By the way, the 100-20 and 60-10 stops should be very hard braking. So hard that the ABS almost kicks in. Ensure you stick to a local track where such speeds are legal.

1000 miles to break in Red Stuff pads will work, but that makes no sense. Here is how to stop Red Stuff pads squeaking in one day: normal stops for 2 miles. 60-10 stops twice. 100-20 x 1 and drive home and stop and rest for two hours without parking brake on (use something behind wheel to stop your car from rolling). When cold, go out again. Brakes should be squeaking like mad now. Do 60-10 once then 3 x 100-20 (your brakes should be smoking like crazy and that's OK, just do NOT hold the brakes onto the disks at any point while the disc is not moving. Go home and rest. Two hours or more later, repeat the last cycle and rest. The next time you take the car out there will no squeaking. Full stop.

Hi!

The bedding procedure is normal braking for the first 200 + miles up to around 500 or when the brakes start to feel as though there is some bite to them.
You should not perform the sort of braking as you describe this will just overheat the material before it has had time to bed properly.
Any squeal should usually stop around the 1000 mile time.

Thanks

I just installed new ceramic brakes with new oem rotors on my bmw 545i 2005. They squeal like crazy when the brakes are cold. Is this normal? Will the ceramic brakes stop squealing? I tried the bedding in procedure 3 times 8-10 60 to 10mph stops.

Hi Rana,

Redstuff brakes needs at least 500-1500 miles to bed in properly and be noise free.

The squeal you are experiencing will just stop one day and is unlikely to return.

Try some very hard braking and see if that solves the problem or if after 1500 miles the noise is still there we would advise that you exchange the Redstuff brake pads for our Yellowstuff brake pads which is our recommended upgrade for this car.

Thanks

I have replaced both brake discs and pads, on both front and rear, of my Mercedes ML430 with EBC Slotted Sport Discs (GD1102, GD1103) and Redstuff brake pads (DP31395C, DP31363C). I have now driven more than 200 miles but the loud screeching has not gone away or even reduced. It has become embarrassing to drive this car. Please can you advise? Is there an official site/shop where the actual installation can be verified for correct fitting? Thanks in advance, Rana

This blog is about Redstuff which is definitely NOT for trucks. The correct EBC compound that will be perfect for what you need is the EBC Yellowstuff. Please give it a try and let us have your feedback.
Thank you!

I have a 1999 F-250 Super duty truck, 7.3 Power Strock Diesel, with all the extra's, exhaust brake, reworked turbo,
Chip. and gear vender transmission behind ford's automatic
four speed overdrive. I pull a 35 foot 5th. wheel trailer
and I'm not real happy with the stoping power. I have
ceramic brake pads on the front. I live in No. Calif. and
I am in and out of the Sierra Mountains with this unit. The
Trailer weighs about 14,000 lbs. fully loaded. Can you
sugest better breaks. Thanks for you thoughts Ed Vollmar
