EBC Brakes boss Andy Freeman was caught off guard when he arrived for a whistle stop tour of the EBC Brakes Los Angeles facility to be greeted by a staff party in the parking lot hosted and paid for by the EBC Brakes Los Angeles crew.
The 30 Mexican staff prepared a huge selection of home-made Mexican cooking and entertained the group with some Mexican music and a few beers.
This is typical of the fantastic team spirit of the EBC Los Angeles crew, many of whom have been with EBC Brakes for over 20 years and are a much appreciated asset to the EBC Brakes group.
EBC Brakes moved into its new facility in Los Angeles in 2009 where the double warehouse facility holds over $13 million in motorcycle and automotive brakes such as the famous EBC Yellowstuff sport brakes and the new EBC Double-H sintered motorcycle pads that are market leaders in their segment.

Harley Davidson Café Customer Appreciation Evening Las Vegas SEMA Show 2011

Over 100 guests from as far apart as the UK and Australia were welcomed for the first EBC customer appreciation evening at the Harley Davidson Café on the Las Vegas strip on the evening of Tuesday 8th November, 2011. Contrary to rumours, the Australia crew didn’t manage to drink the open bar dry, although Les Smith and his band of Australian dealers, flown in at Les’ cost to Vegas for the SEMA show, tried hard. Les Smith is the owner of RDA Australia which is the EBC automotive agent down under and we were all thrilled to meet his customer group. There is no truth in the rumour that shares in Fosters went down to half during their absence from Oz and everyone at EBC Brakes would love to see any of these folks again or more customers from Australia at SEMA next year. Great fun was had by all. RDA Australia have had great success selling the EBC Yellowstuff and Redstuff ranges of pads for their market and continue to expand their business into the core market using the EBC Ultimax pad range.

EBC Brakes World Headquarters nears completion in Northampton UK

Maintaining its tradition of UK jobs and manufacture EBC Brakes nears conclusion of its rapid one year build of its new Northampton world HQ.
The new location houses three times the storage previously available at the UK location for rapid moving inventory and includes a three tiered mezzanine structure to add another 30,000 sq feet of storage and picking space for the rapidly expanding EBC product lines.
New operations include an upgraded motorcycle and automotive rotor machining facility and a totally new state of the art pressworks facility to produce automotive and motorcycle steel brake pad backing plates.
In a statement by current MD Andy Freeman the Company claims…
EBC produce the largest range of disc brake pads in the world and sometimes it is not easy to acquire backing plate steels in the open market fast enough r of an appropriate design.
Continuing EBC boss Andy Freeman states:
The new pressworks facility gives us the ability to tool new brake pads within days, to an optimised design using shadowgraph basics and re-engineering ideas that put us a full year ahead of our aftermarket competitors. We don’t just copy we engineer for purpose, innovate and improve.
EBC Brakes ranges include Greenstuff, Redstuff, Bluestuff NDX and the latest Orangestuff Brake pad formulations all designed and manufactured in the Company’s Bristol facility and EBC world famous Double-H brake pads and Prolite rotors for Motorcycles.

Gail who has had numerous years running her own business joined EBC in 2010 and has completed an induction and training course on Sage software and other computer skills required at the Company.
A Mother of two boys, Gail is to work from her home town of Northampton office as overall Manager of office staff and procedures working directly for Lucy Lawson group CFO effective immediately.
Gail’s responsibilities will be for all office, computer and admin support, coordinating office based staff activities and providing training for new staff on Company systems.

Lewis is accredited with 11 GCSE passes and a Distinction 4 x A* passes in his BTEC National Diploma and is a fully time served Engineering Apprentice with great talents and skills and joins Steve Payne head of R and D as a Friction Materials Research Engineering student at the EBC factory in Bristol UK.
EBC Brakes make the largest range of disc brake pads in the world and is proud of its prowess in the design of Friction Materials. Steve Payne current head of R and D selected Lewis from a group of applicants for the new post and joins all of us in welcoming Lewis to this challenging new job. Steve Payne is one on the worlds leading friction material experts and has been with the EBC Brakes group for 12 years after a short gap and will be a great mentor for Lewis and others joining the EBC Brakes R and D team in the years to come.

Even in a Magazine where up to this point zero advertising dollars have been spent the general moto x rider has stated clearly a strong preference and desire for the EBC brand.
Polling more readers than all its aftermarket competitors combined EBC brakes grabbed a huge 43% of the “Plan to buy” vote in the 2010 TWMX reader survey.

EBC World Headquarters at Northampton UK due to open in August 2011 moves into its final stages.

With expanded rotor manufacturing and a new pressworks facility for making steel backing plates the New EBC Brakes facility will increase floor space by four times over the current Northampton location and allow the expansion of the group to continue.
The new facility will have a parcel ship capability of 4500 parcels a day in addition to palletised distribution to wholesaler accounts.
A new fleet of Linde European made mechanical handling equipment found at www.linde-mh.co.uk is being delivered along with Mezzanine and storage from British manufacturers Link 51

The Wild & Woolly is a charity scramble held annually on Boxing Day at Alt Farm, Blisworth by kind permission of Ashfield Land Ltd. The event begins at 11.00am and lasts for 1 hour. This motocross event has been held since before the second world war and is all down to the kindness of local land owners and farmers.
EBC Brakes have been the main sponsor of the event for the last 20 years which gets attendance of up to 10,000 locals. Why not turn up on Boxing Day Sunday 26th December and give a donation towards a highly entertaining and worthy cause!

Work starts at last on new EBC headquarters in the UK

Ground clearing begins on the massive new EBC Brakes manufacturing plant and distribution centre at Northampton UK. Designed to bring dozens of new jobs, apprenticeships and increase EBC Brakes domestic made content from 92% to 97% the bulldozers are clearing the new site in Dec 2010, a year late but better than never. The new building will treble motorcycle and automotive sport rotor capacity and bring in house manufacturing of many pressed steel components currently outsourced from the EU.
EBC Brakes remain committed to British Manufacture and hold the line as the ONLY UK manufacturer of brakes not to run off to the Far East or the new era EEC member states to reduce costs.
“We can do a far better job here” says MD Andy Freeman. ”Plus we can do it faster and still retain British Jobs”
How ever hard UK government tries to make it for UK Companies to prosper with taxes, dis-incentives on CGT, IHT and employers and employees NHS payments, pension debacles etc. We are, unlike governments, here for the long term and not just one elected period. Therefore we need to think about 50 year periods, not just four.

Following the return of EBC Brakes at the Pep Boys, the April 2010 newsletter gave us a fantastic write up. Here’s what it says…
We are excited to announce that we have renewed our relationship with EBC Performance Brakes and are adding their performance brake pads back into our system. Initially, 76 SKUs will be added to all hub stories; an additional 55 SKU’s will be in the Speed Shops and over 300 SKU’s will be available through warehouse special order from the Indy DC. The whole line is available to all stores through special order. Look for brochures and counter cards to reintroduce you to the program.

Further expansion of EBC Brakes European sales has led to a new distribution centre in Poland.
The new 500 sq meter Krakow distribution centre carries over 200,000 Euro in EBC Brakes product inventory for fast despatch to all customers in Poland. Good luck to Robert and Pzemek with this fantastic new facility.
