Jeff Jones races the EBC Brakes RX8, qualifies first place and finishes 4th!

Phoenix AZ – BMI Racing attended the 6th and final round of XDC – Xtreme Drift Circuit this time with EBC Brakes coming on board as the title sponsor, and with Jeff Jones steering the car.

Thursday was the first day Jeff Jones had the opportunity to drive the EBC Brakes RX8 4 Rotor at a full test day at Willow Springs CA. Using the same setup from the Formula Drift series the test day allowed him the full opportunity to get a feeling for the cars handling.

After a long drive through the night, Friday presented us higher temperatures and a great sunny day in Phoenix AZ. We had the opportunity of nearly 4 hours of practice on Friday and the first opportunity for many to see the EBC Brakes RX8 4 Rotor in action. With a successful practice session Jeff Jones and the BMI Racing team were looking forward to Saturday’s events.

Saturday’s main event brought in the crowds and uplifted the enthusiasm for everyone, aside from the main feature of the XDC drift event there was also the REMIX Car Show, Merchandise Stands, and Concessions. Saturday was a full day of events with a final practice session, qualifying then top16.

Jeff Jones drifted the car into top qualifying position, reaching one of the fastest speeds through the transition. After the opening ceremonies we moved straight into Top 16 Competition Jeff’s first battle was against James Evans and his 350z, it was a tough battle leaving the judges undecided after the first battle, forcing them into a “One More Time” Jeff fought on in the second battle and came out wining that round.

Jeff was set to go up against Cyrus Martinez, but due to mechanical failure Cyrus was unable to compete and automatically gave the win to Jeff. Moving into Top 4 Jeff put up a great fight against Miro Ovcharik, but was unsuccessful in moving into the final battle, instead Jeff went up against XDC Series Champion Chelsea DeNofa after a fantastic battle Jeff Jones took 4th place respectively in the EBC Brakes RX8 4 Rotor.

This was an extremely great result for the limited time in which the program was put together. Superb driving by Jeff Jones, complete with team support from Albert Bryars, and Crew Chief Adam Burgess and Owner Sarah Burgess.
