Podium Ohio National Enduro making Back-to-Back-to-Back wins
I am pleased to report to you after 3 back to back wins in the AMA NEPG National Enduro Series. The win streak started in Michigan at the infamous Jack Pine National Enduro July 17th aboard the new Husaberg TE300. This also marked my first victory in the NEPG series. Two weeks later I dominated in PA at the Rattlesnake National Enduro winning 4 of 6 special tests, topping the day by 58 seconds.
While training during the month between the Rattlesnake and round 9 in Ohio I tore my ACL. I saw my surgeon for this knee injury and set up the corrective surgery immediately. There was still time to race the Ohio national enduro before the surgery so I raced round 9 of the National Enduro Series injured. I won the first test but lost some time tangling with a barbwire fence in the next test. As the day progressed I showed good speed but started experiencing some pain and fell to fourth position after the fifth test. In the final test section I focused on perfection and made up 49 seconds on race leader Mullins to take my third consecutive series victory.
Since setting my pace on winning I moved to 3rd in series points, within 12 points of the championship. I will go for surgery 9/2 to be healthy for the 2012 championship.
NEPG Standings After Round 9
1. Charles Mullins 210 (2 wins)
2. Russell Bobbitt 209 (4)
3. Nick Fahringer 198 (3)
4. Cory Buttrick 181
5. Michael Lafferty 144
