| I purchased the green stuff brake pads about a week ago and installed them. Excellent stopping power. Brake dust is there and noticeable after two days.
One question i have is, they are making a squeaking sound when braking at fast speeds. There is also a clicking sound coming from the assembly. Does anyone know what is causing this or how i might be able to get rid of it ??

There are a few questions I will need from you as to get to the correct solution for you.
1) How many miles do you have on the pads since install?
2) Were the black shims installed with the pads?
3) Is the squeak coming from the front or the rear of the vehicle?
4) Did you replace your rotors or have them turned prior to installation of the Greenstuff pads? Were EBC rotors installed and if so, what type… UPR “OEM style“ , USR “sport slotted“ or GD “slotted and dimpled?”
Customer Response:
I must have pretty close if not more than 200Kms since the install.
Yes the black shims where installed on the pads.
The squeak is from the front of the vehicle (both sides) when I apply the brakes. This is an intermittent problem. It will squeak sometimes if I apply pressure quickly and sometimes if I apply pressure slowly at various speeds.
I replaced the originals rotors with the GD rotors from EBC.
Otherwise they work fantastic!

Okay…. This is what I thought you may say!
Greenstuff pads can take up to 900 miles “1,450“ Kilometers. To fully bed in. These are an aggressive pad but very soft on the rotors. All you will need to do is NORMAL driving for another 1,200Kms and these pads will be fully bed in. It normally does not take even half of that to become fully bed in.
As for the ticking sound….. this is perfectly normal for our GD rotors. These are our most aggressive rotors that you have fitted! This particular rotor has such wide slots and dimples to degas and cool your rotors that they do make a whooshing sound and quite often depending on the vehicle…. A ticking sound.
The only way to go around that noise is to fit our USR rotors “sport slotted“. These USR rotors are silent and very good and degassing and cooling the pad and rotor surface!
By the way… As for dusting on Greenstuff pads… This is NOT a low dust pad but what you have been experiencing is going through the brake in coating and the pad mating to the rotor surface. This should settle down a bit after you fully bed the pads in!
You have a great set up on your Matrix Wazy and we just need you to put a few more Kms on the set up! |
