What are the best Clio brakes ???? The answer is EBC bluestuff on the fronts EBC yellows on the rear

Hi,
just dropping you a quick message to let you know how I’m getting on with the Bluestuff (and Yellowstuff rear) pads you sent me. They’ve been on the car now for about 3-4 weeks, and straight from the box the set up was very impressive!

First press of the brakes and it was clear they had a strong ‘bite’ and I wasn’t sure if this was just because they were brand new and would maybe dull down a bit once bedded in. Well I’m pleased to say that they’ve lost non of that initial bite, which you get even from stone cold, and they have really impressed me for day to day driving. They bite strong but not so aggressively that they feel they may lock, you have a good ‘feel’ for what they’re doing, and thats saying quite a lot on a Clio Cup which has no ABS and has a brake bias which is massively front orientated!

I completed my first track day with them fitted yesterday and they were incredible!! Repeatedly hauling the car down from 100mph into a long 180 right, lap after lap I was inspired to absolutely stand on the brake pedal and never had any problems with brakes locking or fading. The ‘feel’ remained solid and gave good feed back, and on the occasional laps when I missed my braking point there was always a little bit more there when needed to bring the car back to a safe cornering speed.

I completed 6 half hour sessions, on a fairly short circuit at Teesside Autodrome so the brakes got a good work out with no particular long straight to cool them down, and they were faultless. Pad wear was also minimal, and the discs looked pretty good afterwards too, so I’m very pleased and would imagine this set up would last all year round no problem at all!

I’ve attached a couple of pictures of the car with its stickers fitted (I’m trying to get hold of some high res ones of it on track at the minute), and some shots of the brakes after their day of abuse!
I’m going to whip the pads out next week and just check them over for any problems, but I’m not expecting to find any.
Once again many thanks for letting me test these pads, and if you come up with any more compounds you think may be suitable and want them tested and advertised a bit – I’m your man!!

Thanks,

Chris
