is currently the choice of the majority of GT3 drivers which are pretty serious competitors.
If you have any doubts about which compound to choose for your street and track combination pad, go for the 1793.
