Reviews on EBC Bluestuff and Yellowstuff by top racers and Champions Dan Ludlow and Peter Burchill

Our Team Vulcan Racing has been using EBC Bluestuff all season and clinched many rounds and the over championship using the EBC Bluestuff grade. Dan Ludlow and Peter Burchill both use EBC Bluestuff on their race cars.
Peter and Jason prefer the EBC Yellowstuff in their race cars.
Both EBC Bluestuff and EBC Yellowstuff compounds deliver great brakes, they are different in feel and wear rates but both are very creditable brake materials and we are pleased to be able to test and review EBC Bluestuff.
Said the race team drivers who supplied this race report below.
The team headed to Snetterton on the new 200 hundred layout for the final rounds of this year’s championship. Dan had already secured overall champion status and for this weekend had been drafted into the Britcar 24hr to drive for the Honda works team. We have been treated to the summer that did not happen with 32 degrees, 42 degrees track temp and some very warm cars. We had also entered a team into the 4-hour relay to finish of our racing season.
Cars Entered / Drivers
Car 13 MGZS Peter Burchill (Championship rounds & 4 hour relay)
Car 52 MGF Jason Simon (Championship rounds & 4 hour relay)
Car 26 MGZR Dave Brown (4 hour relay)
Car 52 MGZS Ewart Kitson (4 hour relay)Qualifying
Both Peter and Jason qualified well with Peter managing to be the fastest ZS on track out qualifying 2 cars from the higher class which he was pleased with. Jason was driving the F again for us this weekend and put in good times.
Peter’s best lap 1.31.702 P7 2nd in class
Jason’s best lap 1.35.859 P17 2nd in classRace 1.
25 cars lined up on the grid, in blistering heat today was going to be heavy on cars and drivers a like with 32 degree’s outside and 40 degree’s in the cars at the end of the race, it was a real test of tyres and brakes and cooling systems.
Peter held position into the first corner and a battle was unfolding behind him with 2 front runners starting at the back of the grid due to issues in qualifying which lead to some interesting laps until the pack had sorted itself out.
The new 200 layout had changes somewhat from the last race here last season and the turn 2 and 3 made for some interesting tests of the last of the late braker’s! Jason made his way past several cars in the heat of the race but coming under bridge a bit of a spin left him beached which was a shame as he was matching times from the front running MGF and gaining.
Peter brought the ZS home in P7 2nd in class which meant the class championship was down to 2 point, was this to be a weekend of 2nd places?
Peter’s best lap 1.32.732 P7 2nd in class
Jason’s best lap 1.37.185 DNFRace 2
By now all drivers had driven the circuit, we expected another hot race and were not disappointed with the October heat wave.
Peter was along side the Class C MGZS of Ewart Kitson and in front of the Class C ZS of Ashley Woodward and was set for a sprint from the line to make up for his road tyres compared to the faster classes slicks, the plan was clear get away cleanly and take advantage of the cold slicks in the first 2 laps. Jason was in the thick of the pack and needed to get away to catch the class leading MGF.
What a start for both of the cars with making clean runs for turn one and maintaining position for the first lap, a battle unfolded with Peter and Ashley with bumper to bumper and mirror to mirror racing for the next 20 minutes until Peter pulled out a one car lead over Ashley. Despite this Simon Cripps again won the class (B) meaning on count back Peter has finished 2nd in class this year. Jason had a great race but due to vibration he took the flag in the pit lane taking class win.
Peter’s best lap 1.31.835 6th overall 2nd in class
Jason’s best lap 1.37.788 P19 1st in class
Congratulations to Sarah Budby (who had raced co drove with us) who raced here new car for the first time and secured 4th in class and 4th in class in both rounds. We look forward to working with Sarah and here family again next year.
4 Hour Relay Race – It was going to be hotThe final event for the day was a 4 hour relay race in which we had entered a team of 4 drivers and 3 cars, with Jason sharing Peter’s ZS for this event. Peter qualified the team well with a P7 slot from which we would have 4 hours of hard racing against, Jags, BMW M3’s, Cosworth’s, Morgan V8’s, Proton cup cars, MGB V8’s, a bunch of Alfa’s, Trophy ZR in fact the paddock was full of some stunning race cars.
Peter was to drive first then Dave, then Ewart and Jason was to take the flag. The race was a great way to finish a superb season and all 4 drivers drove well, pushing hard to build up the laps and banging in consistent times which is key in enduro racing.
We qualified 11th out of 27 teams which we were pleased with the pace of the cars with full tanks of fuel. The race went to plan with each driver putting good times and moving us forward in the rankings. As the race was a handicap to balance the level of performance we wanted to finish as high as possible, thanks to the hard effort of all 4 drivers we finished at the flag 8th overall with 3rd in class. For a team of slower cars we were made up, and we awaited the final classification:Vulcan Racing – P5 Overall – P1 In up to 2.5 litre class
What a result for the team and the drivers to finish the day with more silverware.
