EBC Brakes is the way to go according to Nou Yang

Before I began, I do have to say I had to shave down the front pads about 10mm+ each, because I gave the wrong part number in my email to you.  I should have listed the pad number DP4037R instead of the DP4037/2R. The Wilwood pads I had were the 7416, so I apologise for that.

I have a 2008 Scion TC with a curb weight of 3200lbs and a modified TRD supercharger.  I run in the SMF class in autocross and just do open track for now.  I don’t have loads of HPs, but more than what the factory planned for the OEM brake setup.  I’ve actually set fire to my brakes during my first autocross school.  At the beginning when I participated in an autocross, the brakes would fade after the 2nd or 3rd run and making stupid mistakes trying to make up for the brakes.  After a year of autocross, I upgraded to Wilwood BBK to help the fade issues.  The upgrade helped a lot during the autocross, but the pads weren’t too friendly during my daily drives.

My experience with brake pads involves some of the following:

Wilwood – BP10

Axxis – Ultimate

EBC Yellow pads

Of course I’ve used the usual AutoZone and PosiQuiet type pads in the past too, but those don’t really count.  I do have to say the Yellowstuff brake pads surprised me, especially for street use.  I expected these to work wonders at the track and autocross, but I was honestly more interested in the daily driver usage.  The pad break in was simple and more uniformly on the rotors.  They were more responsive and predictable during regular driving than the Wilwoods were.  The Yellowstuff brake pads worked really well during cold braking and I was comfortable using the brakes just like I would with the OEM brakes.  Also there wasn’t as much brake squeal as the Wilwoods.  I also noticed there was less dust compared to the Axxis Ultimate pads I had on my rear brakes.  I wouldn’t say there was little dust, but a lot less than expected from performance pads.

Track use was perfect.  I experience little to no fade from the pads at all.  I use to have an issue with my ABS activating after the pads got hot, but I noticed my ABS barely kicked in after the Yellowstuff was on. I was able to feel the brakes more.  The most recent trail for these pads was at an autocross where the temperature averaged 100` in the shade.  The asphalt averaged 118`+ and the course really tested the braking performance as there were mostly straights and sharp turns.  My group had about 12 cars and my younger brother and I both drove the TC.  So there was little time in between runs.  I didn’t notice any fade at all and my younger brother was really surprised at how the brakes performed.  He’s even thinking about switching to them on his Civic.

Over all I say this is a great product.  They are responsive and predictable which is what I am looking for in my brakes.  I wish I will be able to test the Bluestuff brake pads one day, but unfortunately for now they only make the Yellowstuff brake pads in the rear for my TC.  I just want to say thank you for the opportunity to test these for your company.
