Fantastic results with EBC Yellowstuff Brakes from US race driver Howard Yang

I want to thank the folks at EBC Brakes again for the opportunity to try out the EBC Brakes Yellowstuff on my 3000GT. I’ve had the brake pads on the car for a couple of months now so I thought I might let you guys know how they’re working out.

When I first installed pads and went out on a break-in drive I thought the pedal felt very mushy and the braking wasn’t very responsive. I didn’t want to blame it on air in the lines right away so I finished the break-in procedure and drove the car around for another week. A week and a couple of hundred miles later the pads felt much better in terms of pedal feel and initial bite. I’d say that the Yellowstuff brakes gave me a firmer pedal feel than the Hawk HPS pads that I had on the car.

During performance driving the pads worked great. I ran autocross events with Hoosier A6 R-compound tires with the Yellowstuff and they matched the grip of the tires very well. I had consistently strong braking throughout my runs and had no problems with heat.

The pads worked well for daily driving too. I never had a problem with lack of braking force in cold temperatures. I did, however, run into the same problem a lot of other people have talked about which is how much the pads dusted. I just switched over to some dark colored wheels so the dusting is not all that apparent anymore.

I think the Yellowstuff is a great product and hope to try out the Bluestuff brakes for some road course HPDE events in the future. Thanks again!

(Comment from EBC tech, we don’t sell Yellowstuff as a LOW dust pad, this is clear in all our literature, also our Bluestuff is not a low dust pad either, however comparing the dust emitted from EBC pads which is quite easy to remove semi metallics from ALL our competition the EBC dusting is less and also less aggressive on alloys)
