During the off-season Jeff Jones Racing Team found their CX Racing, Cooper Tires Nissan S13 Formula Drift car on the set of a new reality show called “Date Night” from Sledge Street Entertainment. With a targeted debut in 2012 on NBC this new reality show is like the “Newlywed Game” meets ” Fear Factor” The shooting of this large scale production to place at Willow Springs International Raceway. The opening sequence of the show will display the Host introducing the show on the track as Jeff Jones comes screaming by in a Cooper Tires smoke filled drift.
The filming of the weekend consisted of 3 couples taking turns as passenger while answering intimate newlywed questions from the partner (via a wireless mic setup) during an intense high speed drift run courtesy of professional Formula Drift driver Jeff Jones. This provided major intense sensory overload and much comedic relief during very difficult intimate questions.

Prior to wrapping up production Jeff Jones treated the Director and Host to their very own taste of this wild professional sport and getting them hooked.
Jeff Jones would like to thank his awesome sponsors CX Racing, Cooper Tires, EBC Brakes, ClutchNet, Apexi USA, SR Motorcars, Brian Crower, CP Pistons, KN Filters and XXR Wheels for their continued support as none of this would be possible without them.

Alastair Boulton of STM Phoenix is hoping that forthcoming 2012 season will be as prosperous as the last two.
After being crowned as the 750MC RGB Overall Champion and Class B champion in 2010 and Class F champion in 2011, Alastair is sticking with the winning formula of using Yellowstuff pads by EBC Brakes.
Using Yellowstuff pads give Alistair a great advantage, as the Yellowstuff pads do not require warm up but do get even stronger under the heat of hard driving. Even up to truck weights these pads grip and do not heat fade. (The Yellowstuff pads, are not a low dust pad and if your desire is for a low dust premium street use pad, you should consider EBC Redstuff)

EBC Yellowstuff Race success again proves that EBC Brakes are the best truck brakes out there

Randy Merritt and Mongo Racing end the 2011 Best In The Desert Racing Association season with a bang having used EBC Yellowstuff brake pads and EBC GD series sport rotors all season . On Saturday December 3, 2011 Randy Merritt started the Transwest Ford Henderson 250 in Jean NV with his son Randy Merritt Jr. riding in the Navigator seat. The side by side start was exciting as Merritt started the race knowing there was no pressure on him. Merritt entered the weekend securely in second for the 2011 BITD Class 8100 points championship.
Randy Merritt took the lead with the whole shot off the start, but electronic issues limited the Mongo Racing Ford F-150 to about 90 percent power for most of the first lap. After the first 80 mile lap Merritt was only 4 minutes behind the leader in second place. On the second lap Merritt was able to get full power back and make up time on the leader, but luck on this day was not with Merritt and Mongo Racing. Merritt had closed with in 1 minute of the leader when the Mongo Racing Ford F-150 came to a sudden stop from a broken drive shaft. Merritt and Merritt Jr. fixed the truck on the course and crossed the finish line of the Transwest Ford Henderson 250 in Jean NV in second place.
Brakes are a big thing in off road racing and that’s why Randy depends on EBC Brakes to stop his truck on a dime all year long.
This marks the 9th season Merritt has finished the BITD Class 8100 season points in the top 3.
Randy Merritt is looking forward to the expanded 6 race 2012 Best In The Desert Racing Association schedule with excitement. Merritt and the Mongo Racing team will be making an exciting announcement for 2012 BITD season within the next few weeks.
The Mongo Racing Ford F-150 is sponsored by General Grabber Tires, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy, TNC Machine, Sway-A-Way, Trail Ready Bead Lock Wheels, Yukon, EBC Brakes, Optima Batteries, Master Craft Safety Innovations, Lucas Oil, UMP, Camburg Engineering Products, MSD Ignition and Mongo Made Graphics.

Best brakes for light trucks are EBC according to most of the media
Last modified on 2011-11-17 15:05:13 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

EBC Brakesare 100% made in the UK and the new Yellowstuff light truck pads deliver awesome stropping power and heat fade resistance.
The GD series wide aperture slotted rotors also do a great job of hauling down trucks and one recent write up on these products is shown below
STEP ON IT
By Bruce W. Smith
EBC disc-brake upgrade gives Project Super Crew improved stopping power and longer pad life.Brakes are the most important part of any vehicle.
You can do all the suspension, tire, wheel and engine upgrades to make your company pickup more efficient at whatever tasks you call upon it to perform.
But without good brakes those improvement are all for naught.
Add a trailer into the mix and your pickup’s braking performance advances to an even higher degree on necessity, especially when corporate insurance and liability are at stake.Maintenance costs are also affected. ProPickup’s reader’s 30,000-miles-a-year average is almost twice what the typical vehicle owner logs.
This means the front brake pads on the typical contractor’s pickup are replaced at least once a year (60 percent of braking is done by the front brakes) if not more often.
Multiply those annual costs by 6- to 8 times during the life of the vehicle, and the brake repairs/maintenance adds up.
Improved vehicle safety and a reduction in brake maintenance costs can be reduced over the long-term by upgrading to more efficient, higher-performance disc brake pads and rotors.
Such upgrades are all about controlling heat build-up, which, in turn, reduces brake fade and brake component wear.About Brake Fade
If you have ever done any trailer towing in steep mountains or in other situations where engine braking isn’t enough to keep the tow vehicle/trailer at a comfortable speed, you know what brake fade feels like.
That soft brake pedal slowly heading to the floor, the smell of hot brakes, and the slowly increasing vehicle speed brings chills to the body.Stock Ford F-250 front brake assembly has vented rotor.
It’s the same feel as you get trying to bring a heavily laden pickup with oversized tires to a stop in an emergency situation.
The brakes and ABS system are trying their best to comply with what your mind and foot are demanding, but the stop is slow in coming.
The reason for brake “fade” is so much friction is being generated between the rotor and pad that the heat causes the resin in the pad’s friction material to vaporize.
As vaporizing occurs, gas builds up between the face of the brake pad and the rotor.
This layer of gas acts as a cushion, and braking resistance is compromised (think tires hydroplaning on water as they lose contact with the pavement).
Brake fade on newer pickups isn’t so much about the vaporizing of the pads against the rotor, it’s boiling the brake fluid, which results in much the same result. With newer brake pad compounds, the pads transfer heat into the calipers once the rotors are too hot, and the brake fluid starts to boil forming bubbles in it,
explains Chris Longhurst, author of the Brake Bible.
Because air is compressible (brake fluid isn’t) when you step on the brakes, the air bubbles compress instead of the fluid transferring the motion to the brake calipers,
says Longhurst.
Voila! Modern brake fade.
The solution to controlling such massive amounts of heat during braking are pads made from higher quality materials, and rotors that feature some combination of holes, grooves, and dimples to help dissipate heat faster and give the vaporized gas someplace to exit.
While grooving the surface may reduce the specific heat capacity of the rotor, its effect is negligible in the grand scheme of things,
says Longhurst.
EBC Sport disc brakes and Yellowstuff pads address contrctor’s stopping needs in full-size pickups.
However, under heavy braking, once everything is hot and the resin is vaporizing, the grooves give the gas somewhere to go, so the pad can continue to contact the rotor, allowing you to stop.
EBC Disc Brake Upgrade
Our 2011 F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab 4×4 has a very good factory disc-brake setup at all four corners.
But as we added more weight to the truck in the form of accessories and equipment, and a much higher rolling mass with the taller, heavier tires and wider wheels, we thought it time to step up to a higher performance rotor/pad combination.
So we turned to EBC, a British company renown for their performance brakes world-wide.
EBC has added heavy-duty pickup applications to their popular Sport Rotors called the GD-Series.
The GD-Series rotors are dimple-drilled so they provide pad degassing without “Through Drilling,” which has been shown to promote rotor cracks.
The Sport Rotors’ special slots between the faces draw cool air under the brake pad and rotor interface and help cool the temperatures of the pad contact which can shoot up to well over 1000 degrees at the very heart of the brake pad during heavy braking.

Slots and dimples in EBC rotor face and special vents between faces all contribute to heat dispersion for better braking under heavy use.
These “full sweep” slots on the EBC Sport Brake rotor also help remove dirt dust debris and water from the braking area.
The biggest benefit is because of their design the rotors don’t warp, maintaining a flat and parallel pad surface throughout the lifetime of the brake pad set.
Adding Yellowstuff
The other upgrade we made is replacing the factory pads with EBC Yellowstuff.
EBC Yellowstuff pads are made from an aramid fiber compound with a very high heat range, and they work well when the brakes are cold and very well when hot.
The EBC Yellowstuff gives you as much bite as you can get from a stock system and in most cases will give a noticeable brake improvement while towing or hauling heavy loads,
says James Hallett, Vice Presidentof EBC Brakes USA Inc.
The GD7319 #GD-Series rotors with Yellowstuff pads are the best combination for pickup owners who do a lot of towing and off-pavement driving,
Hallett says.
If you are a construction worker or contractor who drives a heavy-duty pickup, those conditions should sound quite familiar.
Our Test Results
When we did the first track tests with our F-250 Crew Cab diesel, the 60mph-0 distance on Holiday Raceway’s 1/8th mile asphalt strip was 151 feet, with the subsequent back-to-back braking distance stretching to 168 feet.
With the truck sitting atop 35-inch Mickey Thompson MTZ mud tires, four-inch suspension lift, toolboxes, refuel tank and a number of other upgrades, the base stopping distance extended out to 196 feet.
Ford F-250 front disc brake assmebly fitted with EBC Sport rotors and Yellowstuff pads.
The second pass, made without letting the brakes cool down except for the drive back to the starting line, ended at 210 and a lot of soft pedal underfoot.
With the EBC pads and rotors, the first pass came in at 171 feet and the hot pass 177.
Brake pedal feel on the second pass was very similar to the first braking run.
Our inital stock-verses-aftermarket comparison shows the EBC Sport rotors and Yellowstuff pads definitely improved our big Ford’s stopping power both cold and hot.
We have also seen slightly firmer brake pedal and noticeably improved around-town braking performance during both wet and dry conditions.
The truck also tends to stop with a more level attitude than it did with the stock brakes
Here’s how Truck Supply & Outfitter’s Daniel Parker went about upgrading the front and rear brakes on our 2011 Ford F-250 Crew Cab 4×4 diesel, Project Super Crew….

Brakes for rally driving from EBC Brakes help Chris Greenhouse win 2011 RallyAmerica Central Region Group 2 championship for the fourth consecutive year
Last modified on 2011-11-17 11:02:22 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Chris Greenhouse has made it four in a row. The Weasel RallySports team driver has won the 2011 RallyAmerica Central Region Group 2 championship for the fourth consecutive year. Piloting his Plymouth Neon with EBC Yellowstuff brake pads, he took wins at Sno* Regional, Tresspasser’s Wil, Finger Lakes, and Sherwood Forest rallies. He also took a 2WD National victory at Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally in June and finished 4th in the 2WD National Championship series as well.
It was definitely a good year for us. We had solid, consistent finishes, a motivated team, and a little bit of luck along the way to our 4th championship. We had a few close battles, and we had to come from behind a few times, too. I think, more importantly, we were able to persevere through some adverse moments and we didn’t give up through those moments. We needed to hang in there to capitalize on the competition’s misfortune a few times, too.
Chris expects to return to the stages in January 2012 in Atlanta Michigan, USA at Sno*Drift Rally.
We have a lot of work to do in the off-season, so much so that it isn’t really going to be much of an off-season. We have a new engine going into the Neon, and we have a few other improvements planned for 2012 also. For now, I would really like to thank EBC Brakes for supporting our championship efforts. Get ready, because we are coming back even stronger than before in 2012!

Best brakes for Impreza are EBC once again according to Northloop driver Floyd Merrison
Last modified on 2011-11-16 10:58:30 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
I was lucky enough to be part of the EBC trial for the Bluestuff /Orangestuff pads. I wasn’t too bothered which to try as I’d been very happy with EBC Yellowstuff for quite some time and I therefore had a reasonable confidence in EBC products.
I had tried the Redstuff, which were considered a fast road pad. They worked well but didn’t quite perform well on track. Perhaps this was my driving. They stopped well enough but felt strained when I was really on it. I then moved to Yellowstuff and they did exactly what I needed them to do and are brilliant for the price. No fade, no horrid noises, good feel and no judder. the only downside was perhaps that they didn’t last very long before needing replacement. But you can’t have everything at this price!
A box of Bluestuff arrived in the post and I fitted them front and rear. I bled the brakes with fresh fluid to make sure I gave them a fair test. The bedding in procedure consisted of driving the car to Spa and that was it. I had no time to do anything else really.
I hadn’t driven Spa before so I had to rely on the brakes quite heavily as I got up to speed with the track knowledge. The pads felt good from cold. Better than the Yellowstuff if I’m honest. Once warm the bite was there and heavy braking was straight and true. No noises, odd behaviour, just good braking. Nice.
I took a well known instructor out for a few laps before letting him drive the car. No complaints and quite complimentary.
The pads look like they have 80% left on the fronts and 95% on the rear. That’s pretty good. The yellows wouldn’t have faired as well. AP4 pots and Subaru 2 pots f/r if you’re wondering.
So, am I happy and would I buy again? Yes and yes!

Team Yellow – September 2011 Gatebil from Team Yellow on Vimeo.
This is filmed during the last Gatebil event of 2011 at Rudskogen Racing Track in September. Ju stin Shreeve and Joe Ayala of Tandem of Die flew over from USA, this is the awesome result we got…. Best ever!!!
Team yellow are looking for a great 2012 season with help from EBC Yellowstuff, currently team yellow’s Subaru WRX runs on Yellowstuff pads on the front and rear, the Supra and Silvia have Yellowstuff on the front and rear with groove rotors on the front and rear also from EBC Brakes.
When considering full race use, Yellowstuff has been a strong favourite, these pads do not require warm up but do get even stronger under the heat of hard driving.
The reason for using Yellowstuff by EBC Brakes is an aramid fibre based brake compound with high brake effect from cold and is possibly one of the first ever compounds that can be used for STREET AND TRACK DRIVING.
It is also the choice of 90% of the Mazda MX5 Miata competitors in the UK race series and has an unblemished record as rotor friendly track pad for vehicles up to 2000 lbs weight or 200 BHP. In the USA the SCCA and NASA drivers have been testing Yellowstuff with feedback and good reports POURING in from a 543 test driver major market proving event with these groups.

Formula Ford 2000 Brakes from EBC work great and according to Race winner James Nash the Greenstuff is the way to go
Last modified on 2011-11-16 12:10:07 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
The EBC Greenstuff brake pads were up to temperature right from the start and that allowed me to out-brake my oponent as early as lap two and pull out a lead to win the race
says James Nash after smashing the lap record by out braking his rivals at the Walter Hayes Trophy. Silverstone was once again host to the Walter Hayes Trophy in November and Scott Temple didnt hesitate at the opertunity of putting old schoold friend and British Touring Car Independant Champion from 2011- James Nash into his Van Diemen RF82 for the Formula Ford 2000 race. After just a small amount of running in the car on the Friday practise day Nash was imediatly quick in the car and qualified it second on the grid for the race on the Sunday.

EBC Greenstuff has a high initial brake effect and gives drivers confidence from first application of the brake pedal, Nash proved this with an excellent start taking the lead by out braking his rival on lap two and pulled away to win by 5 seconds over the next car and smash the lap record in the process.
I really enjoyed the opertunity to drive a single seater again and the car was superb. The EBC Greenstuff brake pads were up to temperature right from the start and that allowed me to out-brake my oponent as early as lap two and pull out a lead to win the race
Nash’s win sealed a back to back victory for Scott Temple’s EBC Brakes Van Diemen RF82 and firmly establishing it as the car to beat in 2012.

Formula Ford 2000 brakes by EBC deliver best stopping power which is important of course and the Greenstuff pad prove effective in working straight away from cold and staying consistant throughout races and for the duration of the braking areas” Says Scott Temple after claiming end of season victory in the BARC Classic Formula Ford 2000 Championship
Last modified on 2011-11-11 13:36:11 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Scott Temple has finished 2011 on a high after winning the final round of the BARC Classic Formula Ford 2000 Championship. Temple who has run in various different Formula Ford 2000 cars over the last six years has always opted to run EBC Greenstuff Brake pads as his preferred choice, EBC Greenstuff has a high initial brake effect and gives drivers confidence from first application of the brake pedal. This successful partnership has seen Temple fight at the front end of the championship every year.
In 2011 Temple entered the Classic Formula Ford 2000 Championship in a newly recruited Van Diemen RF82. Unfortunately the first half of the year proved to be a developing period for which only 3 races were competed in with mechanical issues and all the mid season races being missed while the car was developed further. On his return to the grid in August the car was now much more competitive and Temple claimed third at Oulton Park, second at Cadwell Park and went on to win and defeat 3 times champion Ian Pearson at the last race at Mallory Park.
It was a testing start to the year but we did the right thing in missing half of the races to work on getting the car to a competitive level for the end of the year
claims Temple.
We were back where we should be for the last races and in the final race at Mallory I was the man to beat and I hope to continue that success into 2012. I would like to thank EBC Brakes for their continued to support, stopping power is very important of course and the Greenstuff pad proves effective in working straight away from cold and staying consistent throughout races and for the duration of the braking areas

Just a quick update from this past weekend.
Saturday the car was on display with Nitto Tires for the Formula Drift finals @ Irwindale Speedway.
Very cool event, huge turnout the biggest I’ve seen. 15 thousand were expected to attend I think that was about right, it was packed.
It was great exposure for the car a lot of pics taken and people checking it out. Thanks very much to Harry and Nitto Tires for having us it was great day. From there we loaded the car and headed out to Willow Springs International Raceway.
Round 5 of the Speed Ventures Time Attack series was Sunday, this was our 1st time running there so it was going to be one of those day where I would have to learn the track quick
to be competitive.
Lucky for me we brought our Ace in the hole Ed Jay who is an experienced motorcycle racer and his knowledge of the track was key to getting me up to speed.
It was a beautiful day for racing, nice and sunny no wind and the track had good grip. The practice session got cut short, basically no session. On the warm up lap a Infiniti G37 oiled the track and they spent the rest of the session cleaning it.
Apparently he had his oil changed the day before and the oil plug wasn’t tightened down so it vibrated loose and fell out. That left us with 3 sessions to get up to speed on a new track, we had a good 2nd session went well had a chance to get some pointers and see where we were with the car.
Nothing exciting only pushed the car about 80% but had this nagging ignition breakup but were able to cure that in the pits. Ground strap that wasn’t connected was the culprit. The 3rd session we pushed the car pretty hard, the car ran well no hiccups and were able to get some quality laps in. The car was handling really well and was very neutral in the corners
The car is quite a handful but with everything getting dialed in and the past year of development it is really starting to pay off. we shaved 11 secs off our time from the 2nd session. For the 4th session we lowered the air pressure in the tires and went for it…….. the car handle great and I was able to push the car harder and harder with every lap, got held up a little bit
here and there by slower traffic (inexperienced driver in a GTR) and others. But we still got some clean laps in.
Went for a wild ride coming out of turn 9 onto the straight, I carried too much speed out of the turn and got off in the dirt. I saved it and was able to get back on track.
After all was said and done I cut 4 more secs off my lap time and finished with a 1:41. I’m fairly confident that if I didn’t have the 210lb weight added to my car I would’ve been in the
high 1:30′s (Sorry Von)![]()
We ended up 4th in class just a couple seconds off the podium but it was a great day all in all and for our 1st time there we did really good considering the other competitors had track time there before.
We came into this event 3rd in the points championship and left solidly in 3rd with just 2 more rounds left. Thanks again to to my sponsors EBC Brakes for all of their support, we truly couldn’t do it without you !
Thanks to our friends and family for their support as well it means a lot to us to have your support.

Review on EBC Yellowstuff pads in light truck use- Question “ CAN THEY STAND THE ABUSE ????”…THE Answer is a clear YES according to F150 Pro Racer Randy Merrit who has been using the EBC Yellowstuff pads for two years now in his race efforts

Randy Merritt and Mongo Racing Have Strong Weekend at Second Annual Blue Water Desert Challenge
The Second Annual Best In the Desert Racing Association “Blue Water Desert Challenge” was held at the Blue Water Resort and Casino in Parker, Arizona this past weekend on October 14-16, 2011. The event is different from all the other BITD races as this one is a two day multi heat race format. This format separates different vehicle classes into 5 heats of closely competitive off-road race vehicles.
Randy Merritt and the Mongo Racing prepped 8181 General Tire, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy Ford F-150 drew first off the line in the second heat of Saturday’s race. Randy Merritt Jr rode for the first time in the race truck with his dad in a competitive event.
Randy Merritt piloted the 8181 General Tire, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy Ford F-150 truck into the physical lead after the side by side start. The drag race through the muddy turns and over the rutted out terrain proved to be a spectacle for the fans on hand to witness as Randy Merritt was the only driver to beat the other trucks from the right-side lane.
Randy drove the 8181 General Tire, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy Ford F-150 at a pace he felt comfortable running at. During the first lap Randy had swapped the lead twice, but at the end of the first 26 mile lap Randy was securely in first by almost 3 minutes.
At the end of the second lap Randy radioed in that he had a vibration in the drive shaft and could not get the truck up to top speed on the track. Randy knew that he had a chance at the win if he could hold it together, but if had to stop and change out the drive shaft he would be down for several minutes and lead would be lost.
Randy was able to finish the third lap of day one at a reduced speed and finished a mere 1.4 seconds in front of second place.
On Sunday’s race, Austin Cucci sat in the navigator’s seat for his first race. Randy again would lead the class to the starting line and got the hole shot, but after the unlimited cars and trucks raced on Saturday the desert track was rougher and a more formidable foe. Randy was able to lead the first three miles of the second day and then tried to keep the leader in his sites after being passed. Randy said on the radio after the second lap that the front shocks were blown, but the rest of the truck was doing fine including the EBC Yellowstuff pads and he was going to try and track down the leader.
At the finish line, Randy Merritt driving the 8181 General Tire, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy Ford F-150 finished on the podium in 2nd place, a mere 3 minutes and 4 seconds behind leader after 2 days of exciting off-road racing in Parker, Arizona.
After the Blue Water Desert Challenge Randy commented, “The 2011 Ford F-150 Eco-Boost has ran great all year and this is the same engine and transmission combination in the truck since the start of the 2010 SCORE Baja 1000 very few issues. I am proud of my team as we have had to work hard in the shop doing our own R&D and in this short amount of time we got this truck racing competitively on a consistent basis.” “I would also like to thank General Tire, since the 2010 BITD BWDC, we have not experienced a flat tire on the race track making us that much more competitive,” added Randy Merritt
The Mongo Racing Ford F-150 is sponsored by General Grabber Tires, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy, TNC Machine, Sway-A-Way, Trail Ready Bead Lock Wheels, Yukon, EBC Yellowstuff Brakes, Optima Batteries, Master Craft Safety Innovations, Lucas Oil, UMP, Camburg Engineering Products, MSD Ignition and Mongo Made Graphics.

Reviews on EBC Bluestuff and Yellowstuff by top racers and Champions Dan Ludlow and Peter Burchill
Last modified on 2011-10-19 09:03:05 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Our Team Vulcan Racing has been using EBC Bluestuff all season and clinched many rounds and the over championship using the EBC Bluestuff grade. Dan Ludlow and Peter Burchill both use EBC Bluestuff on their race cars.
Peter and Jason prefer the EBC Yellowstuff in their race cars.
Both EBC Bluestuff and EBC Yellowstuff compounds deliver great brakes, they are different in feel and wear rates but both are very creditable brake materials and we are pleased to be able to test and review EBC Bluestuff.
Said the race team drivers who supplied this race report below.
The team headed to Snetterton on the new 200 hundred layout for the final rounds of this year’s championship. Dan had already secured overall champion status and for this weekend had been drafted into the Britcar 24hr to drive for the Honda works team. We have been treated to the summer that did not happen with 32 degrees, 42 degrees track temp and some very warm cars. We had also entered a team into the 4-hour relay to finish of our racing season.
Cars Entered / Drivers
Car 13 MGZS Peter Burchill (Championship rounds & 4 hour relay)
Car 52 MGF Jason Simon (Championship rounds & 4 hour relay)
Car 26 MGZR Dave Brown (4 hour relay)
Car 52 MGZS Ewart Kitson (4 hour relay)Qualifying
Both Peter and Jason qualified well with Peter managing to be the fastest ZS on track out qualifying 2 cars from the higher class which he was pleased with. Jason was driving the F again for us this weekend and put in good times.
Peter’s best lap 1.31.702 P7 2nd in class
Jason’s best lap 1.35.859 P17 2nd in classRace 1.
25 cars lined up on the grid, in blistering heat today was going to be heavy on cars and drivers a like with 32 degree’s outside and 40 degree’s in the cars at the end of the race, it was a real test of tyres and brakes and cooling systems.
Peter held position into the first corner and a battle was unfolding behind him with 2 front runners starting at the back of the grid due to issues in qualifying which lead to some interesting laps until the pack had sorted itself out.
The new 200 layout had changes somewhat from the last race here last season and the turn 2 and 3 made for some interesting tests of the last of the late braker’s! Jason made his way past several cars in the heat of the race but coming under bridge a bit of a spin left him beached which was a shame as he was matching times from the front running MGF and gaining.
Peter brought the ZS home in P7 2nd in class which meant the class championship was down to 2 point, was this to be a weekend of 2nd places?
Peter’s best lap 1.32.732 P7 2nd in class
Jason’s best lap 1.37.185 DNFRace 2
By now all drivers had driven the circuit, we expected another hot race and were not disappointed with the October heat wave.
Peter was along side the Class C MGZS of Ewart Kitson and in front of the Class C ZS of Ashley Woodward and was set for a sprint from the line to make up for his road tyres compared to the faster classes slicks, the plan was clear get away cleanly and take advantage of the cold slicks in the first 2 laps. Jason was in the thick of the pack and needed to get away to catch the class leading MGF.
What a start for both of the cars with making clean runs for turn one and maintaining position for the first lap, a battle unfolded with Peter and Ashley with bumper to bumper and mirror to mirror racing for the next 20 minutes until Peter pulled out a one car lead over Ashley. Despite this Simon Cripps again won the class (B) meaning on count back Peter has finished 2nd in class this year. Jason had a great race but due to vibration he took the flag in the pit lane taking class win.
Peter’s best lap 1.31.835 6th overall 2nd in class
Jason’s best lap 1.37.788 P19 1st in class
Congratulations to Sarah Budby (who had raced co drove with us) who raced here new car for the first time and secured 4th in class and 4th in class in both rounds. We look forward to working with Sarah and here family again next year.
4 Hour Relay Race – It was going to be hotThe final event for the day was a 4 hour relay race in which we had entered a team of 4 drivers and 3 cars, with Jason sharing Peter’s ZS for this event. Peter qualified the team well with a P7 slot from which we would have 4 hours of hard racing against, Jags, BMW M3’s, Cosworth’s, Morgan V8’s, Proton cup cars, MGB V8’s, a bunch of Alfa’s, Trophy ZR in fact the paddock was full of some stunning race cars.
Peter was to drive first then Dave, then Ewart and Jason was to take the flag. The race was a great way to finish a superb season and all 4 drivers drove well, pushing hard to build up the laps and banging in consistent times which is key in enduro racing.
We qualified 11th out of 27 teams which we were pleased with the pace of the cars with full tanks of fuel. The race went to plan with each driver putting good times and moving us forward in the rankings. As the race was a handicap to balance the level of performance we wanted to finish as high as possible, thanks to the hard effort of all 4 drivers we finished at the flag 8th overall with 3rd in class. For a team of slower cars we were made up, and we awaited the final classification:Vulcan Racing – P5 Overall – P1 In up to 2.5 litre class
What a result for the team and the drivers to finish the day with more silverware.
Championship standings (Provision)
after 12 races:
Overall Champion- Dan Ludlow Vulcan Racing

Class B modified- Peter Burchill Vulcan Racing P2
Dave Brown Vulcan Racing P3
Class F- Jason/Sarah/Mark Vulcan Racing P3Not a bad season and something to build on for 2012, we will be in contact shortly with packages for sponsorship in the coming year.

Best brakes for the Ring or any race track are EBC according to Northloop driver Gary Kinghorn
Last modified on 2011-10-13 08:26:24 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
I run a track prepared E30 325i which has recently been repaired after quite a large crash at Castle Combe. When the rebuild was near completion I needed to furnish the car with new brakes. Having previously run EBC yellowstuff on EBC discs I was more than happy when EBC kindly asked me to test both the EBC Blue and new EBC orange pads.
The ideal opportunity came through a track day at Spa shortly after the car rebuild was complete. However the rebuild went right to the wire with the car having only covered 5 miles prior to it going on the trailer ready for Spa. Conscious that the newly fitted Blue pads hadn’t been properly bedded in I ran the car for 30 mins on circuit the night before the main event the next day. During this period I took it steady on the car getting some heat cycles through the brakes and give them a chance to bed in as well as I could.
The following day the brakes gave me confidence as had the Yellowstuff variants I ran previously. I use std calipers, with braided lines, upgraded fluid and a bias valve. The car weighs 1,000kgs and I had not experienced brake fade in the past and was keen for this to continue. I need not have worried because the new Blue pads not only gave great confidence that the pedal would always be there, but I consider they gave greater brake performance over the yellowstuff meaning I could hold on for an extra second before jumping on the middle pedal. This continued through the course of the day. Another surprising fact was how well these pads performed from cold. I was very impressed.
A good brake set up for me consists of one which stops/slows the wheels as quickly as possible, without causing locked wheels, doing this consistently for a number of events, while preventing excessive wear to brake discs and without substantial, aggressive, paint eating brake dust. I’m pleased to say the EBC Blue pads achieved all of this, very much to my satisfaction.
Back home the brakes were checked for wear and after 200 track miles I was very happy to hear they had only worn by approx 25%.
The next time I use the car on track I will again use the Blue pads. This will be on a tighter, shorter UK circuit and I’m looking forward to seeing how they hold up during this different test.
And when the Bluestuff finally expire I’m forward to seeing how the Orangestuff fair. A hard act to follow I think.

EBC Bluestuff NDX wins again in Spain Time Attack series
Last modified on 2011-09-28 11:31:38 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
The EBC Brakes performance pad range was recently expanded to include the new EBC Orangestuff pad material but many drivers are still having great success with the Bluestuff NDX. The advantage of Bluestuff is that it is (soon to be) street legal to ECE R 90 having already passed all tests and only needing paperwork completion (Sept 2011) and has superb cold/early brake effect making it a safe and driver friendly material to drive to and from the race track. Bluestuff does take more bedding in that Orangestuff pads but after considering this , EBC Bluestuff still continues to impress many drivers.
When considering brake compounds, one mans meat is another mans poison
states EBC Boss Andy Freeman and any brake company needs a range of choices which EBC now has.
Andy went on to say………
In spite of some over-the-top comments on forums, in the right hands and the right brake systems and if bedded in properly, EBC Bluestuff NDX is still one of the best ever performance brake materials to be sold
Good morning there,
We inform you with the last events we have been sponsoring and promoting, in case you want to share it the EBC blog…
Miguel Guardiola, champion of Timeattack.
Miguel Guardiola is already the champion of Timeattack(by scoring) in the Club A category, although there is still one more race. With three first positions and a second position, he is doing a great season. We wish the best for him in the last event. Miguel competes with a Honda Civic Type R which uses both, front and rear Bluestuff NDX pads.
We also wish good luck for David Olivar, last year champion in the Club A category, now fighting for the tittle in the Pro A category. A second position after his rival would be enough to win the championship, and to renew the tittle in this new category. David competes with a Honda Integra Type R which uses both, front and rear Bluestuff NDX pads.
We would like to show you some pictures of the last events we have been sponsoring and promoting in this month:

Best brakes for fast cars are EBC according to Modified Opel Speedster driver in the car called “Badster”
Last modified on 2011-09-19 11:33:04 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
The Badster project is an ongoing quest for more speed! We started the project in late 2003 with a standard Speedster. G-partners have provided us with EBC discs and pads from the first version of the car to the latest.
Over the years the car has been rebuild several times but as for braking force we have always depended and trusted the EBC brand. We have been racing the car in different racing venues and
have been performing tests with tire manufacturers etc. We had the record for street legal cars on Bilsport Superstage for two years and are now I third place before hundreds of cars being tested there.
The car has been featured in many magazines and TV shows in all its versions. The latest version (green one) is totally new and we look forward on driving it when ready next year.

The brakesetup now is modified EBC discs 345x30mm with HiSpec calipers and EBC pads.

Which Brake Pads and Brake Disc’s? “the obvious answer” according to Chris Wilsons co-pilot Marianella, is EBC Brakes
Last modified on 2011-09-12 12:11:21 GMT. 5 comments. Top.
I am Chris Wilson’s co-pilot. I am one of the few women in a sport that traditionally has been for men (in my country).
Tarmac rallies never have been my favorites one, because they are really fast. Lack of confidence in breaks was a concern for me. That is why we started to look for a better option. We did not have chance to test the breaks before the rally. I was so so pleased and really impress with the quality of the breaks, never before we had such a good ones.
This time the rally was in a Volcano here in Costa Rica, which is very high (http://news.softpedia.com/newsImage/Top-33-Volcanoes-6.jpg/)
The fans that follow the rally, came up (after the competition) to tell us we were flying even though the hard conditions (weat and coming down the volcano) the answer was obvious…EBC brakes!!!Have a good day
Best regards
Marianella

EBC Yellowstuff Brake Pads gave the best racing performance for Chris Greenhouse in his Plymouth Neon
Last modified on 2011-09-08 10:27:30 GMT. 1 comment. Top.
Defending three-time RallyAmerica Central Region Group 2 Champion Chris Greenhouse is going to New York later this month to compete at Black River Stages. The event, sanctioned by NASA RallySport, will be held in Harrisville, NY USA on September 23-24. Joining Chris in the co-driver seat will be veteran co-driver Brian Johnson.
This will be a good opportunity for Brian and I to get ‘synced’ again. We haven’t competed together since Rally in the 100 Acre Wood in February, and this will be a good event to help us ‘shakedown’ before the important Regional Rally Cup event at Lake Superior Performance Rally in October. Although Brian has competed here before, this is my first time at Black River, so I know that I need to get up to speed quickly on these stages to make up for my lack of experience at this event. Brian’s experience here will be a big help.
Chris is coming off an incredibly successful event at Susquehannock Trail in June. He scored a triple victory by winning Group 2 in both Regional Rallies, and also winning the 2WD National event.
At STPR, we were all but written off at the end of Day 1 after a very costly puncture on SS3, but we stayed in the fight and didn’t give up. Our EBC Yellowstuff Brakes performed quite well over the 2-day event.
Our plan is to go flat out at Black River Stages. I am going for the [Open 2WD Light] Class win, period. I don’t expect anyone to just let me walk off with a 1st place trophy, though. There are some good teams out there that can give us some trouble, and there are a few teams that we haven’t competed against, so there are a lot of unknowns, too. But we are going to push the EBC Brakes Plymouth Neon as hard as we usually do, and I want the win.
Chris, Brian and the Weasel RallySport Team, would like to thank EBC Brakes
To view Chris in action here!

EBC Racing brake pads are awesome according to Chris Wilson
Last modified on 2011-09-05 10:06:43 GMT. 8 comments. Top.
The EBC racing brake pads were awesome! I must admit driving on the pads for about 50 miles and then subject them to a tarmac rally was a little worrying but worry not they performed fantastic! At the end of the first stage we had smoke pouring out the brakes but no one ounce of fade! All day the brakes smoked but never faded even coming down the mountain roads. I’m well impressed and I will be posting my results online. We got 2nd in class , remember we are a 1.3L engine running in the 1.6L class. Even got fastest stage! So thanks guys! Full report to follow.

Mongo Racing Wins Class at 2011 BITD Vegas to Reno
“The Longest Off-Road Race in the United States”
The third race on the 2011 Best In The Desert Racing Association Car and Truck schedule is the TSCO “Vegas to Reno”, also titled as the “The Longest Off-Road Race in the United States,” was held Friday August 19, 2011. The start of the race was in Beatty, NV, North West of Las Vegas NV, and finished in Dayton, NV, a small city South East of Reno NV. The Course crisscrossed the Nevada Desert, covering 549 miles of the some of the harshest and scenic areas in the western United States.
Randy Merritt and Tracy Rubio teamed up to drive this adventurous race in the General Tire, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy 2011 Ford F-150, while Chris Golding rode the entire race in the navigator’s seat. Tracy Rubio started the race in the driver’s seat and within a few short miles drove with in 30 – 40 seconds of the lead truck in the class. On corrected time the General Tire, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy 2011 Ford F-150 was first in class. At mile marker 47, Tracy and Chris assumed the lead, not only on corrected time but the physical lead and didn’t look back.
Randy Merritt took over the driving duties of the General Tire, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy 2011 Ford F-150 in Goldfield NV with a 100 plus mile lead on the other trucks in the class. Randy made a quick 1 minute stop at the pit in Klondike NV to change fuel pumps as the fuel pressure was beginning to fluctuate at higher RPMs under acceleration. Chris radioed into the crew after the pit stop and said the issue was fixed.
Tracy Rubio got back behind wheel of the General Tire, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy 2011 Ford F-150 at Millers NV with a 200 mile lead. Tracy maintained the steady pace until Mina NV.
Randy Merritt returned to the Driver seat of the General Tire, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy 2011 Ford F-150 for the final 190 miles. Driving into the darkness of the Nevada Desert was made easy with the assistance of the 10 forward facing 8 inch 70W HID POD lights by KC Hilites. Randy was able to keep up his pace to Dayton NV where he crossed the finish line in 1st place after 14 hours 5 minutes in the Nevada desert.
At the finish line Randy said, “It’s been awhile, but winning the Longest Off-Road Race in the United States feels great. The General Tire, KC Hilites, Knock Out Energy 2011 Ford F-150 ran great all day and the Eco Boost 3.5L V-6 Direct Injection Twin Turbo engine again proved to be enough to conquer the harsh Nevada desert, but we need to go back and try to determine what caused both of the fuel pumps in the truck to falter.”
Chris Golding added, “The crew did a great job all day and I didn’t have to get out of the truck.”
Randy added, “I drove over boulders and rocks at speeds that would make most cringe out there in the Nevada desert and that stuff would have destroyed most other tires, but again we finished on the same General Grabber tires we started on, saving us loads of time and energy.”
The Mongo Racing Ford F-150 is sponsored by EBC Brakes.

Vulcan Racing – Race Report ‐ MGCC Donington Meeting 2011
The team set up camp on Friday night at the newly revised Donington Circuit in anticipation of rounds 9 & 10 of the MGCC Peter Best Insurance Challenge over the August bank holiday weekend.
We had entered 3 cars for this race:
Dan Ludlow MGZR 190, Dave Brown MGZR 160, Sarah Brown & Mark Burton MGF 143.
Qualifying
All 3 cars had a good session with, this was the first time Sarah had driven the MGF and the circuit.
Mark qualified out of session due to the car share.
Dan best lap 124.029 Pole 1st in class
Dave’s best lap 1.29.468 P3 1st in class
Sarah best lap 1.35.559 P12 2nd in class
Race 1.
18 cars lined up on the grid, and what a race followed, with very changeable conditions from dry to wet which made for hard work for those cars on slicks.
Dan lead into the first corner with team mate Dave giving good chase, Sarah had a good start and managed to hold station into redgate. Due to the changing conditions a few drivers exchanged places and even had a few trips across the grass. Dan had his first DNF as on the start finish straight it was clear that he could not get a gear, he tried to lap in 4th gear on slicks in the rain and after a spin Dan pulled into the pits. Dave drove his car to a class win and 4th overall really pushing his ZR160 and gaining good championship points. Sarah brought the MGF home in 14th which she was pleased with considering she had not driven the car before and had a spin.
Dan best lap 125.461 DNF
Dave’s best lap 1.28.968 P4 1st in class
Sarah best lap 1.36.097 P14 2nd in class
Race 2
By now all drivers had a feel for the circuit and we expected a dry second race, Dan’s car had had a new gear selector arm fitted and bush and so we were ready for race 2. Mark Burton joined the team to try the MGF and as the car was being shared it started at the back of the grid.
What a start Dan kept his pole place and was first into redgate and commanded the race unit the chequered flag which he was elated with, this also means that he is now the unconfirmed Champion for 2011. Dave had a good start and chased the leaders to gain P2 for the majority of the race however with a Dave was piped into 3rd place over all only beaten by cars from the class above how were running slicks and more power to weight advantage.
Mark had a flying start from last place, he had made up 6 places by the end of lap one, and he was pushing hard through the pack. This was the first time driving the car and coming into the old hairpin overtaking off line lead to a bit of a spin leaving the car with in the gravel trap. The Safety car was put into action and I (Peter Burchill) got to do 2 laps on the radio as spotter in the safety car. Being rear wheel drive Mark managed to get out of the gravel and rejoined the race. However on lap 6 Mark retired the car as clearly the kerbs/gravel trap had caused some damage to the car cooling system.
Dan best lap 124.839 1st overall 1st in class and fastest lap
Dave’s best lap 1.29.302 P3 1st in class and fastest lap
Marks best lap 1.32.823 DNF
Championship standings
With 2 rounds to go
| Championship leader | Dan Ludlow Vulcan Racing (mathematically Dan can not be beaten) | |
| Class C full race | Dan Ludlow Vulcan Racing | P1 |
| Class B modified | (its down to the last rounds to decide this class) | |
| Peter Burchill Vulcan Racing | P1 | |
| Dave Brown Vulcan Racing | P3 | |
| Class F | Jason/Sarah/Mark Vulcan Racing | P3 |

Old Classic car brakes from EBC work great on a Sierra 4 x 4 in NZ according to driver who gets his parts from Lyall Zohs the EBC Brakes importer in New Zealand
Last modified on 2011-08-22 12:53:30 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
I have a pair of Sierra XR4x4′s. A 1988 2.8 which is my road car. It was owned for 30 days by Ford UK, and was factory lowered. I’ve replaced the shocks, springs, completely polybushed, fitted new discs all round, YellowStuff pads at the front and Green at the back, Quaiffe quickshift, 15″ steel wheels and Toyo T1R 195/55 tyres.
The car had a cracked rear bumper. A panel beater near my work offered to repair it, but it fell apart on removal.
The hatch, 4 door and estate rear bumpers are all unique, and the vast majority of Sierras in NZ are estates.
I eventually found a spare bumper, but when i went to pay and collect it, the owner would only sell the complete car, a 1991 2.9 XR4x4.
U can imagine my wife’s face when i arrived home on a car transporter with a 4th Sierra (i had two Pinto estates i raced).
The owner allowed the car to become de-registered (very difficult to get a de-registered car back on the road in NZ), because it wouldn’t run.
Dropped the tank and extracted the pump. Wouldn’t go. While my friendly garage owner ordered a new pump, i tipped it upside down, gave it a few gentle taps on a block of wood, pumped WD40 into it, repeated the process, then reversed the electrical connection so it pumped in reverse. Burst into life. The garage were adamant it would not produce enough pressure and would soon fail again. A year later….. still going strong.
Recently, i’ve had a cage, race seat and 5 point harness installed, and stripped out the interior. But of course i did fit new discs, and Yellow EBC pads on the front, and Green at the back, as well as 15″ TSW alloys and Toyo R888 tyres.
Because it’s only covered a few kilometres in the last 5 years, i didn’t want to replace the shocks, springs and bushes until it proved itself. Definitely need replacing – see car angle in photo 170).
Got myself a National Racing Licence, the car homologated, and took it serious racing last weekend in the Winter Series RS Cup held at Manfeild Race track in Feilding (lower half of the North Island). This championship runs over 4 months, and each round consists of three races. I finished 12th, 2nd race 6th and 3rd race 2nd in the first round i entered (3rd round).
I run Green pads in all my other cars, and used Red in the Sierra estates, so u can see I’m pretty keen on EBC.
We get fantastic service from Lyall and Annette Zohs (EBC NZ), and when i’ve needed technical help or advice, i’ve had great personal service from EBC‘s experts in the UK.
Now if only EBC could bring the same quality and service to other automotive products (like brake caliper overhaul kits, alternators, hoses, etc).
The cars will feature in upcoming issues of PPC and Practical Classics magazines.
Photo 121 – heading down pit lane for the warm up lap of the first race. Photo 161 – race finish (other cars in the photo – orange Ford Laser / Mazda 323, Holden HQ, much modified Triumph 2.5pi, Sierra).

EBC Bluestuff success in Time Attack series.
Last modified on 2011-08-09 13:14:15 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Paul Doyle continues to push the EBC Bluestuff NDX to its limits in the Time Attack series in the UK and a write up of his latest outings is linked below.
Paul Doyles K Sport Impreza has been a proving ground for all of 2011 for the new range of EBC Bluestuff and so far so good, the pads are still working well.
Paul will be going on to test the Race only EBC Orangestuff in the coming weeks as this material approaches its final development phase.
Bluestuff is a race pad designed to be used on both the street and the track whereas the new Orange grade will be a race only material and not street legal or R 90 approved.
EBC Brakes continues its dominance of many areas of the privateer Motorsport Arena with wins in dozens of events and classes of cars n the current season.
EBC Brakes produce the largest range of brake pads in the world in a variety of compounds and are 100% British made with their ISO certificated factory located in Bristol UK and are part of the Freeman group of Companies Established in 1978 and still privately owned.
EBC Brakes have made record speed inroads into the USA and German Markets in recent years after their clear dominance in their home UK market and are the favourite choice of brake materials for fast street and race car drivers all over the world.

Following the success of the Vulcan Racing wins last weekend Peter Burchill has kindly sent on a race report for your enjoyment:
MGCC The Roy McCarthy Memorial Race Meeting – Thruxton 2011
The team set up camp on Friday night at the UK’s fastest circuit in anticipation of rounds 7 & 8 in the MGCC PBIC.
We had entered 3 cars for this race
Dan Ludlow MGZR 190, Peter Burchill MGZS 180 & Dave Brown MGZR 160.
Qualifying
All 3 cars had a good session with Dan and Dave having driven the circuit they had the advantage over Peter.
Dan best lap 130.717 Pole
Daves best lap 135.755 7th on grid 2nd in class
Peters best lap 137.040 10th on grid 5th in class

Race 1.
20 cars lined up on the grid, and what a race followed, Dan got swamped by the rear wheel drive cars off the line to find himself 4th, Dave got a great start and held on to 7th and Peter got away in 10th. For the first 3 laps the field tried to settle down on this fast flowing circuit with Dan catching the cars ahead ending in a battle for 1st place with current champion Ollie Neaves, whilst Peter and Dave traded places with Peter Bramble, buy the later stages of the race the class B cars (Peter and Dave) had already got passed one of the V8’s in class C but were stuck behind another which just had the performance to pull itself up the hill. Then again being some 200+ kilos lighter than the ZS this is probably why.
Dan drove a blinding race as he was carrying ballast of 100 kilos making him heavier than the next car in his class buy over 200 kilos, but both cars run the same VHPD engine and driver ability shone through as by looking after his tyres he was able to over take in the complex on the last lap and leading Ollie through the rest of fast sweeping circuit to the line.
Dan finished P1 and first in class with a fastest lap of 131.880
Peter finished P7 2nd in class with a fastest lap of 135.078
Dave finished P9 3rd in class with a fastest lap of 135.126

Race 2
By now all drivers had a feel for the circuit and we expected the start to be as frantic as race 1, and it was. Dan was on pole and managed to minimise the cars getting past him as the fwd struggled for grip of the line. It is a very strange sound listening to MGB’s with launch control!.
All drivers got away however with one car struggling to get drive on the first corner evasive action was taken by all parties. Dave was cutting his way through the pack and managed to close down the V8’s, who’s wide sideways cornering style at 100mph made for an interesting view from behind. However after a few laps Peter was able to set up a clean move through Village to get passed and managed to stretch the legs of the V6, a circuit that you can use 5th gear on! Followed by a 4 lap chase and trading places with class V8 only to left behind up the hill. With great close racing with Peter Bramble in his MGB.
Dan had a much closer race with Ollie who was getting the most of his slick tyres and they traded places throughout the race, however as in race one smooth driving style of Dan paid dividends as he had full grip levels and was able to over take and lead Ollie to the flag again.
Dan finished P1 and first in class with a fastest lap of 130.434
Peter finished P7 2nd in class with a fastest lap of 135.125
Dave finished P10 4th in class with a fastest lap of 136.133

Dan Lofthouse has been having huge off road racing success using EBC Bluestuff NDX racing brake pads in the BCCC (British Cross Country Championships). Dan and his co-driver Jonny Koonja are now equal first in the championship with another team. The new ‘Lofthouse Freelander’ car that they’ve been racing has been self made by Dan and is fitted with an ACR 4.4 litre Jaguar V8 engine with a 6 speed gear sequential gearbox and of course EBC Bluestuff NDX racing Brakes.

Dan who has been into buggies and quads most of his life since childhood has won a few championships in the past or finished in at least the top 6 in several Championships over the years.

The following video footage shows Dan Lofthouse at Round 3 of the 2011 Britpart British Cross Country Championship at Forrest Lodge in Scotland:

Top Formula Drift brakes by EBC make for a great practice for Jeff Jones
Last modified on 2011-07-20 14:23:03 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

This was the first time that Formula D has made its way down to West Palm Beach, Florida. I hope this is a new stop for years to come. It is always cool to be on a full road course. I had most fun drifting the whole track while getting back to the starting line.
For this round I had setup some new front knuckles that would have less acronym and more angle. I was really enjoying how the car felt, but after an hour into practice Formula Drift decided to change the whole track completely. The night practice was intense, flying through the course and exiting inches from the wall in a huge cloud of smoke.

For qualifying I had a good run but just missed the speed points by just half a mph. This gave me a score of 68 and put me in 25th place, going against Falken Tire driver Tyler McQuarrie. With the autograph session over, I switched out the diff to the 4.6 rear gear, and switched to the Cooper RS3 Tire. It’s a 275/40/18, the big stuff.

The practice on Friday night was great. The new setup was working perfect. I did have some trouble with the first clipping point that took out half of my front bumper. For Saturday’s Competition day, I put on my spare bumper and a fresh set of tires and went to work. My speed did pick up, but Tyler did something to his car that made him slower. I thought I would need the jump on him to keep up on my following lap. This really went against me. I had to hit the brakes down the straight to let him pass. This put us really close on the entry but gave me a loss momentum and I fell back a few feet.

On my lead lap I did an almost perfect run except for a small tire drop with the left rear wheel. Tyler had a few mistake behind me. I really felt like I had it as did Formula D judge Tony Angelo who voted for me against the other two judges. Man, were the fans mad, as was I. This was definitely labeled as one of the controversial calls of this round. Of course the audience booed the call and to make it worse everybody told me I was robbed. But hey it’s a judged sport and that’s how it go’s. I’ll keep my head high and keep pushing.

Thank you to EBC Brakes for all your support!!!

EBC Bluestuff is perfect on Time Attack race winners Impreza
Last modified on 2011-07-15 10:54:07 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

In the right hands and in the right brake set up, EBC Bluestuff NDX is once again proven to be a first class compound for the fastest cars even in circuit use. Paul Doyle’s car uses the superb K Sport calipers but Bluestuff will of course perform in any quality caliper and even standard brake systems when bedded in properly.
Recent Circuit visits have shown that even the early Subaru two pot calipers can run Bluestuff perfectly if sufficient bedding is done and full pad contact achieved. Early users did experience some vibration in initial use of the harder Bluestuff on early Imprezas but drivers proved that once full pad contact as achieved the vibration went away and the pads work well. Like any durable race pad, bedding the brakes in is important.

EBC Bluestuff brakes work perfectly for championship winning Vulcan team at Silverstone
Last modified on 2011-07-15 10:54:15 GMT. 1 comment. Top.

Dan Ludlow and Peter Burchill of Vulcan racing had fantastic success last weekend at Silverstone race circuit during the MG Live event.
Both drivers use EBC Brakes new Bluestuff NDX compound and EBC GD series sport brake discs in their race winning MGZR and MGZS cars.

Here is a race report of the day:
MG Live – Silverstone GP Circuit.
The team arrived on mass on Thursday night to set up camp in pit garage 4 in preparation for racing at MG Live. This year we had entered 3 cars:
| MGZR 190 | Dan Ludlow with special guest Slim Borgudd | PBIC races & Enduro |
| MGZS 180 | Peter Burchill with special guest Anthony Reid | PBIC races & Enduro |
| MGZR 160 | Dave Brown & Sarah Budby | PBIC races |
We set up the garage and got the cars unloaded and carried out full spanner checks and set changes to suit the fast flowing F1 circuit that we would be testing on in final preparation for testing on Friday.

Friday testing:
All 3 cars tested giving each of our drivers the chance to learn the circuit and for Sarah to get in the car for only here second time and put in some good consistent testing times, however due to red flags the session were not as productive as we would have liked, but that’s testing for you.

Saturday:
For the team this was a great day of networking and meeting sponsors who had joined us for the weekend at the MGCC premier event. However our mechanics were busy as from Fridays feed back and times. With all cars being re set up and corner weighted and suspension tweaks in anticipation of Sunday’s busy racing schedule.
Sunday:
The main events were with us with 2 qualification sessions and 2 championship races followed by a 45 minute endurance race. Red Bull was on tap for the mechanics and pit lane helpers as with only 10 minutes between events to fuel check and change tyres it was busy to say the least.
We are very proud that we had been joined by Slim Borgudd and Anthony Reid. Who had agreed to share 2 of the team cars for the endurance race. Special thanks o Steve Carr at the MGCC (for allowing this).
With the sun burning through it was set to be a good day.
PBIC Qualifying – 45 cars filled the holding area, 27 from our championship and 21 from Cockshoot Cup so for our drivers we faced a new circuit and a mass of cars we did not know.
Sarah for the first time qualified in session with Peter and Dan leaving Dave to qualify out of session due to car sharing for the 2nd PBIC race.
Dan qualified on Pole 2.29.079
Peter qualified 16th 2.44.717
Sarah qualified 19th 2.45.296
Endurance Race Qualifying – We had a small gap to get the cars ready for the session our guest drivers were ready and Dan and Peter did 3 required laps to allow Slim and Anthony to get used to the cars…..
And did they…
Slim put the car on P3 with a stunning 2.27.793 beating a full spec Britcar to be the fastest ZR of the day.
Anthony put the car on P9 on road tyres with a 2.33.444 the fastest ZS of the day.
We can’t thank our guests enough as the help and suggestions given to all members of the team, which will stand us all in good stead for the racing ahead.

Anthony “It’s clear the MGZS shares the same DNA as that of the touring cars I drove”
Slim “One of the best prepared club race cars I have seen or driven”

Race 8 PBIC – 28 degrees with tarmac searing the PBIC /Cockshoot formed up on the GP Circuit ready for the 5 sec board and the lights went out and the battle started, all 3 made good starts and the fighting for places started. What a circuit hard on cars, hard on brakes and tyres however all 3 of the team cars performed well. With such a variety of cars it was a real test for Sarah who in here second race drove superbly to a good result. Peter pushed hard and fault past a very wide V8 to move up the grid, while Dan stole the show with starting Pole and winning the race, however fastest lap went to Ollie again.
Dan finished 1st overall 1st in PBIC fastest lap 2.30.051
Peter finished 10th overall 7th in PBIC and 2nd in class fastest lap 2.40.712
Sarah finished 19th overall 14th in PBIC and 5th in class fastest lap 2.45.675

Race 12 PBIC – 39 cars lined up for the 2nd race of the day with Dan and Peter having already experience the charge for first corner this time it was down to David Brown in the ZR to start at the rear 39th (due to car share). The lights went out and Dan was piped to the first corner by Ollie while being chased by the pack, one of the cars had a spin into the wall but the driver was unhurt and we all charged round the 3.6 mile circuit.
Peter was tied in a battle with a V8’s MGF and Midgets from his 14th starting point; however Dave was on a charge from the back of the pack. By halfway through the race all cars had made good progress and with the high temperatures on track tyres we going off and handling was key. The flag was a waved and the team cars had finished all in one piece (David suffered a few rubs going through the pack).
Dan Finished 1st overall 1st in PBIC fastest lap 2.28.639
Peter finished 11th overall 7th in PBIC and 2nd in class fastest lap 2.42.209
David finished 16th overall 10th in PBIC and 5th in class fastest lap 2.45.675 (That’s 23 places made up)

Endurance Race – With only 20 minutes to get the cars ready and tyre changes the boys worked flat out, both cars were ready fuelled and on the grid. This was Peter’s first race on slicks and was to prove eventful on the first lap. Thanks to Anthony & Slim, Peter and Dan started right in the thick of it.
Go go go and the battle began, both cars got a great start and held station into turn one, buy hanger straight the field was spreading out with Dan in the thick of the pack at the front, Peter was defending and struggling with cold tyres, but with lap one complete Dan had a alternator failure resulting with him coasting into the pit lane, and having to push the car the last 150 yards until in sight of the pit crew, some clever use of a jump pack and gaffer tape saw the car rejoin 4 laps down. Buy this time Peter was finding grip and racing with another ZS of Ewart Kitson trying to make up places after a trip across the grass at the end of the new start finish straight.
The pit lane was due to open and when Peter was given a board with a P on he mistakenly dived into the pits on the following lap not before dispatching Kitson through Maggots. However on arrival it was clear that the pits were not open and in frustration Peter rejoined the track to put in one of his fastest laps.
The Pits are open! Peter and Dan dived in to let the guest drivers take over…

The pace of both cars was superb with lap times tumbling the boys cut there way through the pack. Anthony put on a storming pace and got us into P3, in fact he drove the bumper of the car much to the crowds amusement in a touring car style dragged it with him for several laps. Anthony tried driving full chat down hanger straight on the grass to try and shack it off, however an additional pit stop was required to rip it off a lap before the end of the race. At the Flag Anthony took P6 for the team with a flying 2.31.576. Mean while Slim drove to the flag with a best lap of 2.30.426.

I would like again to thank our guests and sponsors for the support to allow us to run the cars for this event. We look forward to Thruxton and the next rounds in July.

EBC Bluestuff brake pads surpass their performance for Hugh Barber

Just thought I’d give you some feedback on those Bluestuff brake pads you sent me last year. In a word – Excellent. I was using the Yellowstuff brake pads and I thought those were very good, but the Bluestuff pads easily surpassed their performance, especially at fast tracks like VIR. I could easily outbrake many of my fellow competitors and there was absolutely no fade. I had full brakes through entire 30 minute sessions on the VIR Grand course. I’ve enclosed a picture of the car at the recent SAAC36/SVT Superfest event at VIR.

2010 Champion Rob Boston uses EBC Yellowstuff brake pads exclusively in his championship winning Mazda MX5.
Yellowstuff saves me yards on braking and performed flawlessly throughout 2010 helping me win the UK championship whilst driving my Mark 1. For 2011 I’ve chosen to continue to use EBC Yellowstuff brake pads in my new Mark3 which I’m driving this year in the MX5 cup and so far I’ve only been beaten twice. These brakes are fabulous, if they weren’t the best I wouldn’t be using them and winning on them.

Best Brakes for Kawasaki GPZ 900

Motorcycle brakes are important to any one riding in these days congested traffic and choosing good ones is not always an easy process. There is so much BS around with everyone saying their pads are the best.
Then a lot of the disc pads on sale are either made in the far East and no one gets to know as some spicy packaging and verbiage clouds our vision.
One Company who has been at the front of brake pad manufacture for 30 plus years is EBC Brakes where 100 % of its pads are made in its own facilities
Made in the EBC Bristol UK factory which employs 114 people and is ISO approved and makes all pads tested and approved to TUV spec and carrying the German Traffic KBA approval. These pads have also been pre tested to the upcoming ECE R 90 brake safety regulations and even the Kevlar range was approved as SUITABLE FOR REPLACEMENT OF SINTERED PADS…..the quality is that good. N other Company has so far achieved this.
With massive friction and fade resistance most OEM bikes use this method of construction today and EBC are proud to not only be one of the largest OEM suppliers outside Japan but to make a range of compounds for the varying styles of riding and racing such as the
Double-H sintered long lasting sportbike and touring pads EPFA Extreme Pro Fast Street and Trackday pads GPFA Full race sintered pads
All these these quality brakes are made in the EBC Plant in Ohio USA
The attached write up comes from another satisfied tester of EBC Brakes and we want to thank Kevin Dainty (Worcester College of Technology EcoCampus Group), for his nice article and positive comments made freely without any connection to EBC or any arm twisting. Here’s his blog link:

Yellowstuff brakes by EBC for Mighty Mini’s are a winner for Ade Tuckley
Last modified on 2011-05-31 14:00:21 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

The Mighty Minis were at Snetterton this weekend for a double header. I finished 4th yesterday and won today’s race!
Race 1:
I qualified 5th which I was pleased with as I had an electrical fault during the session which meant I had to pit, but managed to get back out for a few laps after I’d fixed it. In the race I got a good start and beat Louise Inch off the line which put me straight up to 4th. After a few laps the front 2 managed to break away while the rest of us jostled for position. In the end none of us managed to catch the front 2 but the battle for 3rd place was very close and I finished 4th, just 0.1 of a second behind Mark Burnett in 3rd. I did get fastest lap of the race on the last lap.
Race 2:
I started this race in 4th and made a place on the first lap, and by lap 5 I’d made it into 2nd place. Down the back straight I slip-streamed passed Chris Slade to take the lead which I held until lap 9, where Chris Slade re-took the lead and Louise Inch followed in his slip-stream which dropped me back to 3rd. Louise then made a mistake on lap 10 at the last corner which gave me 2nd place back, and then on the last lap I overtook Chris Slade down the back straight to put me back in the lead. Coming into the last corner he attempted a last-second dive up the inside but came in too fast, hopped the mini over the high curb and put it right up onto 2 wheels. Somehow I managed to miss him and got a good view of the underside of his car, and won the race by 0.2 of a second to Peter Tervet. Chris Slade managed not to roll his car and finished 7th.
Good brakes were required at this circuit for the new hairpin and the Yellowstuff brake pads were definitely up to the job.
Thanks for your support.

Great brakes for Formula Drift perform well for Jeff Jones

XDC Orlando Recap
Well Orlando, Florida XDC Round 3 was a lot of unexpected events. We decided to do this event because it was on the way to Formula D’s Round 3 in West Palm Beach. When we got into Orlando on Friday and it was a hot and very humid day, then one hour later there was a thunder storm with 50mph winds (great).

For Saturday’s practice day I decided to watch a few cars go through the course and really try to get a feel for this new course for us. I soon realized this was not a drift event, it was a…… crash test day. Car after car into the wall!!! Cleaning up after all of the carnage took up a large part of the day, then to make things worse another storm came in, and ended practice too early for everyone.

Sunday’s competition day did not go as planned after we ran into an issue with bending an inner tie rod on are second practice lap. The repairs did not get finished until qualifying time. Regrettably I was not able to go in 100% with full confidence. I knew I needed to save the car for the next Formula Drift round, and not become victim to all the wrecking going on, so I went in easy at about 80%. After qualifying was over, we set the car up for tandem. During the drivers meeting are day was cut short. Unfortunately we did not make into the Top 16 cut. It was hard to hold the head up after that loss but with all the fans lined up ready to get a autograph, I had to get over it and pull the sharpie out and be grateful our car is in one piece ready to fight it’s way to the TOP!!

Thank you to all my fans, friends and family.
Big thanks to my sponsors EBC Brakes!

Best Brakes for Drift racing are clearly EBC Yellowstuff according to professional racer Jeff Jones

This weekend started off with some hot weather!
My team and I had planned to go to XDC Round 2 in Arizona with the intent of testing some new parts on the car. Most of the changes we were looking into were the suspension settings. Everything was working well. This course, Firebird Raceway, has a high speed entry of 75+ mph, with an up shift to fourth gear, enter hard right, then up shift and swing left through the next corner and it puts you flying down the straight. Of course then slam on our EBC Brakes to downshift to second gear for the hairpin turn. We had a blast. The car was consistent on every lap and that gave me a lot of confidence to it push even harder on every lap.I qualified in 4th place with the highest speed of 75mph out of 57 drivers. Qualifying in the Top 4 set us up for an easy bracket. It seemed like by the time we started competition, I was already going for 3rd place. The car I going against broke during our fierce battle, so we came out with the victory! I am very happy to take home a trophy for my team and especially for EBC Brakes.
Thank you to all my sponsors and my team for their continued support!

EBC Bluestuff produces wins on Honda with driver Brian Robertson

Quick thank you for the help last fall in getting a set of Bluestuff NDX brake pads out to me. First event was this past weekend, and out of 93 participants, I PAX’d 3rd (SCCA STU class). I won my class by a good 1.4xxx as well. Only 2 to beat me on PAX were national trophy winners.
Here is a quick picture or two from the event, and I have added on the EBC Brakes stickers. Once I run a few more events, and have a few different conditions to report on, I will gladly share my feelings in a ‘report’ for EBC to share/use if interested. Thanks again.

EBC Saab brakes help The Carbeque project to get cooking!
Last modified on 2011-04-20 10:06:21 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

The Carbeque is a unique project where a team of automotive and barbeque experts have bought fot $400 an old 1989 Saab 900 and converting it to be suitable enough to compete for a day at LeMons. The project is called ‘The Carbeque’ because along with racing, the car is also cleverly designed to barbeque meat under hood that will be served out when the team swap drivers.
To help the guys along with the project EBC Brakes have sent on the guys some parts including a set of Yellowstuff brake pads for the front, a set of Redstuff brake pads for the rear and some EBC Premium Replacement Rotors all round.
We updated our site with a new video, completing the brake system is a great step in the right direction! Thanks again, the brakes feel insane, and I was surprised at how well they grab when cold. Our new motto should be “GO DEEP” Take care.

Best brakes for a mini by EBC make a close winner of Ade Tuckley at Oulton Park
Last modified on 2011-04-20 11:16:20 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

At Oulton Park on Saturday Adrian (Ade) Tuckley won the first Round of the Mighty Mini Championship by 0.14 second after 20 minutes of racing in his EBC Yellowstuff brake pads equipped car. Ade sent us a race report of the close won event below:
I qualified 3rd and didn’t get the best start, went straight back to 5th. I went back to 6th on lap 2 but retook 5th place at the end of lap 2. We were struggling with a slipping clutch during qualifying and the race. The top 8 places were all very close with positions changing all the time. Luckily the clutch held out and I managed to battle my way through to take the lead for last 3 laps.
Despite the very close racing the car didn’t sustain any damage apart from losing a bumper.Thank you for your support, I’ve attached a couple of photos taken by my partner Lianne Norfolk.
Kind regards,
Ade

EBC brakes triumph in Targa Tasmania

Good news from the recent Targa Tasmania for EBC Brakes! Geoff Thomas owner of local distributor Monaco Performance was 1st In class driving a Fiat 124 Coupe running EBC Greenstuff front and EBC Ultimax rear using Commodore Twin pot callipers and MR2 Rotors.
Geoff’s customer Cary Fraser driving a R34 GTT Skyline was also 1st in class running EBC Redstuff on the fronts and EBC Greenstuff on the rears. Both swear by the product and would not use any other performance brake pads!!!
Geoff also mentioned that he caught a brief glimpse of a bright yellow Renault that he thought had RDA plastered all over it but as it was Travelling so fast he couldn’t be sure!!!???

What a result for the team this weekend!
The team was joined by MG Trophy driver Paul Luti for the weekend driving our MGZS.
Following testing on Friday the team were buoyant that they were going to have a good weekends racing. All the pre-season work and tweaks had proven to work well.

Dan Ludlow in the newly built MGZR 190 took pole in qualifying, with Paul starting in the thick of the class B cars.

Race 1.
P1 overall and in class Dan Ludlow with fastest lap.
P2 in class Paul Luti with fastest lap.

Race 2
P1 overall and in class Dan Ludlow
P1 in class for Paul Luti with fastest lap
The team drivers produced such a sterling effort in both race, as both cars have been pushed and have set new records at the circuit. We would like to thank our supply partners for support in the closed season with car development.

Vulcan Racing are now leading the championship overall and P1 in Class C and P1 in Class B, so what a great stepping stone for the rest of the season.
We would like to thank all of those that have supported the team over the last year and we look forward to building more relationships with potential sponsors this season, as once again we aim to bring home the Silverware in 2011.
The team will be joined by Sarah Budby (Karting champion) from the Oulton Park onwards for the rest of the season as we will be running here MGZR 160 and look forward to supporting her on the first steep of tintop motor sport.

We still have the team MGF race car for rent for the season or round by round so if you would like to join the biggest car club and come racing with us please drop me a line.
Regards
Peter

Desert Driving with EBC Brakes in Fujaira UAE, Yellowstuff proves its worth in the sand dunes again.

Just a short note to say I have fitted the Yellowstuff EBC brakes to our Prado on the OEM discs, and the results are a very noticeable improvement with braking performance as I expected. I think more Prado owners should be fitting these pads.
In closing I attached a small pic of the car in question, it’s a great machine which has proven to be trouble free motoring, both on and off road. I just want the wife to have a safe truck with superior braking than the Toyota standard setup… which is pretty average so that’s why I took your suggestion of Yellowstuff in the front and rear, but have a niggling doubt on OEM front discs in this picture.
I’ve ordered new sport discs for the front, which will arrive soon I hope, these will compliment the EBC brake pads and make for a safer drive.
Thanks again for having the right pads in stock and available. When I need new tires I will come and have a chat regarding your MT ATZ’s in the 265-70-17’s.
Oh I threw in a pic of our truck down in Liwa 3 weeks ago. Love the big dunes !!!
Until then, cheers.

EBC Brakes Time Attack Cars – Report by Paul Doyle

Ksport Time Attack Impreza Breaks Cover at Oulton
KSport UK and Time Attack Driver Paul Doyle unveiled the 2011 Ksport Time Attack Pro Class Impreza at last weeks test day at Oulton Park.
The widebodied 2 door Subaru Impreza is fitted with Ksports latest edition brakes all round and uses the highly acclaimed EBC Bluestuff NDX racespec brake pads.
The lightweight car will be powered by a hybrid DOHC 2.35 ltr flat 4 engine supplied by longtime Subaru specialist Enginetuner based in Plymouth using tried and tested Lateral Performance forged engine internals. Coupled with a Garrett GT40 front mounted turbo the output of the car is expected to be around 700bhp.
The highly modified chassis and suspension was custom developed during the original build of the car by Zen Performance and has been campaigned successfully over a number of seasons. The car has the ability to continually vary the drivetrain between rear wheel drive and four wheel drive depending on the situation on track with control of the centre DCCD differential actively managed by the specialist Syvecs ECU. Complimenting the ECU is an AIM data logging system supported by RaceDataSystems.
Technical and Engineering support both on and off the track for the 2011 season will be provided by both Scoobytech and Zen Performance.
For 2011 the all kevlar panelled car sports a mat black colour scheme provided by 360 AutoDesigns. The car has undergone a winter rebuild that will see a new engine, some noticeable aerodynamic improvements and the addition of a Nitrous Oxide system to suppliment the already high powered engine output.
“I’ve been excited about working with all the guys at Ksport UK for sometime,” says Paul Doyle, owner/driver. “I’ve known for some years that the Ksport product is very strong and by working together with the Ksport team I knew we could put together a package that could cut it in the highly competitive UK Time Attack Pro series. I’m really looking forward to the 2011 season and can’t wait to get started.”
Bren, MD of KSport UK, commented “I am more than happy to have joined up with Paul Doyle. The 2011 KSport UK Time Attack Pro car is one of the most advanced modified road going vehicles in Europe and is a spectacular platform to demonstrate the performance and abilities of the KSport braking systems. The KSport UK Impreza uses exactly the same braking kits as sold over the counter. I am looking forward to a successful campaign at the seven Time Attack rounds this year and expect some close competition from our series rivals. Its going to be an exciting 2011″
You can see the Ksport Impreza in action at the first round of the UK Time Attack Series at Oulton Park, Cheshire on Saturday April 16th.

Best SUV brakes by EBC achieve winning results for Neilden Roundy-Miller
Last modified on 2011-03-28 14:01:50 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

This month Mill-run racing has been very successful in our racing program. In the two races that we’ve had this month we have been able to win both of them. We are second in the points for the year as of right now and are closing in on first place. Neither one of these races were won with ease and with the addition of our EBC Brakes we are looking to be able to run our truck even harder and show the competition that horse power is only part of the winning equation.
With the addition of the EBC Brakes we are going to be able to hold the truck at the line and built higher boost numbers to get better times. Right now we’re only able to hold 25lbs. of boost before we start to pull through the brakes. With the upgraded EBC Brakes we should be able to build at least 40lbs. of boost before we leave the line.
Thank you EBC Brakes
Neilden Roundy-Miller

Best brakes for Landrover by EBC help Tom & Carl go to ‘Hel & Back’!
Last modified on 2011-03-24 14:59:22 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Here is an update on the ‘Hel and Back‘ project fresh in from the boys:
Dear friends,
We haven’t been in touch for a while, but we’re now heading back towards Europe and wanted to get in touch and say “Hi”.Over the last few months, we have slowly but surely made our way up the West coast of Africa.
It has been tough and we have had more than our fair share of corrupt border guards, treacherous roads and difficult terrain to deal with.
As I’m sure you know, the engine needed to be rebuilt in South Africa, but thankfully has been perfect ever since.
Through Angola we traversed tracks comprising more potholes than tarmac, whilst very aware that forays into the undergrowth were strictly for the foolhardy due to the large number of unmarked landmines.
Into the Congo, we encountered the worst roads on the trip, with the way ahead dwindling to no more than a footpath through the rainforest. Covering just over 100 kilometers in 6 days, we emerged from the other side muddy, hungry, exhausted but happy.
After crossing the mighty Congo river, we have made steady progress through West Africa. We’ve forded streams and rivers with water up over the bonnet, crossed deserts in 55 degree heat, hacked our way through jungle and forest and finally made it to the gateway to southern Europe.
However, none of this would have been possible without your help. To that end, we want to extend an invitation to our homecoming, on Friday the 8th of April. We would love to see as many people there as possible, ostensibly to thank everyone for all their help and hard work, without which our trip would have remained little more than a grand idea, as well as to celebrate our return after over a year on the road and 38 borders successfully crossed.
The venue is to be confirmed, but it will take place in the evening and in the Beaconsfield/Chalfonts area of Buckinghamshire.
With best wishes
Carl and Tom

Quality brakes for MG by EBC are enjoyed by Vulcan Racing at the Silverstone Arena GP
Last modified on 2011-03-23 17:16:12 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

The Vulcan team had a great day on the 21st march 2011 at the heart of UK motorsport, Silverstone on the new Arena GP layout.
The team for the first time had all 3 of its 2011 cars out on track. We had the pleasure of 20 guests in total joining us during the day with 6 drivers. The aim of the event was to shack the cars down for the forthcoming season and give a little back to those who have supported the team over the last year.
Everybody got out in the cars during the day and from the smiles in the garages afterwards look like they had enjoyed themselves. We are keen at Vulcan to make sure enjoyment is key to our race team, Jackie did the team proud catering track side as ever all part of our hospitality package.
The team aim to run more corporate days during the year, and if you would like us to price this for you please drop me a line.
See you at Brands!
Regards
Peter Burchill

VW R32 Brakes best results with EBC Yellowstuff according to driver Carl Hanson.

Carl recently installed Yellowstuff Brake pads and new discs on his R 32 and found them superb, here are his comments and a link to the website where this and other reviews can be seen:
Carl wrote…
I hope you don’t mind me contacting you directly. I read some of your posts on Pistonheads and took the liberty emailing you direct.
I have been doing some reading as I’m looking for some new pads for the front and rear of my 2003 Golf R32. I have OEM discs but are looking for some uprated pads to go with them as the OEM ones are pretty poor in my opinion for such a heavy car. I’ve used the Greenstuff pads on my previous
car and was more than happy with them. This time I’ll be looking at Redstuff brake pads
and especially Yellowstuff brake pads with good reviews on R32OC.com, which would you
recommend for “fast road” and the occasional track session?Cheers!
Carl
Then later Carl writes…
Firstly, here is a link to my review on the R32 owners forum as promised
back in January, I’ll post it on other forums I frequent over the weekend.http://www.r32oc.com/r32-reviews/31454-ebc-yellowstuff-review.html
I followed your tip to take it easy for 500 miles, which was no fun, but I’m
now reaping the rewards with a awesome stopping power! Thanks very much for the pads and your advice, I’ll be sure to recommend EBC Brakes
to others in the future!Cheers

Great brakes for muscle cars by EBC look & run cool for Douglas Coen.

New EBC Brakes sponsored driver, Douglas Coen and star of the EBC muscle car advertisement in mopar muscle magazine is looking forward to a smokin’ season ahead with his newly fitted EBC 3GD Sports Rotors and Yellowstuff Brake Pads that match his Dodge muscle car. Douglas attends various Mopar Muscle car events like the Monster Mopars at Indy and JeffJohnsonMotorsports.com and has sent on a video of himself in action below. He was made up when he received his EBC Brakes as you can see from the quote below:
They sure are heavy and pretty for a rotor the brake pads are the same color as my car. I think I’ll paint my calipers the same color it’s nice to see a company just pick my car out of the Hundreds of Mopars at Mopar Nationals I really feel honored to be honest then put so much money into my car for me.
My car is also on YouTube under Daytona2139. That’s how they got the shot for the Magazine you can hear me shifting back from 3rd to 2nd. The back tires was brand new and was getting sticky so that’s why I had to go back to 2nd. I have also raced the Vantage Point police charger and have been one of the few that has beat him.. thanks a lot!

Best of luck for the season ahead Douglas and do send on any new info we can blog for you!

EBC Bluestuff Racing Brakes are great for fearless driving according to Chris Greenhouse

Greenhouse heats up at 100 Acre Wood with EBC Bluestuff
EBC Brakes sponsored driver Chris Greenhouse and his team have won the RallyAmerica Central Group 2 Championship for the last three years and starting in 2010. Chris is very grateful for the support we’ve given him over the last few year and has sent on his most recent race report as seen below:
Defending three-time RallyAmerica Central Region Group 2 Champion Chris Greenhouse scored his second National podium of 2011 with a second place finish at Rally in the 100 Acre Wood in Salem, Missouri. The Cincinnati-based driver now sits in third place in the National Championship points after an all-out attack on the fast stages in and around the Mark Twain National Forest. Driving a non-turbo Plymouth Neon, he and co-driver Brian Johnson thrilled the Missouri crowds with a display of absolutely fearless, flat-out driving and netted his second National podium finish in as many starts this year.
“The event went well for us, and I’m pretty satisfied with the result,” said Chris. “We struggled with an intercom problem through most of day 1 which made communication difficult on the stages. We were down on power a little bit on day 2 with a nagging exhaust leak, but we still pushed very hard and I’m very happy with a second place finish. I would like to especially thank all of our fans who were out there making some noise for us and the #319 Plymouth Neon.
The event wasn’t without drama for the Weasel RallySports team as an overly optimistic fuel schedule nearly ended their rally early on day 1. The team finished the first four stages and transited back to the service parc only to run out of fuel at the Regrouping Control. “We had to push the car through the time control and then push it back after service was completed. Only then were we permitted to refuel the car and continue the final night stage on Friday. We wanted to return to service nearly empty on fuel, but we just cut it a little too close and very nearly had our rally come to end because of it. We will certainly need to play a more conservative fuel game in the future.
Here are a few video clips of Chris and his team at recent events:
