EBC Brakes Product Review – Yellowstuff Truck and SUV Performance Brakes
Ultra high friction brake pads for US built trucks and 4×4 vehicles.
If you want improved stopping power with just a pad change, this truck brake is the perfect pad choice. This refined version of the famous EBC Yellowstuff race formulation is now available in pad designs to fit popular American trucks/pick-ups and many Asian and European built 4×4s. This fast growing market for improved horsepower trucks and oversize wheel conversions has thrown up a black hole requiring a performance pad to fit these makes and models that will stop even the fastest driver in a heartbeat. Average friction coefficient 0.5 with similar dust to original pads and the dust is the same or perhaps slightly more than many original pads, this is NOT a low dust pad.
Stretched limos is another superb application for this material. EBC Brakes is now supplying this compound for stretched F250s, stretched Excursions, stretched Hummers which are subject to a PSV (public service vehicle) test. Vehicles which failed the PSV test with standard brakes passed the test quoting a 20% brake improvement when using this material.
Yellowstuff performance range is a high friction aramid fiber pad, totally resistant to brake rotor vibration, and easy on rotors.

EBC Product Review – EBC Brakes ATV Rotors
Due to the conditions in which ATVs are typically ridden, disc wear is quite common especially on rear brake applications. It is quite common to have to replace the rear brake rotors two or three times during the life of an ATV, especially if riding in wet and mud conditions.
EBC Brakes offer two kinds of replacement rotor for the ATV market, a heat treated carbon steel rotor and a lighter weight stainless steel sport disc or rotor as shown above.
The advantage of the sport brake rotor is reduced weight due to its contoured profile and better cleaning due to the scraper slots around the edge of the disc/rotor.

Testimonial by Richard Nelson of EBC Bluestuff NDX Formula Racing Brake Pads

A world first Race pad that can be
used on the STREET.
The EBC Bluestuff NDX formulation has been developed during years of track driving and in 2009 was refined to be suitable for the 3000lb USA model cars such as Mustang,Camaro,GTO,Viper and especially Corvette. Even on the (shall we say) difficult to perfect, race braking on the later “Padlet” type caliper using 6 and 8 piece pad sets the NDX performs well.
The NDX pad material is bonded to the steel backing plates using multiple high strength interlock holes and a unique chemical interlayer which raises shear and bond strength by a factor of five and prevents pad to plate separation. The pads are then baked and ground and feature high volume Vee grooves to catch the inevitable large amount of debris from track use.
Target use is all types of fast and heavier cars in performance and race driving with much enhanced lifetime over our previous Yellowstuff grade pads.
Here is a testimonial by Richard Nelson of EBC Bluestuff NDX Formula Racing Pads:
Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that the Bluestuff Brake Pads work great in AutoX. Sunday I drove in the first Autocross of the year for NASA Mid Atlantic. With Temperatures in the low 50s and overcast, I thought I’d be testing in the rain but the weather held out.
The immediate impressions I got using the blue in autocrossing was that they definitely bite even when cold. I broke harder than usual to try and give them a workout, thinking that I might need to get the rotor temps up in order to take full advantage of the pads. The two hour heat had only about 25 cars so I was getting a run about every 8-10 minutes for the entire two hours. I took temperature readings on the rotors after every run and the hottest I got the rotors was just under 200 degrees Farenheit. Since this was an autocross, I did not have any brake ducts for extra cooling. As I expected, my front temperatures were slightly higher than the rear. But even at under 200 degrees the Bluestuff Brake Pads performed better than I thought. Not too bad for a car and driver weight of right at 4000 pounds on OEM style plain faced rotors.
Over all, I was able to carry more speed before braking, brake harder and later. I also started getting a better sense of exactly where the antilock threshold was to the point it became more predictable. Much more so than the Yellowstuff Brake Pads. I know they are not really meant for it, but since I am lazy I have left the blues on for every day street driving as well and they are surprisingly street friendly and rotor friendly.
I am looking at several road course events over the next two months. Hopefully I can get up with George and we can both get out to VIR at the same time.

Dungey steps up to 450s and gives Stewart a run for the money – Weimer takes Lites
By Jon Row and opening shots courtesy of Bikeland.org
A-1 is always one of the most anticipated and hyped events of the Monster Energy Supercross season. The off season testing, changes and improvements to men and machines all get their first test – and the unexpected has come to be, well…expected.
2010’s changes to teams, riders and new age budget environment made A-1 even more capable of delivering surprises and it certainly did…

Supercross Lites

The Lites class graduated a lot of talent to the 450s this year but is still full of fire with a great roster of seasoned riders ready to take on each other and the new challengers.
Jake Weimer won the fastest heat and led every lap of the main event on his Monster Energy/ Pro Circuit Kawaski. It was no cakewalk though as Rockstar Suzuki’s Ryan Morais and hard charging Trey Canard’s Geico Honda, were tucked in close behind. Canard got by Morais after nine laps but it was too late to catch Weimer. Blake Wharton Geico Honda and Wil Hahn TLD/Lucas Oil Honda took 4th and 5th with surprise heat winner Broc Tickle 6th on the DNA Shred Stix/Star Yamaha.
Supercross Heat 1
Honda Red Bull’s Davi Millsaps got his year started well by pulling the holeshot and leading the first and fastest heat wire to wire while fending off 2nd place Ryan Dungey’s Rockstar Makita Suzuki. Chad Reed’s first Monster Energy Kawaski SX start was sub par but he inherited third place after a spectacular get off launched Dan Reardon’s Motoconcepts Yamaha completely off the track and into the entrance tunnel. Reardon was unable to ride the Last Chance Qualifier and will be lucky to not have serious injuries.
Supercross Heat 2
Austin Stroupe Rockstar Makita Suzuki, got a great start and led the first lap until James Stewart and his L&M Racing/San Manuel Yamaha took over. Team Honda Red Bull’s Andrew Short and Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto were also able to run down Stroupe to claim 2nd and 3rd at the line.
Supercross Main Event

Most fans expected a high-pitched Reed-Stewart battle. What they didn’t expect was Ryan Dungey to lead the first seventeen laps of his 450 class debut. Dungey nailed the holeshot with Villopoto and Stewart in tow and made James work hard to catch up. The much anticipated Reed-Stewart duel was thwarted on the first lap when Reed tangled with Stroupe. A footpeg found its way into Reed’s front wheel taking out enough spokes to end Chad’s ride. Stewart meanwhile took ten long laps to get by Villopoto and eight more to catch and pass Dungey. Although not looking completely comfortable on the new Yamaha, James opened up a two second lead but Dungey dug deep and challenged right back on the heart pounding final lap.
The crowd was on their feet as the two were side by side almost half the last lap before Stewart found some added steam. Dungey still had good momentum but momentarily lost traction, and a final shot to repass Stewart just two turns from the end. Although denied the top spot, Dungey’s overall performance impressed everyone.
Perennial crowd favorite Kevin Windham put in an inspired ride on his Geico Powersports Factory Connection Honda taking 3rd after working his way past hard riding Andrew Short in 4th and Villopoto in 5thh.

More surprises are likely in store next Saturday Jan 16th as the series heads to Chase field in Phoenix, Arizona.

EBC Brakes supports Charity Run “To Hel and Back”

Early this year Carl James and Tom Picton will set off from their UK Buckinghamshire homes in their well prepared Landrover equiped with EBC Brakes on an adventurous journey to Die Hel near Cape Town in South Africa and make their way back home again.
Tom and Carl intend to travel down the East coast of Africa through wind blasted arid deserts and war torn dangerous states before heading back up the West coast via Mount Kilamanjaro, the highest mountain in the African continent, and thousands of miles of awesome countryside awash with mighty rivers and ravines. The whole trip is intended to raise £10,000 for the two charities ‘Link Ethiopia’ and ‘Alzheimer’s Research Trust UK’.

Dear EBC Brakes,
Its been a busy few months for us preparing the Land Rover and with the bitter winter winds biting a bit more now, we’re anxious for the off. To further hasten our departure, Big Brother is about to start up again.
Before we do, we wanted to drop you an update to let you know what we’ve been up to over Christmas and to tell you about our plans for the next few weeks.
We’ve had a few setbacks that have delayed our departure however, we’re now finished with all of the major mechanical machinations on the Land Rover, thankfully allowing us to concentrate on the living quarters in the back of the car.
A lot of hard work has gone into preparing the vehicle to not only cope with the conditions but also to allow us to live out of the Defender for the next year. We now have enough storage to stack and stow all of our kit, which is mounting up!
Thankfully, our signwriting is almost finished now, as the attached pictures show. It certainly looks like we mean business and within a couple of weeks we will be able to demonstrate that we mean business too.
Once all the small jobs are finished, we plan to take the car off to deepest darkest Wales for a trial run, to finally shake down the Defender before the trip. Once this is satisfactorily completed, we book the ferries, submit the visas and prepare the paperwork for the year-long expedition we have prepared.
We will continue to update the blogs, which have fallen behind of late, and of course continue to submit our Land Rover Monthly magazine articles, so do keep an eye out for us. If you need to get hold of us, out contact details are on the website and we check the email regularly.
Finally, we wanted to say thank you to all the people who have made this trip possible. We have met so many people in the last year who have helped us out more than we could ever have hoped. Without the generous donations of kit, time, expertise and advice we would never have managed to get this far.
Many thanks and wishing you a great 2010.

EBC Brakes Redstuff Review on LS2GTO.com Forum
I’m done with the yellows and I am now testing the RED compound.. My calipers no longer look as if they belong at Mcdonalds, lol..
Anyhow, I’ve used the reds before in many different applications with varying results, both good and bad.
My initial thoughts were WOW… The first few miles were met with lots of brake dust to the break in coating wearing off.
In previous times, the reds squeak quite a bit during break in and sometimes for the life of the pad. I am happy to report that there was no squeal at all and I am still in the bedding in process.
I am happy to report that stopping power is very good and seems to be on par with the yellows. The brake stopping power is there from the first cold application, where as the yellows, quickly build up stopping power as they heat up.
There is a lot less pad to rotor transfer in the first few miles than what is common for the red.
I will post new info as soon as I get some hard miles on them. Feel free to ask questions if needed. Pics to follow.

EBC Brakes at the Autosport Show 2009

Team from Autosport 2009 look forward to seeing all friends back in January for the 2010 show
The EBC Brakes Team are back at the 2010 Autosport International Show on 14th – 17th January at the NEC in Birmingham. Come along and visit the EBC Brakes stand for some expert technical advice given by our Wizards of the Brakes world!
Redstuff Ceramic – 3000 Series – For Highly Tuned Cars and Fast Street
Redstuff Ceramic – 3000 Series
High Performance LOWEST DUST rating pads for Prestige imports and faster street driving.
There are TWO reasons our customers love Redstuff, First because they are the lowest dust pad we have encountered by reducing dust by 60-90%. Plus the minimal dust you see is very easily removed with a simple sponge wash as it contains no steel fibre particles as in ALL OTHER pads. Second they brake like an alligator right from cold (as good as Original pads or better) and just get better as they heat up.
This material is a Kevlar® fibre based brake compound enhanced with ceramic particles. If you have previously tried EBC Redstuff (pre-ceramic compound) this material is light years ahead. It lasts longer, it brakes better and is quieter.
Being a hard wearing pad, bed-in times can be as long as 1000 miles and drivers must be patient until the pad takes up the shape of their disc (brake rotor). This is a truly impressive fast road pad for repeated heavy braking.
It emits far less dust than semi-metallic pads and has been proven to stop a passenger car/sedan/sport compact/hot hatch 13 metres quicker than OEM pads from 100mph/160kph. Features EBC Brake-In surface coating which conditions rotor surface and accelerates pad bed-in. Nominal friction coefficient 0.5 with approx. 50% dust reduction.
